    Riley had called the same exact play earlier that was the last shot of the game. On that play, Olajuwon rotated away from Starks and Starks drained the 3. When the Knicks tried it again on the last play, Olajuwon learned his lesson and stayed with Starks, therefore the block.

      @@Noin007 it was heartbreaking being a Houston sports fan. The Rockets had lots of good, but not great teams. The Oilers always found a way to cough it away. The Astros were almost criminally mismanaged. Even the phi slamma jamma Cougars with Olajuwon and Drexler under the incomparable Guy V Lewis couldn’t win the big one. John Starks is the main reason the Knicks lost the series. 2/19 in game 7 and then going for the 3 at the end of this one. Even for a good three point shooter, it’s a lower percentage shot than a two. They should have played it safe.

    • @thorgardhaugen2193
      @thorgardhaugen2193 4 года назад +3

      Easy to say from a spectators point... Ewing was denied of a basket in the 4th quarter which clearly was no offense interfierence... And the 3 at the end of the game could also had been a foul and making 2 or 3 points from the stripe is also not "safe" starks was a hero in game 6 but game 7 Riley was the looser because he should have replaced starks

    • @akosh33
      @akosh33 4 года назад +12

      A little unfair. He was the reason they were in Game 6 at all... but yes, he bombed in Game 7. He was a streaky player, you kind of had to take the great play with the occasional cold streak.
      I remember this series well. While Riley's Knicks were always thought of as a tough team, this whole series I was really only afraid of one guy -- Starks. He could get hot and win a game singlehandedly.
