This was excellent. The speaker was very informative. He understands the energy sector and the challenges with renewable energy. He definitely should be on the list of advisors.
So if I understand correctly, a homeowner would pay 30% and Finance 70% directly from the company, I wonder what is the interest rate? Is it cheaper than the bank?
The catch here is what the charges will be, who will finance this solar system panel project, and what will be the "rate" of what the company or bank will finance?! This new venture must be made affordable island-wide on every possible level. It must be made as transparent and simple enough that all must understand the concept of solar panel installation and all its benefits. He said, "Catching the sun's rays using these solar panels is cheaper than running wires to get electricity. He stated that in the long-term, it will be a win-win for all financially. If Jamaicans can pay down more than financing, that would be the best saving for this island. The less you finance, the greater your savings. All the best in your questions and answers toward advancement.
I am ignorant to this but does Jamaica have programs to train people in every phase of solar power industry? There are people in Florida getting trained and some are making a decent living without that many years of education. I suspect that foreign interests are bringing in their own workers and Jamaican young people will be left out.
Wow. I figured this after I diving deeper into research to go below the surface. I had to research based on proposal by the Opposition party to grant solar panels to every household. The question is how practical can this be and what subsidies are needed to do this? Solar panels has not only installation cost but a maintenance cost as well. Can this work for every house in every situation?
7:45 So, the argument for providing solar panels for all homes will have to factor in space. As in the surface area that the property has to accommodate for the panels to capture enough energy from the sun. I am not seeing a de-centralized approach of offering solar panels to all homes as a good solution. The Opposition ideas will have to be refined to stimulate or help a private company like Wigton or JPS to find land and distribution methods to deliver energy from solar panels, where the panels have enough space in an area where it receives enough exposure from the sun.
The intro is so professionally done. Throp has come a long way with editing.
🙏🏾 thanks so much!

Informative information, however, there is no shop in Portland. Everything is centred in those parts of Jamaica.
We should have been doing solar a long time ago, but typically Jamaica America has to do it first then they follow 🤦♂️
This is an OUR issue. It's not that complicated. Just need the proper incentive programs in place.

Solar is the way to go.
Solar has to become more affordable and easier to install. Last time i heard it took 11 years to recoup investment.

This gonna put a lot of people in debt. Do they not see the cost of the world right now. What are the interest rates?
