I think the examples here are spot on and really foster a manageable approach to such a complex topic of self

As an amateur artist, I was lucky to grow up in an artist-positive area in the USA. Every adult took interest in my drawings and actively encouraged me. Any adult that would dream of telling a kid to stop drawing would be scorned as barbaric.

I hear you, @annieperdue6140. And how fortunate you were to have grown up in an artist-positive setting. Would that we had more of them. In fact, let’s create more of them. Thanks for watching and checking in.

I just got this Robert Bly book a couple of weeks ago with the knowledge that shadow work is pretty much next on my agenda. Gulp. Another title on this subject I have and need to dig into is Debbie Ford's The Dark Side of The Light Chasers. Now on to Part 2 of your series...
Whatever of the holidays you enjoy celebrating I hope that they are great fun for you this year!

@Woodlawn22, I'd never heard of Debbie Ford's book until you mentioned it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'm looking forward to reading it. The title alone is dead on compelling. And right back at you. My very best to you and yours for this holiday season. May the coming year bring you health, peace, prosperity, growth, and joy.

Excellent video. Going to have to check out the Robert Bly book.
What you’ve said matches my experiences with therapy. Often, I experience a lot of anger for days after a therapy session. But in a good way. The work is worth it but it’s not always easy.
Getting to those deeper, long suppressed emotions is improving my writing. And I’ve taken up acting as a new thing to learn and engage with as I’ve opened up those buried parts of the self. I’ve already done background on two films as I learn the business. I even got to audition for a film role. And I’ve started practicing scenes and filming demos. If you had told me even two years ago that I would be pursuing this, I would have laughed mightily.
I like the new background set up you have.

@DavidAlastairHayden, this all sounds good to me.
My father used to call it peeling the onion. One layer at a time, we go deeper, learning more… sometimes the onion is sweet and sometimes it makes us cry. But the journey’s the thing, and it sounds like you’re on yours.
Who knows where you’ll go next and what you’ll do there?
Wishing you all good things with it.
