Some people saying it looks bleak here. I don't think so. It looks like it was full of opportunities to do business and make something for yourself before the explosion in population size meant every piece of space needed to become residential housing.
Took me a while to work out where you were at the start, but i recognised Fairfield Road. Also a glimpse of the Police car which you never see in the town these days. It was interesting to see the Market Square as the death trap that it used to be before my uncle successfully got pedestrianised. Used to be children and elderly people killed and injured there every year by motorists rushing to get a parking spot. I'd like to say the town was better back then but in fact it was already in decline. The brewery had closed and the Regal was already a bingo hall, and the supermarkets had already moved in and started killing off the town centre, so if anything things have improved since the video was shot. You'd have to go back to the 70's or 80's to see the town at it's prime.
My mother used to own Brunswick House with her ex-husband (going way back before the 90's), such a shame it fell into such a state before being knocked down and turned into flats.
Its certainly changed a bit - I can't believe how old and well, a bit crap it looked. One thing that hasn't changed for the better is when you look at the number of shops
Imran, you should do this video again so we can see the number of changes nearly 30 years later.
BRILLIANT video! Thank you Imran. This was great to watch!

Simon .B and I went to that school too!
@@greencreepercreeps2875 Which year were you there? All my brothers & sister went to St Andrews back in the early 90's.
@@greencreepercreeps2875 how, I thought you are still going to y 8 now
All those buildings in the town centre! Or shops as they used to be called. Hardly a coffee shop hairdresser in sight! Happy days.
It would be kool if someone in Biggleswade could video the same route and we could see the changes from 1993 to now.

True it was already in decline when the video was shot, but I did notice that there were much fewer potholes in the road back then.
