Watched this video while in Grade 12, I’m currently doing my first year in Actuarial Science
I'm a business analyst and I had a project where I was working with an actuarial analyst. I figured that we were doing 60% of the same thing. From statistics, applied mathematics, the breaking down of a project is just the same.

@@hlatsepantomath Aim to sit around 90s, to position yourself for a great start. If possible over the holiday do PreCalculus and calculus 1 from youTube just to get an idea of the math content. Here at UCT we are required to get 70% for Math to move to Year 2 Actuarial Science. A bit of Computer Science vids won't hurt here and there. All the best!

I have applied for medicine. However i did not get the offer. I received an offer for Acturial sciences at another university. I've never considered myself studying Acturial Sciences but this video really motivates me. I've always seen myself as a medical doctor. Acturial sciences is not bad I see.

Don't do something you don't like. I always knew I don't enjoy bio but I enjoy financial maths. So actuarial science is perfect for me. Rather bridge than to do something that's difficult, that you'll hate and that you'll drop out of.
Financially you better off as an Actuary and in terms of how your career will progress you won't get as much societal prestige but you'll be doing way better than your Doctors age mates 😎I'm a 5th year Med I love medicine but I always wondered how soft my life would've been as an Actuary but I say if you love it, bridge, do something related, apply to any medical school including Medusa, UL or WSU

Great interview and insight shared. In a different topic; my lil sister 23 y/o, started recently at an international mining company with a mine in the Northern Cape in their Technology Graduate program. Her starting nett salary: R28k p/m.... yep 28000 with just a diploma in Application Development and though challenging, it doesn't compare to Ac Sci.
The mining industry is where the money is at.
