Couldn’t be more relevant, thank you!
It is all pointless if the people that want them to game with can't even get one because people are idiots and want to buy them to try and sell them for more. I hope something is done to eliminate and punish this crap. If you get caught scalping tickets, you get in trouble, but nobody cares about other things?? Websites shouldn't allow resales of newly released items until 3 months after launch if not longer. I want to see scalpers(literally the crap on your shoes) lose so much money. Also there is no reason Nvidia cannot make sure they have enough before release. ID and an active account for proof should help with limiting 1 per customer and bots from purchasing.
thanks
Very well informed, Many thanks!
I clicked in this video randomly to watch something while I ate my dinner. I'm glad it did, as it was really interesting. I'm also rocking the 3090, and I'm interested in the 50 series. Ideally I'd jump up to the 5090, and as you discuss, I'd then need to upgrade my motherboard which I wont be able to do for a few months. So, I think we have the same plan. GPU now, Mobo in the coming months. Out of interest, what Mobo would you interested in purchasing?
Also, I work as a 3D Artist in gamedev, and you're 100% correct. Gaming these days is mostly me just studying environments or mechanics and taking loads of screenshots. It's cool though, the plus side is I love my job, which is ace. And I guess another plus side might be that my hobbies have changed over the years, and I'm now doing more things that get my out of my office and away from my PC, which is nice. I still love gaming though, and I'm still a PC enthusiast! Anyways, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the topic!
Oh awesome! Yeah games like avatar, hogwarts legacy, robocop, death stranding etc I play and I'm like I want to make these worlds!
Wise words. Earned a subscribe from me. Well Done!
thanks!
Would buying a second 3090 now they're cheaper be the silmilar to getting one 5090 regarding rendering and cuba cores
No it wouldnt
I’m personally going to wait until next Black Friday. I feel like these cards need water cooling to use them properly - it’s definitely not necessary but if I am going to spend the money on multiple gpus 1200 watts in gpu is a insane room heater so to run an overnight render holy moly that is putting heat out
Good luck. Assuming you are in the USA, if Trump follows through with his threat against the American people to massively increase tariffs and drive tech prices up 60%, even after Black Friday sales the 5090 will cost way more than the launch day price.
Ouhh just the perfect video
nice!
I held off on 4090s so I’ll be upgrading my 3090s to 5090s. Two will be tight with 1600w in my 7970x threadripper box I build late last year for this purpose 😅 And then plan to put one in my second 9950x box which is my render node and gaming box:)
Man what do you do for a living?
@ 3d motion freelancer. C4d Houdini mainly. Fast cpu and lots of ram needed for simulations, and two pcs is pretty much essential with rendering
From my 4090 I would prefer to upgrade to 6090, but 32gb of ram is great for simulation/particles/vdb..
30% increase is not that great, unless you can sell 4 for good money. As a rule of thumb, you'd want to upgrade when it has 2 times more power/memory, which is 6090. But wait for several years and you'll see if it makes sense, also the prices will settle
yeah if money is tight at all i'd say wait. I try to skip a gen too
@@MIchaelSybiI dunno. 30% is pretty friggin fantastic in my world. Getting a 3hr render task down to 2hrs is a big difference.
@@lonnyhandwork422 Sure, if you're a render guy, then I can relate. I do modeling most of the time and texturing, so I'll pass till 6xxx
Thanks for making such great videos. I really enjoy your content. Commenting to say I think your understanding of CUDA cores is a little oversimplified here. They aren’t a 1-1 between different generations of cards, and that spec should really only be used to compare to other cards of the same generation. There have been generational leaps where the number of CUDA cores nearly doubles but render speed may go up 20%. Every generation of card has a unique architecture. So the way you are comparing core counts between different generations of cards, I think is a little misinformed and potentially misleading. Just FYI.
@charlesbooth3176 oh for sure. That's why I said keep throwing last two numbers the same. I could go from 3090 to 5080 and see a speed boost if I upgraded my Motherboard. But then I'd lose the vram and I need that mainly cuz I record with my gpu too. But yeah it's all a balancing act with budget for sure
I think what you’re missing on the vram thing is that you’ll still get a massive boost going from a 3090 to a 5080. vram is really most beneficial for massive high poly count scenes but who really maxes it out? And 4K gaming I guess. It’s a shame the 5080 isn’t 24gb, but no doubt the 5080Ti will be…just gotta wait longer but that will likely be the most cost effective power to performance card.
Yeah Sims and screen capturing while rendering with me is huge. Vram helps a ton with that
@ ah true! Yeah I spend most of my time in Houdini these days and vram is helpful, for GPu based solvers like pyro/axiom etc, but for a lot of people 32gb will be overkill. 20-24gb is a sweet spot so it’s really a shame the 5080 is still only 16 and the 5070 is 12. Dumb.
hey brother it's smart to get the gpu first and upgrade the motherboard later I will do the same
I have a pcie3 motherboard and a amd 5 3600 cpu and I plan to get a 5070 ti instead of my current 1650 super
will my pc handle it ? or will it bottleneck it alot?
get fastest CPU and a mid range gpu like 70 ti.
yuh need 7800x3d , 64gb ddr5 , buy asus tuf 870 board
@@CaptainScorpio24 thank you for the recommendation brother have a good day!
@@iastories8221 yuhr welcome . what's yuhr PSU ?
I have a pretty good system already, I would only get a 5090 if I was able to sell my 4090 for a decent price. I really only would want to upgrade the system because my motherboard is pcie gen 5 and it would be nice to be maxxing it out, but I don't actually think it matters all that much. Would I even notice the difference? Kind of doubt it.
My thoughts are, think about upgrading in two years so that I have a good graphics card on my current mobo and then after having the mobo for eight years, do a complete refresh.
I bought a 1200w psu 4 years ago so I can upgrade from i7-7700k and 1080 ti. It's 2025 and I have the same gpu and cpu. Have to buy a new motherboard, ddr5 ram, 9950x3d and a 5090 😂 Man! Thats like like 4000$ 😢😮
do you think the multi frame generation that is released in 5000 series helps render 3d models software like blender or maya? And is it worth upgrading to the 5000s series from 4000s if that's the case?
I have 4080 super comparing 5080, the cuda cores is minimal upgrade 10,240 vs 10,752 except the a.i. I feel like if I look only cuda cores is not worth the upgrade.
DLSS4 will help with redhsidt RT but barely, u can use it for denoise now i think. But no it won't help with rendering anything really. And I can't say if it's worth upgrading. If I had a 4080 id wait, but if I had plenty of money, yeah I'd upgrade
I’ll be upgrading from a 2x 2080ti to 2x 5090. It Will be a Huge boost for me! Can’t wait to render with it!
jelly!
Make sure you have the space, I got one 4090 and my 3090 wouldn't fit, I had to put the latter into my older PC and use my old 2080ti instead.
@@polystormstudiothanks, I’m doing a whole new build actually. I’ll be selling my outdated old build for parts. Since this new build will be pricy!! The only thing I can use from my older build is the PSU which is 1600w and the cables are supported. 😮💨 it will be worth to ahead the curve again.
fitting two air cooled AIB 5090s will be very difficult, if not impossible, so check measurements and good luck!
there is a limit per customer. and don't be greedy and buy two if you can so others don't have to wait.
So I’m looking to build my first gaming PC so I have a blank canvas. I’ve been looking at the performance of the 50 series GPUs and they seem to trounce the 40 series for pure gaming.
BUT, I fear I’m going to have to get a more powerful CPU (currently looking at Ryzen 7700X).
Am I safer sticking with something like a 4070 super? I don’t plan on running anything 4k as I’m gonna buy a 1440p monitor.
Appreciate any help.
No need to rush then if its for gaming. DLSS 4 supports all rtx gen cards. so your frames will be good. see how it handles new top end games with that. then think about upgrading to the 5070
Two 5090s.. 1200Watts.. + rest of PC.. gonna need a 2KW power supply lol
all those CUDA works way faster, with those new memory..
By how much fadter? DDR5 is faster than DDR4, but real tests show it's not that big
@@MIchaelSybi I was talking about GPU memory, it's much faster.
RAMis not showing any significant results, other components are lacking behind.
@@MegaBexon Ok, thank you. How much performance you can expect from such memory, compared to 4 series? Like loading textures faster?
@@MIchaelSybi I think the GPU will be at least 80% faster than 4090 in rendering.
@@MegaBexon how is that? It has only 30% more cuda and RT cores
It's a shame! Everyone was waiting for a 4090 card for $1,200, but they got a "stub" with 16 GB of memory and a measly 10,000 CUDA. The RTX 5080 should have 13,000-14,000 cores and 24 GB of RAM! 😡😡😡
Derek, I think the 5090 is exclusively for PCIe5 💥
No it can go in others it just will bottleneck the performance
it's 30% more in everything, so worth upgrading only if you have 3090. Or you might want those 8+gb ram badly
