I heard this in Trader Joes in Boulder. I mentioned it to the young clerk - and said it was a ballad for Fred Hampton. She stared at me like an old guy with obscure references. Kiwanuka can make me cry, and sustain me in the grocery line ;-)

Just came across Michael for the first time, on this evenings Graham Norton show. For me that’s a nice background show while I surf or whatever, but my ears pricked up when Michael started performing and I immediately started thinking of some of the all time great soul/folk/rock performers like Richie Havens, Hendrix, and above all, that great, great poet Bill Withers. All of whom, it turns out, are influences. Michael, you do all of them justice!
I also just discovered him tonight, totally blown away I haven’t stopped listening to him.
One day I decided to turn to the local public radio station. This song came up and at first I was like "meh" but by the end had Shazammed it. And I'm so glad I did because micheal Kiwanuka is amazing.

I’m jealous! Unfortunately, his upcoming show in Manhattan soldout before I could nab a ticket (I hesitated, as I’d heard negative things about the venue), and now the only tickets available are scalped are double and triple the price!
I’m gonna hold my breath, and hope for a ticket drop once it gets closer, as many times happens for standing-only venues!
