I knew that long time ago.
But my problem is when I copy pasted the same value, there will be a duplicate.
Try to copy paste the duplicate value, and that Data Validation will not work

What if i have a thousand invoice numbers, some of which contain dashes and i want it to alert me that i am entering a duplicate. Using this method, i would have to know the invoice number in advance. I want it to look at all previous entries of a given selection of a column and alert me that it already exist above. How? thanks in advance. Excel 07 only please.

Apply conditional formatting (for duplicate values by selecting all data)
