So glad I found you! Have not used many of my fancy stitches or my twin needles but you have inspired me to give them a try. I have a shirt pattern that I think will look lovely with some pintucks down the front. Thanks for this video, have saved it so I can rewatch when I need to, and have subscribed
Thanks Julia - really interesting and inspiring. One question - it concerns the narrow and wide piping feet : what size of cording / piping works with which feet . What is the widest size that can be used in both the narrow and wide feet ?
Hiya just double checked and the narrow cord guide goes up to 1.5mm and the wide goes up to 2mm. It explains on the feet packaging which needles etc too. Xx
I’m catching up now to another interesting stitch club…When you did the twin needle and fancy detail, colour and white on white, were you using embroidery thread, if not would that work for this ? I sometimes find embroidery thread snag. Thank you
I need help deciding what machine to buy for a beginner who wants to learn to make clothes, curtains and hopefully do free hand embroidery too. I heard Janome is the most reliable. I just don’t know what model to get. I’ve searched and compared but it’s baffling! I thought John Lewis would be a good option but do they call the machines different names?!?! I can’t spend more than £400 can anyone advise please? 🙏 Thank you 🙏
You can use different weights, for example a 12 weight or top stitch but I would use a regular 100/80 weight ) or bobbin fill in the bobbin. You would also need a topstitch needle (size 14 Janome red tip). Embroidery floss on the skein would be too tricky as it would be too linty for the top tensions etc. Take a look at the beading foot video I did for how to use decorative stitches over embroidery threads for some beautiful effects.
Love all you videos. I don’t know why but this one looks like you are in a cloud.
Lovely idea. I have done this on my other sewing machine, but look forward to doing this on my Janome MC9850SE. Thank you.
Very interesting video Julia. You have explained very clearly. Thank you very much
You're welcome 😊
