Google have released an update to Google Assistant which allows users to translate conversations in real time.
Interpreter mode is available now via Google Assistant. Users say 'OK Google, be my interpreter', and will be asked which language they wish to converse in. The Assistant will then translate both sides of a conversation in real time, allowing conversation across language barriers.
The system currently supports 44 languages including widely spoken tongues such as English, Spanish, German and Japanese - all tested in our video - as well as less well known languages such as Tagalog, Sinhala and Tamil
To use the new tool, you will need to install Google Translate (free from the Google Play store), and then simply say, 'OK Google, be my interpreter'.

As a German native speaker this was surprisingly very accurate.👍
The downside to it is you need to pick English as your main language.
Kotonoha Katsura it is! I’m not native tho, I’m learning it
No you can use it in both ways by tapping on manual
Great tool for us lazy lot that live in Spain 😀🇪🇸
Veruly big thanks 🎉
Fantastic
is possible change the voice interpreter?
Will this work with opera? If you set Italian as the language you are interpreting to can it translate everything that is sung in an opera?
Yeah it can also cook you a 5 star dinner if you ask nicely.
Good programs
Application name?
It's a part of the Google Assistant feature found on several Android phones. It can also be used if you have a Google smart speaker device like the Nest mini or the Nest Hub
Hi, great video and ignore the ignorance of some people..That said...I need it to consecutive translate online. Will this work?
When I say a sentence in Russian, YT says it in English ... but pronounces the Russian words in pseudo-English instead of translating. Why is that?
Example: bread in Russian is "хлеб" but YT says something like "ghelb", in English, instead of just "bread".
How can I fix this please?
Bro got the japanese subtitles irl
Ok Google
Everything nice and neat until the "pos ya traje la esa de la esa, y por eso jale todo el dia pa que no dejera que no al traje a esa, la esa que le dije" comes into the room.
need to work on making the voice more human
Lol that was kinda offensive. Could you not have used a native Japanese person?
Can you expand on why you found it offensive?
Any excuse to hate black people huh?How do you know she wasn't a native and how do you know the other speakers in this video were lol. There are about 300,000 black people living in Japan.
Some Japanese people have African parents. WTF is wrong with you?
