Here are some links to some products I used in the video that have been asked about. Folding table used for table basting: amzn.to/3I2U7xG. Bandy Clamps: amzn.to/4bEMxGL
Thank you for the links
Thanks for the links. Just wondering what pins you used and if you like them?
Anyone can buy that table and clamps at Lowe’s for a lot less $$
❤
As soon as I posted i saw your links.. 😂 sorry!!
Wow, wow, wow! You have outdone yourself, Fallon! So many wonderful tips in this! I almost had a heart attack when you cut that quilt top. And your basting technique is brilliant! Thank you so much for this!
Those cuts are so scary! Each time I question myself. I do think the results are worth it though! Thank you for watching!
Love this type video, learned alot! Thanks Fallon!
I love people who explain WHY to do it that way. Thank you
You're welcome! I think its important to try and share why and acknowledge there are different way to do things.
"Why" makes the difference whether people remember what you have said
Also helpful to explain what will happen if u do it differently
I taught sewing
Fallon, I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this video. I love full tutorials and so few do it. I am definitely going to make this. And you did a few things that were really helpful to me. I'm 72 and I've been quilting since the 90's and you taught me a couple of things. I am pattern dyslexic and that contributes to how much I dislike the diagonal finish that is usually done to connect the ends of the binding. After watching you, I'll never do it again. Thank you. Please keep doing videos like this. I love Kris too. She also has a 10" square hourglass quilt that I want to make.
Isn't Kris just wonderful! I learn so much from her channel! She is a wonderful teacher. I think it just goes to show that no matter how long we have been quilting there is always something new we can learn. I am so happy you found my video helpful!
Thank you for doing a whole tutorial from start to finish.
You're very welcome!
Yes to making this quilt; Yes, to making the charm square quilt first; yes, to liking the full tutorial. I did enjoy watching your basting process too. Such a great tutorial.
I enjoyed the tutorial and ALL the steps. The tip to use the zipper foot on the top stitching of the binding is definitely something I will try. Thank you!
I enjoy seeing the whole process. You are not redundant-a good teacher😊
Thank you! 😊. I appreciate that!
😂😂I use gardening gloves 3 pair $5 and they are rubber and grip great! Now you have a beautiful 2 sided quilt ♥️
Thanks for showing how you join the binding, it’s a lot easier than what I was doing!
Excellent tutorial
I appreciate all the steps you showed to us. I also appreciated you sharing other Quilter’s methods. We all need to realize there are different ways to get the same result. Not all work for everyone.
I love your argyle quilt. It looks amazing
Yes! There are so many ways to get the same look or a similar look! I think options are important.
You are an excellent teacher and a very patient. Clear person! I love your quilts.
Your words mean a lot to me. Thank you for taking the time to watch and appreciate my work.
Beautiful quilt! I appreciate that you give us all the steps from start to finish. I do a top then I get lost at how to quilt it. Please keep doing your videos like this. I just found you and can’t wait to watch more. THANKS
Thank you Bonnie! It is really helpful having this feedback so I will definitely try to make more videos like this! I’m so glad you found it helpful!
Thank you Fallon. This was a great tutorial. I do like that you showed the process from the beginning all the way through. So many videos only show the top being made and not how the backing and binding is done.
Thank you for your kind words! It means a lot that you appreciated the detailed process I shared.
I made this quilt 2 years ago with fat quarters. This tutorial sure would have been handy when I was questioning myself lol This is one of the better tutorials that I have watched on RUclips. Great job! I hope you do more of these tutorials!!
Thank you so much! Those cuts slicing the rectangle top apart are a little scary! I question myself each time!
Great tutorial! I was looking for a pattern for a male family member, and this looks like a perfect choice. I appreciate your attention to detail. The charm square sample was adorable. Thank you.
Oh yes! This would be such a great quilt for a man! If they like sports you could use their favorite sports teams colors or just use colors they like! So many great options
I just like you making the quilt top I know how to finish but I would like to see you make an Irish chain
Thank you, that definitely makes sense.
I really enjoyed watching the entire process of making the Argle Quilt. I like both whole quilt process and just seeing the finished quilt. Variety is always good
Thank you so much! You are so right, variety is good.
I’m with you about sewing an on point quilt! It challenges my brain. Lol
I am so glad it isn't just me!
I am a beginner, so I like the detailed tutorial
OMG!!!!! I really enjoyed your tutorial and I learned alot, like the previous comment I almost had a heart attack when you said you were cutting it , but it turned out very beautiful thank you I am just a beginner and all was very well explained and easy to follow
Absolutely love this pattern! Just thinking of all the color combos that could be used! And thank you for showing the entire process, most don't do that. I appreciate you showing the basting, that's where I need the most help.
Glad you like it! I agree, basting is so tricky! If you don't get it right it can be a mess with quilting. I hope the basting portion helped give you some ideas.
I agree, Fallon: quilting does not have to be fast. Quilting is a creative process and it misses the point if you try to fly through it. That said, the quilt I’m working on now has too many 1.5-inch pieces and that becomes pretty tedious. So I just remind myself that (a) the quilt is for me so I can take as long as I need to, and (b) it’s the PROCESS that’s important. So as I’m pressing tiny seams open with my little Clover iron, I just recognize that this is all part of it. Finally, I’m working with gorgeous pink and red fabric so that also makes the process a joy. Thanks so much for this detailed video. It really was fun!
1.5" pieces are tough! Sometimes after a big projects like that I do like to do a nice quick pattern for instant gratification. Its fun to mix it up. I can't do really complicated projects all the time.
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. I really appreciate that you showed the whole process from beginning to end. Too many tutorials assume we can all afford to send the quilt off to a longarm to be finished. The only part missing in your tutorial is the trimming process once you have it quilted.
You are so right! I did leave the trimming out! I knew I would get pushback because I trim right at the edge of my quilt top. I don’t try and square it. Our little secret!
There was a book published in 1989 called Fast Patch by Anita Hallock which introduced this method and really explored it to make lots of blocks as well as putting the top together on point.
I will have to look for the book! Thank you for letting me know about it!
This was a brilliant tutorial and I loved seeing the whole process from start to finish. This was especially useful because it was a large quilt and being able to see how you managed the layers when sandwiching and basting it. Also how you manage the weight and bulk when quilting it on a domestic machine. So many tutorials only focus on piecing the quilt top together. It was really good seeing the whole process. I’m not surprised you did a small charm square version first, doing those cuts must have been nerve wracking, even after doing the mini version.
It is scary making the cuts for the first time! It really is. Juggling the large quilt through the machine isn't easy, but it can be done! I just keep the quilting simple to make it work for me.
I am new to quilting and I love this. I am trying to make a small quilt for my first great grandchild and I couldn't figure out how to do the binding. I loved this tutorial..
I hope this video helped with the binding!
Helpful to see all the steps. Thanks for a clear tutorial!
Thanks for watching! I am so glad you enjoyed seeing all the steps!
I love this quilt! I plan on trying one when I finish the 4 I have started.😂 I think it's great to show all the parts of quilting for new quilters.
Thank you!
I love, love, love your quilt and the tutorial showing start to finish! I have it saved so that I can watch and rewatch it again! Thank you for your detailed instructions!❤❤❤
You are so welcome! I am glad you enjoyed it.
Just finished this quilt! Amazing. Thank you for taking out the "stretchy fight"!
I like to watch start to finish tutorials. Thank you for the video!
You’re welcome 😊
I appreciate the time it takes to make your tutorials start to finish, but I know I would watch the whole thing through. If others don’t want to see your binding technique, or how you baste, etc. the fast forward feature is available.
So true! I did add chapters too so that everyone can easily skip to portions they find interesting too. Thank you for your input!
I enjoyed you showing the whole process of making this quilt. I think I will start with the smaller version first. Hope you plan on more videos like this one.
I do plan to show more of the finishing process in future videos. I may not have as much detail or show it in every video, but definitely more often.
Really enjoyed the tutorial from start to finish . So many great tips for people like me that haven’t been quilting that long . In fact I’ve only sewed the tops together but haven’t quilted one on my machine yet . Thanks for all the tips
I hope this helped give you some ideas for finishing up some of your quilt tops! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful quilt, I love the argyle pattern.
Thank you for the link to Missouri Star tutorial on the smaller quilt - I had a hard time understanding where you made the diagonal cuts and how you put it back together on your larger quilt. I now have it sorted out in my mind.
Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into making this video - the resulting quilt is very inspiring.
It was so hard to get a good angle to show where I was cutting. The quilt is just so large! I am so glad you went to the Missouri Star video! It was definitely much easier to see the cuts there!
Thank you for watching! I appreciate you!
I like the fact that you teach start to finish. I am somewhat a beginner but I would like to try this pattern.
Thank you!
Loved the start to finish video. I can not sew squares on point, so I’m going to try this one soon. Already doing a mental inventory of my stash for the squares ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! Sewing the rows in point is just so confusing for me. I loved this method!
Have fun picking for fabric! It’s one of my favorite parts!
I would like to make this type of quilt in the future. I like that you showed each part of the process. You were clear and easy to understand! Thank you!
You are so welcome! I hope you enjoy making the quilt!
I have used that cutting process on two quilts, love it, now I am checking out my stash to do the argyle. Really enjoy your tutorials.
Thank you for showing from cutting to binding. I never seen a video that show beginning to end.
I was worried it may be too long for most to want to watch, but I am happy I was wrong!
Thank you for showing all the steps. For beginners like me it definitely helps!! Beautiful quilt!!
You are so welcome!
I really like how you show layering your quilt. Most people show how the quilt top was made, please don't get me wrong I definitely love that part also, but I always wanted someone to show them putting the quilt sandwich together. Thank you. I also love this quilt pattern and how you cut it to put it on point. Loved it all. ❤
Thank you! I hope to share some more ideas for basting in my next long tutorial!
I'm excited to see what you have plans. I'm sure I will appreciate all the information you show us.
You are a great teacher! Thank you. I really like this video. I am still new at quilting, so I appreciated it.
Thank you so much for the kind comment! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tutorial!
Please continue to make videos like this, everything was explained clearly. I love your method of making an argyle quilt. Thank you
I will try to continue my tutorials in this manner! Thank you for watching!
You did a great job with this quilt. It’s amazing! I really enjoyed this tutorial. It’s always fun to get ideas from other quilters and see how they do things.
Thank you so much! I agree, we all learn something from each other!
We live in a town called Argyle! Outstanding video & excellent explanation from start to finish, great job. Yes, we will be making this Argyle quilt, thanks for all you do. 😊
Do all the street signs have an argyle pattern on them?!?
You absolutely have to make an Argyle quilt if you live in Argyle!
Thanks for this tutorial. I like the whole walk-thru style videos like this one. Great pattern! My adult son needs this for his couch. thanks again from Alaska
That will be great! I would love to hear what colors you chose if you make it!
The small one would make a beautiful baby quilt
I think so too!
I loved that you went start to finish, it was very helpful as a reminder for some of the things I do so automatically. This is something I am definitely going to try. I don't usually care for tiny strips but I'm going to try it with a charm pack. So many good tips. Thank you, it is an awesome quilt!
If you don't like the tiny strips Sew Very Easy and Misty from Missouri Star both have Argyle quilt patterns as well. I linked them in the description. Misty uses Rick Rack for the strips and Sew Very Easy uses binding tape. Those might be great options for you if you want to skip the strips! While they are fussy, I do think it gives a great look to the quilt!
Beautiful quilt.
Yes. I'm a fan of start to finish tutorials. Kind of a bummer when projects are done step by step week after week.
Excellent tutorial! Step by step on the actual quilt, which turned out awesome! I love your demonstration of table pin basting and the quilting, binding etc! I do most of the same but always learn something new! Sometimes having quilted for years I realized I have cut corners and started to do things my way and need to go back to basics on some ways! I’d love to see it puffed up after washing and drying. That’s the final wow to me! Thanks so much for the work you put into this video!
So true! It really is the final wow!
This is an amazing quilt! I love seeing the whole process from start to finish. I also love that you did mention the other videos that show a different way to make a similar quilt.
Thank you! Its so important to show other inspiration and ways to do things so people can find the best process that works for them!
I very much enjoy your tutorials. They work with my brain. You do great - start to finish. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad the tutorials are helpful to you.
I like all the steps being shown
I have done the MSQC charm pack version of this style of quilt many times. One of my favorites! I do worry about the bias edges along every side of the quilt top, though, until it is bound. I enjoy watching your quilt making process from beginning to end. Thank you for this tutorial. Great method for getting a quilt on point.
It is such a fun process isn't it! I do agree about the bias being a concern right on the edge of the quilt.
Try stay stiching the bias edges before assembly, like you would the curved part of a neckline when garment sewing.
Yay!!! I was hoping it would be an Argyle! I have to wait until I complete my UFOs before I can do this but Wow! Great motivation! Thanks, Fallon!
UFO first Argyle later!
@@sewbeitquilts Yes, definitely. Except right after I watched this video I went over to Tracy at The Sewing Channel and saw her adorable eggs! Ack! I have to make a couple for my daughter to look at. I decided I’ll use normal sleep time to do those so I am not breaking my rule by too much LOL.
@@ChristineKrannich I watched that too! So so cute! They are adorable!
Yes, love you walking thru the steps as you go AND completing the entire process for the quilt. Beautiful work!
Thank you so much!
I loved the Argyle quilt. I like watching the whole thing.
Thank you for watching.
I loved this quilt!! Yea, I would like to make one for myself and also a baby quilt with charm packs. Yes, please keep making these complete tutorials from start to finish, very helpful how you explain everything !! Thanks!
Thank you so much! Both versions turn out so pretty! You will love making them!
Thank you for showing how to do a hold quilting I really enjoy, please show more of it in the future ❤❤❤
After all of the feedback I think I definitely will show more of the process for quilts I show in a tutorial! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thank you, Fallon for ALL the great tips and for sharing all the processes from cutting fabric through machine quilting on you domestic machine and binding it. This is a video that I will refer to often! I do plan on making this quilt. I will start with the small size. Then I definitely want to do the large one. I LOVE the binding fabric!
You are so very welcome! I am so glad to hear you will be making the quilt!
Liked /enjoyed the entire process. Great job!
Love, love the video especially when you tell how many squares and how much yardage at the first.
Thank you so much for the feedback. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video.
I think this could be modified into a quilt-as-you-go quilt. So much easier for those of us who only own domestic sewing machines.
Wow! I enjoyed seeing all of the steps in this one. I’m quite sure I would have been confused with just a pattern to guide me. It turned out great! The charm pack version is super cute too. Thanks for the tutorial Fallon!
I really want to make a larger charm pack version! I wasn't sure the design would like nice with printed fabric, but it turned out so cute!
Thanks for this very helpful video! I will be adding an argyle quilt to my 'to do' list. Because I feel a bit sweaty and claustrophobic in my gripper gloves, I cut the ring and pinkie fingers off my gloves. Having this great detailed video in your library is good. I don't think you have to do all your vids in this format if it takes too much time away from developing new quilt block ideas.😊
Great idea to adjust the gloves so they work better for you! It is important to be comfortable too!
I like seeing the whole process. You did great. I would like to try this, but, I like the smaller squares, just make lots of them for a large quilt.
Thank you so much! The smaller squares are so adorable aren't they!? I wanted to make a bigger quilt with the charm squares but I didn't have anymore packs! lol.
I like this. I guess I would need to add extra blocks at top and a side to get the size I want. Most of my quilts I’ve made since I started have been oversized king quilts. I didn’t know what I was doing and just kept sewing.
I do my own quilting on my brother dreamweaver machine. I
Wow, watching you baste this made me so glad I do quilt last you and I make king-size without any issues.
Quilt-as-you-go
I have only done quilt as you go on small projects like tote bags, but I do enjoy the process.
Yes more tutorials like this I enjoyed watching it and really liked all of your tips
Thank you!
I think the way you explained everything is awesome. I just love everything you did in this video. To me this is perfect.
Thank you so much!
Enjoyed the video. I like how you showed the whole process not necessary all of the sewing though, which you didn't show.❤ Considering making a quilt like this, but the cutting of the quilt is a bit scary and confusing to sew back together. Would need more detailed instructions on those parts. Your quilt looks fantastic!!!
I can try to show the cutting better with the smaller version using charm packs, but with this really large quilt it was so hard to get it on camera. I am sorry about that!
Great video, I will definitely keep this one in my back pocket. My mom had a beautiful collection of purple layer cakes I've been keeping an eye out for the perfect pattern to use with them, this is probably it! Thanks for showing you basting process. I was just pin basting a quilt and was thinking that using clamps may help.....you confirmed it! Thanks for all your great videos. ❤
I would love to see this quilt in purples! It would be beautiful! Those bandy clamps are so helpful!
Loved the quilt … especially the one with charm pack!!
Thank you!
Love the Argyle pattern. Will try with charm pack first.
I think you will love making this quilt pattern!
Loved the quilt and tutorial. I now know how to get my 2 queen sized quilts pinned and ready to quilt. Can't wait to make one! Thanks
Im so glad you found that helpful! Those big quilts are so hard to baste!
@@sewbeitquilts you're also showing me how to quit them using straight lines. I can't wait to get the tools I ordered yesterday! Thanks again
Oh my. This was so nice to see you put the argyle quilt together. I appreciate seeing how you quilted it also
Glad you liked it!
Love you show start to finish
Binding. Take muslin or flannel make 3/4 inch strips. Insert the strips into the binding fold. This will give padding to the binding. Nice tutorial.
Tip for my miter corner. You are producing what is commonly known as a snout at the corner. When you look at it from the edge. You see 2 holes. What you want to see is an interlock in the corner. Before sewing the corner, Bring the bottom of the binding up first. Then with the stiletto, fold over and crease the right edge. Sew and lock down the edge and turn the quilt.
Yes I really want to make an argyle quilt!! I make my binding exactly the same way you do. I enjoyed this video from start to finish.
I hope you decide to make it! There are some tricky parts, like with cutting, but its a really satisfying sew!
I enjoyed the complete process of this awesome quilt. I'm not too sure I'd want to see all the steps on each quilt, as for myself I'd get bored over and over. However, that said, there are always new to your channel who might need to see the process. So, do you darling, and we can skip along. Right? Thanks
I loved you showed bugging to end thanks Fallon
I am so glad you enjoyed it!
Love this quilt and all the detail you give to make this quilt. Added to my quilt list, along with just about everything at your store (except fabric). Keep up the great tutorials, makes it easy. Thanks Fallon! 🧵🧵
Thank you so much for your support!
I’ve never seen anyone show how to end a straight seam binding join! Love your Argyle quilt too. I would like to see how you move the (unfinished basting) quilt on the table to finish basting. I too have a really hard time on the floor basting a large quilt! However, I looked it up & it does burn a lot of calories lol! Thank you for your tutorials 😊
I had someone else ask as well, so next time I will show more of the steps for how I baste the quilt! Thank you for the feedback!
This is a great tutorial! I enjoyed watching how you did every step. Seeing video's like this gives different perspectives on how to perform tasks and can be so helpful to everyone. Great job Fallon!
Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback!
Thank you. I enjoyed the video especially how you cut it to make it on point.
Loved this video from start to finish!
Thank you!
I like all the steps. Quilt is gorgeous ❤
Thank you so much!
I loved this tute and immediately joined your channel. I would love this pattern and yes I would like more tutorials like this. You’re a great teacher Fallon.
Thank you so much!
Wonderful tutorial and your quilt turned out beautifully!
Thank you so much!
One way I pick color combinations is to go through my camera photos on my phone and find a photo that looks pretty. I will pick colors from the picture as they will go nicely together.
What a great idea!
Loved this tutorial. I lie s finish. I quilt on my domestic , as well. I spray baste on queen or king size bed. Keep them coming.
Thanks for watching!
I used to hate the quilting process until I practiced fmq on my domestic. If you have that option try it! It’s so fun and freeing. Now I love all of the
stages of quilting - even binding and sandwiching!
I appreciate the step by step tutorial. I enjoyed thanks.
You are welcome! I am glad you enjoyed it!
I love this quilt! Thank you for sharing the measurements.
You're so welcome! Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate it!
Late to the party here but Love this argyle quilt. I too struggle with on point quilts so definitely was intrigued by the process. I enjoy full videos of the process and appreciate you sharing the reason “why” you do things a certain way. I will be making this on a smaller scale as 8need 2 baby quilts!
Thank you for going step by step, when I watched you set up how you pin basted your quilt on the table, I wanted to say praise God, because right away I saw a way to save my knees
Yes! Its much easier on the body to table baste!
it is refreshing to see someone your age so knowledgeable, about your craft, and all of that was a result of you trying to find your sweet spot on your terms.i am amazed that you tamed that big boy and kept it alltogether!what are you going to do with it?i would always hang it where you and everyone else can see and admire it.and i found your outlook and talking as you went about the work involved very easy on my ears.some people just drive you nuts with yakkity yak all the way through with meaningless drivel!i subsrcibed!!i'm a fan, this is the first time i've seen you and the way you work, where have you been hiding,or maybe i don't get around much, anyhow well done girl, well done.
Thank you for the awesome tutorial. I loved seeing you complete the whole process
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just love 2 color quilts. I think a red and white might be in my future. Your tutorial is excellent.
Thank you for showing the entire process... !!!! 👌
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed this video. I appreciated the step by step tutorial from start to completion of the quilt. I'm a new quilter, and get lost in some of the terminology. Could really use more video's for beginners, very basic beginners. Thanks
Thank you for the feedback! I can try and work on that!
