This is secretly my favorite Disney song and I'm so happy right now
Malinda Kathleen Reese Does that mean some GTS love for Oliver & Company is in our futures? 😃
I waiting for tomorrow google translate song.
Mine too!! 😊
Same lol :)
You should do a cover of Georgette's song. 😍
One of the more under appreciated songs in Disney’s library for sure (actually, that goes for all songs from Oliver & Company).
CrossfacePanda so true
Not gonna lie, I forgot about this movie and it was one of my childhood favorites
I think just depends on who you talk to and how old they are. Most of my friends love Oliver and Company and it's music. But if you mean Disney movies that get referenced frequently then yes I'd have to agree.
H34dz Of course it’s gonna differ depending on age group and such, but yeah, I meant that in the greater pantheon of animated Disney movies, this tends to be one of the least mentioned ones.
Heck, that goes for most of their animated movies spanning The Rescuers through Oliver and Company (not counting Roger Rabbit, as that one is well remembered for many other reasons). It’s called their dark decade for a reason. Which is a shame, since there’s some good movies in there, but it was still their low point in terms of sales and visibility.
Like "Once Upon a Time in New York City". 😔
Most underrated Disney film? I think so. Best ever cover of this song? Definitely.
Don't forget "Treasure Planet"!
@@Optimegatrongodzilla I was just about to say that. The movie was so well done. If it were made today, it would've gotten a much better rating I think.
@@finnibugz Yeah, the problem wasn't the marketing campaign, but competing movies that were playing in movie theaters at the time.
LYRICS:
One minute I'm in Central Park,
Then I'm down on Delancey Street.
From the Bow'ry to St. Marks,
There's a syncopated beat.
Whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo
I'm streetwise,
I can improvise.
Whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo
I'm streetsmart,
I've got New York City heart!
Why should I worry?
Why should I care?
I may not have a dime
But I got street savoire faire!
Why should I worry?
Why should I care?
It's just bebopulation
And I got street saviore faire!
The rhythm of the city
But once you get it down
Then you can own this town
You can wear the crown!
Why should I worry? (Tell me?)
Why should I care?
I may not have a dime
But I got street savoire faire!
Why should I worry?
Why should I care?
It's just bebopulation
And I got street saviore faire!
_Ev'rything goes
Ev'rything fits_
They love me at the Chelsea,
They adore me at the Ritz!
Why should I worry?
Why should I care?
And even when I cross that line
I got street savoire faire!
Oliver & Company is such an underrated gem. Got so much more hate than it deserved.
Have always said it is the forgotten child of Disney movies. The Aristacats gets more love than Oliver and Company.
@@srankoutcast348 Love both movies, probably because I love cats.
Well it came out at the same time as another great animated movie. The Land Before Time. That's part of the reason.
I didn't know it got hate but I did know it was underrated.
@@srankoutcast348 like cmon, movie about some salty guy kidnapping a bunch of cats cannot be loved more than an action movie about a kitten who teams up with a bunch of dogs
I wish Oliver and Company was more loved
Noooo ooooone
Sings like J. Young
Makes sick beats like J. Young
Makes such incredible song covers as J. Young
akromakroma - I see what you did
For there's noone online so creative
Musically, visually and more
You can ask any user commenting
and they'll tell you whose metal version they like more!
No ooone
Slick like J.Young,
no one rips like J. Young
No one has a deeper voice like J.Young!
akromakroma True, true so true
Oh hey
what probably went down inside Jon's head:
"let's do a cover of an under appreciated Disney movie!"
"YEAH!"
"lets wear a lion king shirt in the video!"
"YEEAAH!!"
Why should he worry about wearing the right shirt?
I dont think there's any Oliver and company shirts
@@christopherbetancourt4643 There should be.
@@DeAtruche I know right I think Oliver & Company Treasure Planet Atlantis the Lost Empire and the 1970s animated Robin Hood are underrated gems
Can you please do "Terror Time" from Scooby Doo on Zombie Island... PLEASE!!!
I used to love that movie when I was little, and now I barely remember anything about it except that I used to love it. I should watch it again.
Terror Time? You mean the best song to come out of anything non-Disney animation ever?
I can still replay the commercial in my head sometimes. "This time, the monsters are REAL!"
CanadaDragon1 OMG YES!!!
Buy it on DVD. That's what I did.
Get Caleb and Travis and yall do A Girl Worth Fighting For from Mulan.
jpierce91 YEEEEEEES OMYGOOOOOOOD
Maybe Savannah for the female parts?
jpierce91 I second this suggestion so hard! Rofl.
YESSSSSS
Oh my god, yes!!!!
This song by Billy Joel may be my first introduction to music as a child. Game me goosebumps to hear such a stellar cover.
Billy sang it, but it was written by the late Dan Hartman.
I love the jazzy edge to your voice, especially present in this song. A delight as always!
Iconic
Underrated movie, love this sound and your voice!
Aka Panda so true, the movie is awesome, yet a lot of people don't acknowledge that
Aka Panda I watch the movie wasn't that bad
One of my favorite songs from an unsung hero of a movie. I feel cooler just listening to this.
If I may request “Toxic Love” by Tim Curry from Fergully
Hybrid301 OMG Yes! 😄
I've been waiting for him to do that one!
I THIRD THIS!!!! HELL TO THE YES!!!!
This one. I never respond to suggestions, but I would give everything for him to sing this song. Make it deep and dark, like "Friends on the Other Side," I'd absolutely faint.
I requested that on another video too so I'm with ya! Actually, I think Baty Rap would be funny too
My roommates caught me howling along to this, NO SHAME.
🎵Awoooh oooh ooh oo-ooh🎵
Oh my goodness! I feel like a complete imbecile! I just realized that the "Ooh-ooh-ooh" bits are supposed to be like a dog howling. I seriously should have realized this sooner. I mean, Dodger even howls in the movie during this song. All this time, I just thought they were vocalization. A lot of people in regular songs will use "oh" or "ooh" or "ah" just to keep the melody going without actual words, but in this particular song, it's supposed to be a melodic way to mimic a dog's howl.
@@mcmptn O.O
You're not the only one...
@@rmt3589 I was in middle school before I realized "A Whole New World" had nothing to do with the other countries that Aladdin and Jasmine were visiting (their new world is love, not the physical locations), and I was in high school before I realized "Be Our Guest" meant more than "Stay with us as our visitor." (They also mean it in the way that means "Whatever you want.") I can be dreadfully slow to catch on at times!
This movie probably created furries
My heart jumped when I saw you'd posted a cover of this song, my favorite Disney song now a Jonathan Young cover
I love all the optimism and energy you put into this!
HE FINALLY DID IT *victory punches air*
Oliver & Company is so tragically underrated. I feel like that's one Disney film that merits a live action remake.
no please don't let them ruin it with a remake :( Love that movie! I still cry a river at the intro/start scene...
no
@@Berachiel yeah yeah yeah....we get it. You don't like change and different scares you.
@@DeadmanInc336 yes that is what I meant, not the trackrecord of bad adaptations into real life acting for Disney movies.
@@Berachiel here's a question: who cares? Really, who fucking cares, man??? It's not that big of a deal to be freaking out over because you think someone wants to destroy your childhood. Especially since unfortunately Oliver & Company is one of the LEAST known animated Disney films of all time.
If the movie came out around 2005 this is probably exactly how the song would sound.
My childhood is coming back!!
I loved Dodger
Billy didn't have to go that Hard when the song was written but he did that for us.
Please never stop to do things like this. It's completely awesome. Disney songs are truly goods and your voice is the perfect complement to all of them. Goosebumps every time that I hear your amazing voice...
Such an underrated song and movie 💓
I mean they tapped Billy Joel for the original, so you *knew* it was gonna be good
Do you think you can do “Out There” from Hunchback?
that might actually be good collab material with Caleb
BeastBoy Fury - Oh man! I love that song! My favourite song from 'Hunchback'. ❤
The last note is incredibly difficult but I think he could do it
thorin oakenshield caleb did it years ago but i doubt he'd turn down a collab with Jonathan.
That, and/or a Rock/Metal cover of Pure Imagination :)
It think all people who use keytars should get instant respect from everyone
I didn't know I needed this until I found it. My neighbors and even my dogs were wondering why I was casually dancing around my house to the beat and howling right along without a care in the world.
Oliver & Company will always be one of my favourite childhood Disney movies. God I love that movie so much ❤🐱🐶
I had an absolutely awful day at school, and was feeling really bad. And then I received a notification. I started screaming! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH ! You're sooo right, why should I worry haha? You're incredible, you give me life, thank you for existing!
I'm so glad no one was around to hear the noise I made when I got the notification for this.
Me 2
CJ Martin Yasssss! 😂😂😂
CJ Martin may not have heard it, but I bet I know what it sounded like, considering I did the same thing lol
such a happy and energetic song together with your powerful voice is a really good combination
I legit screamed when this notification came up. Oliver & Company is one of my favorite Disney movies!
My evening (here in Germany) was about to fall for melancholic thoughts, but I brought myself here and now I carry the message Why should I worry at all? Thanks for this, Jon.
Never in my life have I needed something so much and never known until I received it.
This is literally my favorite movie as a kid and favorite song from that movie. THANK YOU SO MUCH JON
HAPPY 34TH BIRTHDAY TO OLIVER AND COMPANY
Johnathan and Caleb sing "Tough to be a God". Who's with me?
ollie wall If they don't do this I may cry.
ollie wall please oh please
They have done that one now.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE DISNEY SONGS AND YOU DID IT JUSTICE
Honestly I love watching this video because you can see how much fun he is having with this as he gets to relive his own childhood and many of ours
Oliver & Company has always been a favorite of mine. This song always makes me picture dodger, the carefree rapscallion he is, with Billy Joel sunglasses, riding on a taxi. My favorite song of the movie is the opener (Once Upon A Time In New York City), would be awesome to hear a cover of that!
Where's the love button?
One of my favorite RUclipsrs singing my favorite Disney song? Fantastic!
Oh man your voice is perfect for that song
I just met you, and I already love you. Thanks for mix my beloved Disney and Rock.
Wow! This remake is terrific! Literally singing along! Still remember it!
Favorite musical youtuber covering my favorite Disney song...i can die happy now
Sounds epic :D and Olive in company is the best movie ever I don't care what people think of it, other than that deserves a live action remake but then with Disney track record would utterly ruin it!
This
Has made me
Unreasonably happy.
This is one of my favorite Disney songs and this has just made my day.
Not only is this one of the most underappreciated songs in Disney but I had already love this song for what it had already stood for and hearing your rendition of this song has just made me love it even more.
Awesome! You should do "Toxic Love" from "Ferngully"!!! It would be awesome!
That would be perfecr
He already has
That is one of my top songs of Disney music. Loved it! 👏👏 Made my day 100x better.
Finally! One of my favorite Disney songs(back when Disney was good) done to the soft soothing sound of Jonathan’s voice and his keytar.
MY CHILDHOOD! This has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl. Oliver & Company never fails to make me laugh or cry at the right moments, and I'm so happy that it's finally getting the Jonathan Young treatment.
But let's be honest. Anyone who didn't cry at the beginning of the movie is heartless.
Omg I've had this song on my mind for a week, and then this happend! Amazing
Damn Jonathan you know how to boost someones mood with those belting vocals!! I felt like I was taken into the movie OLIVER AND COMPANY and seeing dodger singing this version...You're my hero!! Thank you for doing my favorite song
Seriously? How could I have missed this one?? This is my childhood!!! Loved Oliver & Company. You really catch Dodgers personality and attitude in this song!
Omg this made me so happy, Oliver & Company was one of my favorites growing up, now I have a 3yro and she loves the movie just as much as me and she loves this song 🥰🥰🥰
Yes thank you sir!! Wonderful job 😆 My Disney cover list is complete
Thank you Jonathan!!! This was my favorite movie growing up.
Oh man!!! Reminds me of me of being 4 years old watching the VHS tape non-stop!!! Made my morning!!!! Fabulous singing!!!
My favourite Disney cover of Jonathan Young!
Probably the first Disney song that my kid brain ever seriously grooved out to.
Once again, you have masterfully presented and placed your unique artistic signature upon a song which has been getting stuck in my head for more than 20 years. Bravo, Sir!
Love this song and now I do even more. Petition Disney for Oliver and company 2!
I HAVE ONE, CHECK IT OUT
Literally my favorite Disney song from my favorite Disney movie. Thank you so much Jonathan!
Love that he wore a lion king shirt
Great Job!. My favorite Disney song of all time! You made it even better.. You rock Jonathan
One of the best Disney movies, and often underrated.
Easily my favorite Disney movie. I remember seeing it on opening day. Also has the best soundtrack!
My favorite song from this movie.
The cover no one asked for but we needed. Good job man
Love when you do bright, jazzy stuff. Also love the shadowmark.
Excellent omage to Billy Joel you did him proud
Oh sure
Cause Joel actually loved ACTING
NEWS FLASH HE DOESN'T
HE HATES OLIVER AND COMPANY
THATS WHY THERE IS NO SEQUEL CAUSE JOEL WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT
@Nick Smith YES, HES THE VOICE OF DODGER
Woah nostalgia bomb, movie doesnt hold up as good as i thought but this is still catchy as hell
One of my favorite songs from Oliver and Company~ You did such a good cover of it too. I love your voice.
Simply because you acknowledged this song, that would be enough for me. But then you went and KILLED IT! INSTANT FAVORITE!
Oliver and Company was my fav film when i was younger, i used to watch it everyday, and this was always my fav song, absolutely amazing cover, can't wait to hear more of your covers cause you are amazing.
Treasure Planet - Always Know Where You Are!
i just recently found out about you and have been loving the Disney covers. After hearing your original, I'm not sure how you feel about some of your work, but they're up, and I haven't been able to stop enjoying. This might not have been at the top of my favorite Disney song list, but it is now! At least your version. So good! I saw elsewhere that you hadn't seen the whole movie, wonder if that changed since we have this great piece? Thank you.
I hope so cause I want him to do streets of gold
How have I not seen this? Oliver & Company was one of my all time favorites...
I love this song and Billy Joel... great work there. such an underappreciated movie and song
YOu have no idea how long I have been waiting for you to do this song.
Love and enjoy this song. Now excuse me while I rewatch Oliver and Company. 🙂 lol
This has to be the best arranged/produced track I've ever heard. The chorus has a ridiculous punch and clarity at the lower mids and bass.
This is literally my favourite Disney movie and I am so happy this cover exists
I can't be the only one who thinks this song goes well with peter parker spiderman right? like it kinda just popped into my head randomly and now i can't stop thinking of peter as spider-man just going about his day in the city with this song
You have an awesome voice. I know it is not Disney but you should totally do "Don't make me l laugh" the villain song from Pebble and the Penguin. I think that would be amazing with you doing it.
Ludrea's Knight Disney or not Tim Curry singing is always gonna be enjoyable
+Ludrea's Knight OMG YASSSS I watched that recently!!! How great would it be if they made a Broadway Show out of The Pebble and The Penguin??? I'd pay to see it!!!
A true underrated Disney classic. This is amazing
After hearing this cover last year for the first time I went and ordered a whole bunch of Disney and DreamWorks movies on Blu-ray from Amazon Johnathan you’re the man keep up the good work brother
Ah man you got the perfect voice and personality for this song! This Brings back memories 😍
What a great way to bright up my day 😍 This is my favorite Disney song 😊
Can't you see he's the man, let me hear you applaud
he is more than a man he's a shiny golden god!
My parents bought Oliver And Company from a $2 movie bin in the 90’s and it shaped my whole world. Blues rock music and homelessness? What better things to learn!
One of my favorite Disney ♥ Thank you ! Awesome cover, as always !
You know what? Why should I worry? I got this! You got this Jonathan! We all got this!!!
Perfection. You captured the essence and energy but made it yours. My favorite Disney song as a kid, maybe because I was a child during the time when this movie kept being re-released.
Why didn’t I find this till the end of March!?!?!?!???! I love this song so much even normally now it’s even better!!!!!
And suddenly I miss the 80s... Great cover.
Damn this is good. And that improvisation at the end really makes this cover stand out!
Thanks you for singing this song it's one of my childhood favorite and happy memories.
One of my all time favorite obscure Disney songs out there and I’m sooo glad it didn’t go under your radar. Keep up the work man!
