If you stick to the main groomed trails, you don't really need a guide. Though once you start thinking of going 'off-piste', especially if you are using the second (Grands Montets) cable car that takes you on the glaciers, they're highly recommended.
life was good in Les Grands in 2013. 2021 is far different ...
Aucune vue du pied des pistes, dommage.
I was there in March 2020 and the cable car wasn’t fixed only those willing skin up could ski it.
