I didn't know about the history.. I always thought that "kerala Iyers" didn't go more north than Kozhikode.. wonderful to know and blessed to hear the magical voice of Sreevalsan Menon. Next Kerala visit, I will definitely visit (if any agrahaaram is still present). Last one I visited was Nenmara Pazhaya Gramam, and it was wonderful to see the lifestyle there.

For the first I heard this kriti sung by late Sri Chembai V Bagavathar later by his disciple Sri Yesudas then theertha mallari by some nagaswaram artists The style(Bani) of sri Dr Sreevalsan is different from all of them above and the details of which enjoyed very much
Out of my ignorance, how do the violinists manage to remember and precisely repeat the aalapanas and kalpanaswaras on their instruments, following the rendition by the vocalists ?
If one listens to old Lalgudi, TN Krishnan etc., they do try to repeat vocalists' phrases mostly. Of course they also try their imagination. That is where they get nods from rasikas.
