I almost destroyed my Notebook starting on the back side. This video saved my notebook and is a super instruction for changing the harddrive. Thanks a lot!

nice video. Own experience: i used the combination screwdriver + credit card. This makes it more easy to remove the keyboard ( like removing a bicicle tire). Tip: first remove the battery. Remark: i suppose you removed the screws on the inside in previous session?

Is this upgrade worth doing? I would love to be able to make this little thing functional, but don't want to waste money.

      For me: yes.
      1. I find it fun to do.
      2. (Start up )speed goes from snale to hare.
      3. You can't buy a laptop for the price of a HDD.
      4. It is one step in building dexterity and knowledge.

@@raccoon6072 Cool, thanks for the feedback. So with the ram upgraded and the ssd replaced, would you say it has a comfortable web browsing experience? (youtube email reddit etc). My only concern is that a4 1ghz chip that is extremely old in this day and age. Thanks

@@HH011 I was especially annoyed by this machine r/w from/to RAM/hdd back and forth. This operation resolved it. I used a lot for browsing and YT and now the fun came back. from

I used a SANDISK ULTRA PLUS SSD 128GB NO ACC that I bought from Ebuyer (UK). That said, I think any ssd would do.

+betascreen I used a drive mirroring piece of software and copied the contents of the hdd onto the ssd. Once that was done, I swapped out the hdd for the ssd, so I had the hdd as a backup if anything went wrong. Once I'd dropped in the ssd, I started the pc up, but there was an error message. I turned it off and back on- no error message came up and has been spot on since! It goes from off to fully operational in about 15 seconds even after the recent windows 10 update!

+betascreen the ssd makes it so much better-it was almost unusable before, now it's pretty quick- especially start up etc. the 128Gb capacity is limiting, but I have a 500Gb external hdd and a couple of flash drives that I use for bulk storage- you just have to be a bit strict with management of media files!

You don't need to remove any screws, to remove and replace the RAM.

Is the keyboard already built in? Or you bought an international keyboard to replace the german one? If so, where'd you buy it? Thanks!

Hey guys, would this computer take an 8gb ram module?
thinking about putting in a SSD too, thanks for the video :D

I don't think so. I have a feeling the max is either 2 or 4 Gb - it's pretty low spec!
