Instead of spending money on all those electronic billboards, the MTA should have spent that money to install ventilation in the subway stations.

I lived in Arizona for a decade. I was pregnant in 120 degree weather. I moved back to NYC (shh I know, kicking myself still) 4 years ago, I rather deal with the daily triple digit temperatures in Phoenix than deal with a NYC summer, deadass 😂 people think I’m crazy when I say this but believe me, the heat is worse here. mind you if they installed barriers like the ones they have in developed nations not only would they solve the issue of people getting pushed into trains but also enclose a space for AC to run in.

Here in New York for the first time, and honestly it felt like home lol. I’m a Houstonian who happened to plan this trip the same week as Beryl. Hope I go home to power tomorrow. Brooklyn and Manhattan don’t owe me nothing. Love the bustle of the city.

Not pointing fingers, but maybe just MAYBE the heat was generated by the AC from that station booth w ONE employee inside and the heat from the train ACs. More AC units mean more heat will be generated, and more trains at a given station means more AC unit active at any given time. Of course, the poor air circulation in the subway system would trap the heat in the stations for a prolonged period of time.

This really is an example of bad government. The status quo isn’t acceptable. Climate change and COVID have have shown the whole system needs rethinking. The hot platforms are unacceptable.
