I love how the entire mission felt as if that nameless, cool Marine was the main character and commander of those forces instead of Duran xd. He was so funny and likeable, I even named him Julio after my dad.
"Hey who's messing with the computers?.......oh"
GIVE ME THE DAMNN CODE
Give me damn codes before I blow an aggression inhibitor....
@@poindexter3103 I ain't telling you notin...
@@ghostly8846 *shooting, civ's death sound intensifies*
*BLAM* "Uhh...Oops, heheh"
Chris Metzen really outdid himself voicing these Marines xD
He did an amazing job, he's an actual voice talent for sure.
1:40 "Uuuuuuuh... oops! Hehehe"
That marked my childhood. I do recall perfectly the day i played this mission back in 1999 on my old trusty Pentium II with 64 MB of RAM, i never understood what was the entire Starcraft saga plot nor anything, i just was asking "Where's Stukov?!" nosense
Yeah, this game was the best thing of my childhood!
same! i used to sit on my dad's lap and we would play together
Same, Pentium CPU, mechanical visual style and dark humor, that was the good old time.
This mission introduced the style of humor Blizzard would use in Warcraft 3 and Starcraft II.
and the end of it; too as Activision took them outside like ol' Yeller.
Most if not all the humor was based on 80s and early 90s movie trivia.
It's all Aliens, Terminator, Robocop, Predator, Dune, Star Trek and other popular sci-fi humor. Really cool.
Hit the any key. Hands down hilarious. I wonder if any of those UED marines made it into SC II?
+LordOfGilneas Well, there is the Spartan Company.
True true. But in SC II WoL camp they are represented as Elite Goliaths, I like to believe there were a good deal of survivors.... But the Zerg consume or assimilate all that is not Zerg.Raiden7284677
How about Imperial Guard?
@Combine 96 No, in their description, it states that they are remnant of the UED expeditionary forces. Since the UED was defeated, they decided to band stick together as mercernaries to the highest bidder thanks to their more advanced goliaths.
Whereas the siege breakers are ex-confederates who still use the old Arclite tanks which are heavily modified to surpass the newer Crucio tanks.
@@combinecommando001 you mean they modified an outdated, arclite tank to be even better than a newer gen, crucio tank?
I'd like to think these Marines survived to form Spartan company in my mind canon
One of the best missions in brood war
these marines had more character and charm derived from this one single mission than the entire trilogy of any single character in sc2
I disagree, but only because of Tychus and Alarak.
Hard agree. SC2 sucks ass.
Tychus Findlay? Gabriel Tosh? Alarak? Alexei Stukov?
you guys are like robots, "SC1 good. SC2 bad", doesn't it get tiring? every single comment section from SC1 content is the same nostalgia-blinded shit
@@jopedrop maybe cuz its true
Starcraft 2 definitely missed out on having regular unit narration... There was a few times when regular units would have unique dialogue, but it mostly the enemies.
I love the beginning.
Poor Johny :(
doesnt know what hit any key on a computer means, but he can drive a goliath yeah umm.. okay.
I know guys that can operate forklifts masterfully and still type like they can barely use a keyboard. Different skill sets.
@@thaloh its hard to type with a forklift
1:33 Of course they had to add a Diablo 1 reference :D
for this kind of adventure scenarios in installations, the protoss one in which you meet zeratul for the first time was the best one
I love the one where you escape Aiur through the Warp Gate with Zeratul
Lol the medics are front line
Those are bronze Mercys
They're the tankiest.
I dk why u give medic shield but not marines. They fix it later in sc2
I have an uncle that sounds just like a marine 😂
We all have 😂
it upsets me to know that everyone is dead in this scene according to the plot
They did killed unarmed surrendered personnels as jokes. So that is just karma.
Nope! That marine is still kicking ass and taking names. He has the same VA in Starcraft 2 and STILL cant get out of this chicken shit outfit.
I hated that campaign because of what Duran did...generally i hate Duran
Duran Duran
So they love the smelly toasted zerglings?
Maybe they are good for breakfast
Zerglings fired smell like a KFC
The theory is that marines are given a download of knowledge that's why they all get trained so quickly.
Apparently this doesn't include computer training lol
It's definitely more than a theory if you read the books. resoc can impart skills as well as memories
Poor Jonny
Why didnt we get more severed marines in sc2? I dont like em, but they sure darken the mood
graphics are bright and colourful now, and probably it helps to keep it at a teen rating, for esports, micro transitions, merchandise etc.
@@malcolmholmes2596 Dude, have you SEEN the dismemberment/bisection animations when they get sliced and diced by Zerg or Protoss?
@@BFCrusader
And yet somehow it just doesn't have the same punch as SC1. I think it's the cartoony visuals. Everything in SC2 is like a Fisher Price plastic model compared to the sharp sprites from original.
@@augustday9483 So many people jump to conclusion so fast about this. Developers dont push for ESRB ratings. The thing is a 3d modell is much harder to deal with than a 2d modells. For a 2d modell you can replace a dead unit frame by frame with any picture. So you can go for more gore without any performance issue. Your work is much harder with 3d modells. More work means more money or/and time and consumers (you) start whining. In an rts no NEED more colors becouse of visual cues.
@@hiperblaszter
Actually fun fact: SC1 used 3d models to create the units. They simply took pictures of the models at different angles and baked them into sprites. So if they could make convincing gritty visuals with SC1's cgi models from the mid 90s, surely SC2's models from 10+ years later could have achieved a similar affect. Unfortunately SC2's artstyle is simply bad.
Medic shout is a Quake TF/TFC reference
I love they are commanded by Samir Duran
Cause when going to war, humor is enough!
Love that mission.
Yeah! I'm with the marine i can never find the “any key”
Wait what was the access code?
I think its "Farnham", a character from the original Diablo.
Porn
@@kaarelkahu212 thanks
"shooting sounds"
This was (and is) such an effective way of training new "recruits" on how to play the game.
It's intuitive and fun. You learn by doing. Blizzard was in its golden age back then.
Perfect
Why are the marine so talkative when Duran is there? Like Duran's supposed to be a special unit but the average marines get all of the attention 😂
Wow, that's amazing! I should play Starcraft 1 someday!
Alas, poor Johnny. I knew him, Horatio. 😛
rip johnny 1998
Damn I miss those sounds marine makes
If you leave one marine behind you can use the left over army later when you kill Stukov
What you mean?
@@dirkauditore8413 there will be reinforcement soon at the beginning left one marine there you can get them. But after Stukov is dead they only appear
@@animedaisuki7016 Oh i get it know
THIS IS WHY OLD GAMES ARE THE BESTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Does anyone know if it's still possible to play the original/broodwar online? Maybe a private server or something?
On battle(.)net you can get the original starcraft (and broodwar) for free. The remaster costs money but the normal game is completely free
@@dirstenhorse3913 Thank you
@@tomtomturtleson3546 quick google search shows since remastered and original use the same engine, you can cross platform play between them. So least the community won't be split.
Oh man...poor Johnny :(
"Which one is the any key?" Is that a simpsons reference?
computer look like window98
Medic!
Access code, denIIIed.
Damn this game was goood !
Poor Jhonny...
Press any Key Simpsons reference
seriously though I can't play SC 2 campain because I can't find the any key. which one is it.
Lol
which one is the any key :) ?
XD
Medic!!! Marine should be the 10th class
1:03
Totally ripped from the Simpsons.
Blizzard was never really known for its originality.
Actually when computers were first invented a lot of people would call tech support because they didn't find the any key cuz they thought it was an actual key
in 1988, 80% of people were afraid they could press a wrong key when asked to press the any key (according to apple according to wikipedia).
the simpsons episode aired in 1995
even if the simpsons were the first ones to popularize the joke, it definetly wasn't original anymore in 1995
probably gonna get r/woosh-ed here, but some people might take this seriously ^^
The "press any key" joke is way older than the Simpsons.
That joke is way older than simpson
There is a TF2 Easter egg
Find it yourself
As in Team Fortress 2? How could there be an easter egg for a game released nearly ten years later?
@@tttc they used time-travel it's obvious
no such thing as funnyx or not, say any s ok, any be any funnyx
Clickbait title. There's no funny things.
until today, i dont understand when people worship games like red alert. Redalert 2 and 3 is still inferior to the 1990's starcraft 1. And they definitely didnt fix it in the tiberium series.
Ehhh, better path finding,sc1 has one of the worst path finding i have ever seen
Red Alert 2 is fun, Starcraft is kind of better but yeah the weird pathfinding...
