The price of cars, consumer products, and agriculture produce at the supermarket will increase. American companies have long-term contracts with Canadian and Mexican companies to get the best price for their goods. American companies can’t break the long-term contracts and start looking for American companies, they will have to pass on the tariff cost to US consumers.

Do not allow any tariffs ( taxes) paid to America, from being deducted domestically as operating expenses reducing gross taxable income. That would radically favour market switching away from overfed, over-supplied, overstuffed America, and simultaneously impact consumers with a supply side squeeze. David Ricardo's Theory of Comparative Advantage works to stimulate international free trade in a tax-free world. Trump taxes/ tariffs ( extra charges) on imports, only hurt consumers everywhere.
GM production of autos across the border for the US market will be wiped out by Japanese onshore US production.
