- Thin Lizzy - Waiting For an Alibi - Do Anything You Want to, performed on German TV show "Szene" Saturday September 1st 1979. I have this on TDK E-HG tape at SP, mono audio, tape 456 Received from a friend in Germany June 1989. This is the best version I have ever seen and I have watched many versions on RUclips, so enjoy. #thinlizzy #midgeure #ultravox

Love it
Two actual legends who I know were great mates, Phil and Midge. The latter turned 70 last year, he's still rocking and I'll bet he still misses Phil. Superb vid. 👍
Phil Lynott had such an impact. Midge Ure looks to be loving being part of the band!🎸
Thanks for watching and commenting Simon
Amazing how close to their studio sound this is, and how Midge managed Gary Moose’s parts note perfect
🤣You are of course joking, but some will think you are serious.
Miming
@@ScottishTeeVeeno, he did'nt joke, so lets say loud: "Waitin.. is a good playback 😊
I love midge & thin lizzy❗️
Midge is the man 🔥🔥
Незнаю почему некоторые "преподносят" его в "женском роде".
Love lizzy midge did very well in the group 🎉
amazing to see that was the Time Midge was helping out Thin Lizzy while doing Visage & Ultravox 1979/1980 Records....???? Glad he choose Ultravox/Visage ....
It must have been tempting just to stay with Thin Lizzy, for good regular cash in the bank, thankfully he went his own way.
The shape & the power of Midge’s guitar
Yes he brings a new dynamic to Thin Lizzy
is playback here....
I believe that is a Yamaha, could be wrong.
I just love to tell people Midge Ure played in Lizzy .. confuses to f&&k out of them ............... cheers
Yup, any time I mention it, I just get a look of "I doubt it" But here's the proof. Thanks for watching and commenting Nigel
lizzy never ages..
Midge said that he was the worst guitarist Thin Lizzy ever had :) But you don't get to be invited to play with Lizzy by Phil if you're not up to the standard. Period. And Midge is one of the most influential musician ever.
Agreed, thanks for watching and commenting🙂
Midge is still a brilliant guitarist to this day
He will never be as great as the guy he is mimicking here that is Gary Moore on the recording .
He is quoted as saying he was the worst guitarist Thin Lizzy has ever had.
@@adamwarlock3530 he said that but considering the circumstances I reckon that he did OK hey :)
@@kingdiamondfan4032Мидж и НЕ должен быть Гэри Муром, а должен быть САМИМ СОБОЙ! И со своими профессиональными обязанностями гитариста он справляется блестяще.
@@user-op3vw3ox9o I saw Midge fill in for Gary Moore at the 79 world series of rock he isn't half of what Gary Moore was as a player . To be fair Gary was one of rock guitars greatest players of all time so not many are .
thank you for this histrory trip ;)
Our pleasure!
i love this band ! phil the magic master !
Splendid. das gut
Unpopular opinion: I like the live version of this song, with Mark Nauseef, better because he plays a faster beat during the chorus... 🙂
Super 👌 band ❤😊
Wow. Midge on lead
Midge rocks and Thin Lizzy rock, and always will....
Obviously Phil is the cornerstone of any Lizzy performance, and Brian Downey rocks on drums. But what a class act Scott is. The team of Scott and Brian Robertson on twin guitar duties will always be my favourite combination though. No disrespect to Gary Moore or Eric Bell either. IMO, John Sykes was never really a good fit for the band.

Great
Glad you enjoyed this
@@ScottishTeeVee in 2 days I.ll see Midge Ure live
@@HenrikBarteldspsy Den Haag?
@@ScottishTeeVee yes sir
Oh you lucky fella Henrik, have great night.
Man Midge was great!!
Wow midge is the man
Had he stayed with Lizzy just think of the music they could have made together
Thanks for watching and commenting
dancing with tears in my eyes, in the moonlight?
No thanks.
Bruce Dickinson spent quite a few years with Maiden before finally going back into the long hair metal look.
Question is: If Ure had stayed with Lizzy would he have grown it out? Would he have eaten more pies and become like a Thin Lizzy Hagrid?
We'll never know.
Was this playback?
Yes. This show had many great live bands in the studio, then made them mime to a playback
This is straight mining to the album version; Midge was miming to Gary Moore’s recorded guitar part
He's probably wearing a wig
Kinda looks like it, but it's not🙂
@@ScottishTeeVee He,s the one in red 😊
@@HenrikBarteldspsy Midge is not wearing a wig
@@ScottishTeeVee yeah a lot of us get older and are then follically challenged
Being a feeble guitar player, I can still spot a fake, and Mr URE is def faking it, having said that , Mr URE is one of my fav artists and is now an accomplished guitar player, probably because of his embarrasment of this tour with Thin Lizzy!
