Well Hello again folks :)
Christmas is hurling towards our faces at a ridiculous pace, so here's another festive acoustic cover to keep you cozy until the fat guy arrives with your new AirPods...
All Alone On Christmas is a fantastic song which was perhaps best known by people of a certain generation as one of the standout tunes on the soundtrack of Home Alone 2 (which had a cameo by another fat guy), and was written by the immortal Steve Van Zandt of The E Street Band - or 'Lillyhammer', as Soph insists on calling him.
Darlene Love recoded it with a few members of The E Street Band and it remains one of the coolest, most frequently heard Christmas songs to this day.
We thought long and hard about how we might go about translating the incredible sax line that leads the song's intro and solo sections: we were pretty sure it wouldn't really sound right to play that raspy melody on an acoustic guitar, but we think we've come up with a appropriate solution to the problem which only cost £7.99 from Amazon.
In other news, this upload marks the first ever appearance of Mat's new Gretsch Jim Dandy parlour guitar in Nashville tuning... oh the joyful, jingly jangly sparkley goodness!
Mat's wanted a guitar in Nashville tuning for a while now, and since the sound is generally not very bassy, the smaller body of this dirt cheap, parlour sized guitar really doesn't harm the overall sound. It's going to be great for recording to add another voicing and spice up the overall sound. Woo!
