The most powerful filling of the Holy Spirit came to me after praying for months to be healed of an addiction I had since I was a teenager. This sin would invade my relationship with God and I'd quit mostly under my own power through prayer and repentance and after very intense honesty with God about my personal limitations and that I needed his divine intervention to get rid of my lustful desires because I knew that I could not stop on my own. At that point God laid me out. FLAT on my back. I felt the most blissful filling of this warm flow of overwhelming peace that coursed through my body and seemed to run out of the ends of my fingers and toes. My cup literally overflowed. The entire next day I had this intense peace that was with me everywhere I went. I would look at strangers at the supermarket and had this intense love for them that I'd never experienced before. I've tried talking with my church leaders about it because I wanted to make sure that this was a biblical occurrence. I never got a good explanation but I would like to thank you, Pastor John, for your explanation that it is something that can happen more than just once. Thank you also for mentioning your other episodes on this incredible subject that changed my life. I haven't revisited the sin in almost a year now. Praise Jesus!!!
Whenever The Spirit speaks through me, I'm usually humbled. People listen. Afterwards people will tell me that they felt the power of The Spirit speaking thru me. Praise Our Father for such beautiful gifts that glorify Him!
As a believer in a church that believes in the continuation of the gifts of the Spirit, I appreciate this message. God has blessed me with the gift of speaking in tongues, although it happens usually only during special times when I am seeking Him, or He pours it out on me in His mercy. Notice how Piper doesn't criticize the Pentecostal movement as some reformed teachers have. What a blessing John Piper is to the church today!
My friends recently become Reformed after watching John mcarther and now they claim that im possessed because they have seen and experienced the supernatural but because they don't believe God does that they have stopped being my mates as they think im possessed. They ain't judging by fruits, or works but by the last miracle.

Everything on this earth will be nothing someday. Trust in Jesus alone, read the scriptures. And guide your sins, wear your cross and try your best not to sin. Love your neighbour as yourself, that's all you can do. Pray for yourself and your friends, grace and mercy is all we can pray and ask for. Ño one can deny the Baptism in the Holy Spirit if they have experienced it themselves, I' m here to tell you it is real, Not a feeling, but true experience It's truly a gift from God to those that live holy, clean christian lives that have a heart for God dedicated totally to Him.❤
It is given and poured out upon an individual by Jesus. We can't command it to happen. It happened to me at a time I was not prepared for but I know what it was. Roughly 30 yrs after accepting the Lord as Savior.
Being baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT is receiving the WORD from GOD HIMSELF, through the HOLY SPIRIT to your spirit! Receiving the GOSPEL OF CHRIST! TRUTH!
I think you need to do some research in the book of acts & of what was the sign that believers were filled or Baptised with the Holy Spirit. It has not changed. The gifts have no ceased

Oh wow! This is the best teaching on baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit the I have ever heard!!! Seeking fresh baptisms is also something that I've never heard preached before ❤
That's the part of this talk that I don't agree with because there are no instructions to seek more baptisms in the HS. Not one. So Piper creates confusion by not understanding the difference between being filled with the HS and the baptism in or with the HS. As he rightly says at one point, many times we can be filled with the HS.
AMEN! PRAISE BE TO GOD, THE HOLY TRINITY! One day, out of the blue, I understood completely how much God loves and cherishes me as I am. So I invited him to fill my heart with His Love and Heavenly Peace overflowing. I felt his love surround me like a warm comforting blanket. I no longer worry about what anyone thinks of me. Whether they like me or not. Care about me or not. Knowing Jesus loves me by dying on the cross to save me from hell is more than enough for me! Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful (humbled and his disciples of peace). Colossians 3:15 NIV My heart is filled with so much of his heavenly peace that it overflows with heavenly love. I feel so loved and cherished. NO ONE AND NOTHING CAN EVER HURT ME AGAIN! Now, I am at peace with everything and everyone in my life. I can even forgive and bless my enemies! If you haven't already, I encourage you to invite him! He is knocking at the door of your heart waiting for you to open it so he can embrace you with Heavenly Love! JESUS SAID keep your mind on him and he will keep you in perfect heavenly peace. NO ONE AND NOTHING WILL HARM YOU WHEN HE'S IN YOUR HEART.🤗😌🙏
I go to a missions college called Bethany Global University. Pray for us to come to know the Lord intimately and be compelled by His love to go to the ends of the world.
I had been in the Mormon church a few years, previously a nominal Christian believer in the methodist church as a child and baptised at 16 into mormonism. After about 10 years later and married with children I was drawn to reading my bible more and egan to have doubts about mormon teaching. I went to hear an ex mormon preacher from Utah, Einar Anderson in a local Methodist church. He pointed out several scriptures and explained things to me. One evening as I was praying on my knees I was reading where Paul asked the believers had They received the Holy Spirit since They believe, They answered No, so he laid hands on them and the received the Holy Spirit. As I was reading this the power of God came down on me as I lay on the floor and I was filled with what I'd describe as being embalmed in an orgasam of shall
I was always taught "to get into heaven you need to be baptized" I went to a seventh day Adventist Church my whole life and ever since I started teaching myself the Bible and reading more rather than listening to the church, I learn a lot more things

You will know when it happens. And you will NEVER be the same again. I wasn’t saved when it happened to me and I had no idea what it meant to be born again of the Holy Spirit. I went to church and was baptized as soon as possible and am still being filled with the Spirit. Glory be to Jesus Christ!
Same. It's wasn't about just speaking in tongues or being engulfed in the power of God, the greatest thing was an immediate change of life style for God and the things of God. God bless you I hope the Lord has continued to feel
Thank you Pastor John for breaking down this question so eloquently. You just gave me a revelation and new understanding of the Holy Spirit. My church but such an emphasis on solely the experience (Speak in Tongues) that I hindered myself from speaking in tongues and thought I wasn’t saved without it. Seeing people run, faint, etc terrified me. I did eventually speak in tongues without the fainting, running etc. It’s easy for us to think our “filling” will be similar to others, but I’m a living witness that you can experince a different type of filling.
The Spirit 1.Convicts us of sin 2.Testifies the scriptures are true in proclaiming Jesus Christ as the Son of god and only salvation After that perhaps it can be different for people but those two are essential to know what Spirit it is. You must know Gods WOrd to know Him.
lol you werent saved when you didnt speak in tongues Mark 16:16-18 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
Such a clarifying and biblically accurate answer! It makes me want to meditate upon God's Word even more and more... All answers are in there! If we strive to look for them sincerely and diligently, the Holy Spirit will surely help us. Thank you once more for sharing what God has given you, pr. John, and Desiring God team. My desire is to be thus used by Him too, in order to bring people to light, to the knowledge of truth. May God keep blessing you all greatly!
Amen, Pastor! In Acts 1, Jesus said Promise Of The Father, and the fulfillment of Pentecost. He has come to fulfill the law and the prophets. Everything in the Old Testament is a shadow of things to come. Lot of people and churches miss this part.
God bless U pastor John. This is a very balanced and metered presentation. Our God is a living God that we can experience daily. I believe any christian who is not experiencing the Holy Spirit is missing the taste of following Jesus
I was baptized by the holy spirit a week before easter and it was 100% real felt similar too how it is after an intense acid trip or ahyuasca session but all i did was ball like a baby for my sins and his love for me.. very profoud change im so thankful!!!!
As long as Christianity lasts, this sort of question will always follow especially among Christendom. Pastor John is compassionately explaining systematically of (for example) Jesus' definition, Luke's definition and and Paul's of Spirit's baptism. And they all agree with different terminology. For me, I never worry about being baptized with the Holy Spirit since it's the same with being born again. I agree with Pastor that Holy Spirit's baptism is an act by which the Holy Spirit unites believers with Christ. This union with Christ occurs at the moment of being born again because regeneration cannot happen without the work of the Holy Spirit in uniting us with our Lord Jesus Christ. Honestly, I don't agree with those who say Spirit's baptism is necessary after being born again because I couldn't relate this teaching with Biblical teaching but this doesn't mean I don't agree with the teaching about the need of Spirit's empowerment in witnessing the Gospel of Christ.
Ephesians 1: 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, When you repent and put your trust in Christ and his finished work on the cross you will be sealed with the Holy spirit as scripture states. God Bless-Nick

@@thetruthwithproof8802 Google the "Got Questions" website, or download the app. It's pretty good at giving clear answers to virtually every question relating to God and the Bible etc. They explain it biblically much better than many people can. It shouldn't be too difficult for you judging by the content you've watched on your own RUclips channel. Don't forget that ultimately our definitive understanding of Holy Spirit has to come from scripture. If you are actually 11 years old, then you're asking the right questions. 👍
THE TRUTH WITH PROOF yes! Repent of your sin, turn to Jesus Christ for forgiveness. Believe He is the Son of God who died for your sins, and was raised from the dead, so we can have life. Submit to Him as Lord of your life, and you will be born again! Made new. The Holy Spirit (the Spirit of God) will come and live in you to give you eternal life. It’s that simple - and do you have access to a Bible? That is God’s life-giving Word for your life. May Christ bless you richly with faith!
THE TRUTH WITH PROOF The Holy Spirit is every thought that you will ever have. Any thought that hinders or disturbs the mind is a lying spirit. I envy you because your mind is fresh and full of inquiries. I let mine run wild for many years so now I have to learn to be like you!
Don't worry... if you don't want to speak in tongues, you never will. I had this experience when I was a new believer and didn't know what I was being prayed for because if this was from God, I wanted everything He had for me. I believe total surrender is the key.
Yes this video has the clear message on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We all need experiencial knowledge of the working of the Holy Spirit. It is very obvious that when we surrender more to the LORD, we experience more of Him in our lives. Through Christ the Holy Spirit brings us to the revelation of Christ, and the Father. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is empowering as this brother says, and also reveals to us the wonder of the Tri-une God Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The more we give to God of ourselves the more we receive from the Lord who has that Abundant life already in us when we are born again. I am not ashamed of experiencing the speaking in tongues, I will not argue its purpose with anyone. ALL I know is that the Tongues in my prayer life are so advantageous.
Thankyou Pastor John. I have been praying about speaking in tongues and why I am not able to..and yet I feel the Holy Spirit in me..guiding me..after your teaching, I feel free of this misunderstanding..will continue on this path🙏
I went through this also. What helped me a great deal was learning that two of my favorite teaching pastors do not speak in tongues- Francis Chan and John Piper!!!
Speaking in tongues is speaking in another language to help spread the Word of God, to those around you who don’t speak your language. Not speaking in phrases that no one understands not even the person speaking it… How does that edify the church
This video and also the comments have helped me in my understanding of this topic. I live in such a state spiritual blindness, it brings me so much pain that I don't have truly holy people around to talk scripture with. There are a few people that I do know that are so dogmatic as to be down right difficult to communicate with, so I don't, it is their way and no other. My wife's church is that way. I know in my heart what the baptism of the Holy Spirit means, I just am not able to put it together scripturally or verbally. They often use Acts 2:38. After sunday worship they have their ushers go and round up any new comers, usher them to the front, the pastor says a few words to them and asks if they believe in Jesus, they usually say yes. He then proceeds to invite them to b baptised and filled with the Holy Spirit. This is a church with a multi national following and is pretty large in size. Their error runs so deep on so many christian beliefs. Please pray for them, and me.
Paul differentiated between the Baptism of belief and repentance by John the Baptist and the Holy Spirit in Acts 19:2 when he came upon the new disciples of Ephesus. He asked them if they received the Holy Ghost when they believed. They were believers but didn’t even know of the Holy Spirit as they were only baptized by water. They were then baptized in Jesus name when Paul explained they should believe on him “Jesus” who came after John the Baptist so they then became Baptized in Jesus name. Then he laid his hands on them and the Holy Spirit came upon them followed by speaking in tongues and prophecy. It was obviously important to Paul to inquire of these believers of the Holy Spirit baptism and then make sure they experienced it. I still struggle with this after reading 1st Corinthians 13-14 and all that Paul dealt with in that church. They were getting carried away with the use of speaking in tongues. My church encourages this but does not strictly adhere to Paul’s instructions during church service and interpretation, prophecy, etc. I’m still praying that God will help me understand this better.
Hi! Hope this helps ^_^. Sorry for the long message. Does the Baptism with the Holy Spirit still exist today? Ephesians 4:4-6: There is one baptism - which one? (Written about 60-62 A.D.). There are three options: John's baptism - Passed when the new covenant began. (Acts 19:1-5) The Baptism with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2 and Acts 10) - is no longer present as it was a prophecy/promise that has been fulfilled. It was never a general command for all Christians. Baptism with water in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Jesus commanded this baptism. (Matthew 28:18-20) This baptism is recorded all the way through the book of Acts and the Epistles. In fact, Peter was present for all the baptisms: John's baptism, both accounts of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and preached water baptism in the name of Jesus in Acts 2 (33 A.D.) and in 1 Peter 3:18-21 (written around 64 A.D.), well after all the events of the book of Acts. It had to be the one baptism of Ephesians 4:4-6 as it was the only one practiced by 60-62 A.D. when Ephesians was written. The miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit (next lesson) Received by the apostles' laying on of hands No longer present today
General Observations Apostles were able to pass on the gifts because they were apostles. The Apostles possessed the ability to perform miracles even during the ministry of Christ (Luke 9:1). This ability to pass and perform the gifts was not given at Pentecost. 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 are not the directives on how to receive tongues (the church there had already received them), but rather the correctives on how to use them because everyone was speaking at the same time and misusing the tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:28-30 shows that tongues as a gift were not given to everyone in the church. Thus the concept of a "Pentecostal church" (every member speaking in tongues) is contrary to Scripture. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10: "Perfection" here could not mean the coming of Christ because it is in the neuter gender in Greek, not the masculine gender. When perfection comes probably refers to the canonization of the Bible some time after the first century. At that time, all the miraculous gifts would be gone because all the apostles and those to whom they passed the gifts would have died. The purpose of the miraculous gifts from 1 Corinthians 14:20-22: To get non-believers to believe (tongues were only to be used to bring non-believers to faith). To edify the Christians and strengthen their faith. Now the Bible fulfills these needs - thus the church today does not need apostles or miraculous gifts. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 shows that there can be miracles by Satan today. Satan's purpose is to deceive people about the truth, so they will not be saved. Speaking in "tongues" is common in many religions (Mormon, Catholic, Islam, etc.), because religion gets dried and staid. These are also called "ecstatic utterances" - non-understandable sounds and fragments of speech. A person can be filled with the Spirit without speaking in tongues (Ephesians 5:18-20). Jesus never spoke in tongues and he was accorded the full-measure of the Spirit (John 3:34-36).
I only hope that all who question about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, only seek and receive the experience that changes them including opening their eyes of their hearts to see the truth about this. Unfortunately many are just satisfied with theological answers not-pressing on to the life changing infused life in the Holy Spirit. Going to the right assembly of believers makes a difference.
The only thing that ever gets in our way. Is our carnal nature to exercise our free will. If we stay in him focused on him all times we can and mostly are emerged in the holy spirit. But when we walk outside of him we loose that anointing. And we know we must get back into focus. Anytime we are not emerged we are separated and must seek him and get back to him. That's how we live in his will and not our own not thru our own understanding but thru his. Will. We are then one with him in him. And that's why we need to stay focused on him all times.
I am not sure this is very clear. Sure there are times of empowerment by the Holy Spirit but still too much emphasis is put on feelings and physical experiences. Too many Christians and deceived unbelievers seek these because Jesus is not enough for the carnal mindset. The best and most clear supernatural effect of the Holy spirit is a life of holiness and righteousness. (not that it is necessarily perfect)
The Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth, God's truth. The Holy Spirit is a title, given to a person that receives the spirit of truth. Jesus said, I will ask the father and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, the spirit of truth, but when he, the spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. I tell you the truth, it is good for you that I go away, cause if i do not go, he will not come, but if I do go, I will send him to you. This is someone else other then Jesus coming. Who will be with us forever, and will guide us into all truth. The father and son will come into him and make him there home. This is the Holy Spirit, when he receives the spirit of truth.
@@matasaina2011 The Holy Spirit very seldom impacts my feelings, but He does prompt me to fear God, to be thankful and to praise. He most definitely impacts my understanding of the Word and my obedience. My feelings and emotions almost always get in the way of trusting God and believing His word. (Thanks for your gracious reply, most people on RUclips only want to argue and debate)
Like John said it’s about “Christ exalting ministry” it’s not about feelings but fruit. We might “feel” the spirit working but that’s not the emphasis of what John is talking about. If we don’t end up loving people more, preaching the gospel more, repenting, and etc.. then we need to gain a better understanding of what it means to be filled with the spirit.
I know that there were 2 very distinct feelings between getting baptized by water and baptism by the Spirit. Being baptized by water made me feel like I had a clean slate to start over, and being baptized by the Spirit made me feel like the walls between us were broken down and I was standing next to God. Metaphorically speaking, water baptism felt like adoption papers were signed and Spirit baptism felt like family bonding. Now, yes I did have some Christians with charismatic backgrounds lay hands on me to pray for that baptism and to pray in tongues. But nobody fell and convulsed on the ground. In fact, biblically speaking there was only one kind of event where people fell and convulsed- exorcism of demons by Jesus.
The Holy Spirit give you power to be bold and let me warn you don't ever try to rebuke a demon without being filled with the baptism of the Holy Spirit he will laugh in your face
Good description..we initially have to ask God for the baptism.. The scripture that says the Father wouldn't give His child a stone or serpent is to comfort those who fear the experience is demonic (as many say about tongues)

I'm afraid no one falls into any sin. Please read the book of James. But each when tempted by his own desire, is led away by it, into sin. To sin against God is a conscious act of the will. It's part of what makes it so outrageous. Look carefully at yourself, whatever your particular sin is, recognising your guilt and inability to be holy on your own, as the rest of us. Repenting from sin must be done consciously with a desire to turn your heart to God for salvation and for satisfaction. Or else you will return to sin.
What you need to know is to Expand your knowledge of God , then you will have all the motivation for your Christian Life ! All True Christians or baptized with the Holy Spirit and conversion
the power brings salvation. its not separate 2 Corinthians 1:22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
Many Christians like Billy Graham, Hudson Taylor and John Sung did not have specific baptism of Holy Spirit moments in their lives except the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at the moment of conversion. They were filled by the Holy Spirit to evangelise and many people were saved. My view is keep confessing our sins the moment we are aware of them and the Holy Spirit will be able to work through us powerfully.
This is very on point! Martyn Lloyd-Jones is more detailed and explicit, but in essence this is the very truth on the baptism of the Holy Spirit! Ofc people tend to take everything to extremes because that's the human he likes extremes... And I know that charismatics brought this even to heresy and weird external manifestations that is NOT of three Holy Spirit! But you can't eliminate that part from the Bible just because you saw people distorting something from the Bible...
This sounds very similar to what happens during my daily time in the Word and prayer. Or am I wrong in my interpretation? I remember a warmth and feeling of overwhelming love when I became born again but many times during by quiet times I experience overwhelming presence of Christ in my prayer times or times in the word or when telling others about Christ. I’ve never known this as anything other than the presence of God, are you saying this could be baptism in the spirit? I’m just trying to understand, thank you.
I had this when I was born again. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is different. Gives you power and strength, sort of on the inside. That was not there before I was baptised in HS. Check out The Last Reformation " The Life" documentary film by TLR and other short videos on youtube.☺
The Holy Spirit is always with you from the moment you are born again, you will sence Him, you know that He is there if the fruits of the Holy Spirit are there (joy , pace, love, kindness, patience...) . The baptism is something more...it gives you boldness to say to everyone about Jesus, you don't care anymore of what the people think about you. It gives you strength to surpass, endure everything, even torture. Think like that: the first, is His presence in a small quantity, the second (the baptism) is a total fullness.

I think the issue is not whether one is empowered by the Spirit again and again. Most believers would agree with that. But the issue is whether the dwelling of the Spirit resides in the believers when they have a conversion experience. Often I heard from Pentecostal pastors, although one is a believer, the Holy Spirit does not dwell in them, or does any work in them. That happens only after the baptism of the Spirit.
Thankyou Pastor John I am come from pentecostal denomination and I have gone through treasuring experience (which I don't want to forget in my life long because whenever I have a doubt or unsolved question I can look back to those experience) in so called pentecostal meeting. But same time as I am growing in word of God I find some practice of pentecostal are extreme which not even in Bible . So sometime I got confused whether to deny all the experience of pentecostalism or to embrace. Any way thankyou for helping us specially those who are from our denomination. We need more correction in our denomination. We will be glad if you could lovingly teach us biblical teaching. Love and prayer to you.
I grew up in a Pentecostal denomination as well. And I have noticed some things they teach not according to scripture. But I do very much like their emphasis on strong prayer and living in Holiness. About experiences... I don't think it's good to always try to seek experiences, for we live by faith and truth not by sight. We must submit to truth and trust the truth of God's word more than our experience. Some false teachings like Mormonism say they experience God by reading the book of Mormon (and by that they find it to be truth)but the book of Mormon contradicts God and his revealed truth in the Bible. But also experiences are good as I have felt great joy, love, and repentance at times in deep prayer and Bible study. As long as that experience drives you closer to his written word and knowing Christ they're good. I suggest you study 1 Cor 12-14. I have noticed that Pentecostals have an over emphasize on the spiritual gifts (like during prayer service everyone will speak in tongues out loud without an interpreter(1 Cor 14:26-28). The Bible doesn't teach that the gifts have ceased but we need a balanced view of them and be biblical in how we use them.
When the Pentecostal experience came in to the other denominations decades ago it was the teaching that one required the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as a second blessing. It was the way to receive power and supernatural gifts. However, charismatics outside the Pentecostal church learned not to say that openly because they were essentially claiming to be on a higher spiritual plane. I notice nowadays that the debate between say Phil Johnson and charismatics tends only to be about the gifts such as tongues, prophecy etc. But not the second blessing teaching. At least with the Pentecostal teaching of a two stage (as it were) conversion experience the teaching is clear. Note the subtlety of Mr Piper’ s teaching in that of course we all need to be vigilant in seeking to be filled with the Spirit by obedience to the Word, but this doesn’t mean a second experience of manifestations. The inference of Mr Piper’s teaching is that a second blessing to receive power and manifestations is necessary.
If a person speaks in "tongues" which is not a known tongue, it is not the manifestation found in Acts chapter 2. The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to those in the New Covenant. (Jeremiah 31:31-34) Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. .
Based on Mark 1:8, and Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-17, the most important thing about the word "baptism" in the New Testament has nothing to do with water. This fact is confirmed by Romans 8:9, and 1 Corinthians 3:16, and Ephesians 1:13. In John 3 Christ revealed that nobody enters the kingdom of God without being "born-again" of the Spirit of God. The only baptism that is important for salvation cannot be performed by a man. It comes upon hearing, and believing, and is performed by Christ.
Unto what then were you baptised in? Unto Johns baptism for repentance. Then he commanded them to be baptized in the Name of Jesus. We are to be born of WATER and SPIRIT...water is liquid. Its not the water that cleanse us, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh but of a good conscience towards God.
@@ChristisSaviour Paul fell the need to empathize the one baptism in Ephisian written aroud 60 to 62 AD because people were confusing the 3 baptism mentioned in Acts. 1.John's baptism - Passed when the new covenant began. (Acts 19:1-5) 2.The Baptism with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2 and Acts 10) - is no longer present as it was a prophecy/promise that has been fulfilled. It was never a general command for all Christians. 3.Baptism with water in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
In Eph 5:18Paul seems to follow the Lukan meaning: “Do not get drunk on wine…, Instead go on [repeatedly in Gk construction] being filled with the Spirit…”
Quote from Billy Graham’s book on the Holy Spirit:- “I simply cannot find any biblical reason for saying that tongues is a gift God desires to give all believers. Some may be given the gift, while many others will not be given it. It would be wrong for someone who has not been given this gift of tongues to feel somehow they are a “Second Rate” Christian, or earnestly covet this gift if God has not seen fit to give it to them. It would be equally wrong for someone who has this gift to try to compel others to have it, or to teach that everyone must experience it. In fact, millions of spiritually mature Christians have never spoken in tongues, and many who have spoken in tongues are not spiritually mature”
Can you guess who wrote the following? "Nine-tenths, at least, of the church members never think of speaking for Christ. If they see a man, perhaps a near relative, just going right down to ruin, going rapidly, they never think of speaking to him about his sinful course and of seeking to win him to Christ. Now certainly there must be something wrong. And yet when you talk with them you find they have faith, and you can not say they are not children of God; but they have not the power, they have not the liberty, they have not the love that real disciples of Christ should have. A great many people are thinking that we need new measures, that we need new churches, that we need new organs, and that we need new choirs, and all these new things. That is not what the Church of God needs today. It is the old power that the Apostles had; that is what we want, if we have that in our churches, there will be new life. Then we will have new ministers--the same old ministers renewed with power; filled with the Holy Spirit." Dwight L. Moody, in his book "Secret Power", published in 1881 We must confess and repent, turn toward God, and invite the Holy Spirit into us, daily as John Piper suggests.
Great sharing!!! I just started listening to DL Moody's The Overcoming Life via Aneko Press Christian audio books. Amazing that he was so heavily criticized as not being an outstanding orator or worthwhile theologian by "certain standards." So far, I beg to differ...
Acts 2:4 KJVS [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 19:6 KJVS [6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. Romans 8:13-17 KJVS [13] For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. [14] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. [15] For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. [16] The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: [17] And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. www.justifiedfreely.com/?p=785
Mr. C No, no fire above my head but I did get the fiery trial. 1 Peter 4:12-13 KJV [12] Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: [13] But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
One way to see the difference between being baptized into the body of Christ and being baptized with the Spirit by Jesus. In one case the Spirit is the baptizer and in the other case Jesus is the baptizer.
1 Corinthians 12:13 [13]For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. This is a baptism BY the Spirit into the body of Christ. Acts 1:5 [5]For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. This is a baptism WITH or OF the Holy Spirit which is done by Jesus Christ. Matthew 3:11 [11]I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: As you can see these are 2 separate experiences. They can and should happen together when we preach the true Gopel as Peter preached in Acts 2 Acts 2:38 [38]Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Hope this helps clarify things 😊 Be blessed all 🙌
I agree they are two different experiences. When I was baptized by water I didn’t fully understand what I was doing. I knew that it was for my sins to be forgiven, but I didn’t even know that repentance meant changing your mind. I just felt led to be baptized. I feel the Holy Spirit’s presence around me, but I don’t feel it truly dwelling within me. I think there’s a difference between being baptized with water and having the spirit Indwell within you. I believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit may come when you have great faith in Jesus and the Gospel, possibly more understanding. This may also be why the western church isn’t walking in the power of the Spirit as the disciples did. I think a lot of people like myself found faith in Jesus but weren’t trained or taught much afterwards, whether they went back to the world or just didn’t have good teachers to disciple them. I think it’s a topic more people should be talking about. We would probably see more power in our churches if we earnestly sought the Holy Spirit. (Not to take place of Jesus of course, but it’s His spirit that we need to live, and I think many of us don’t truly have it yet.)
@@CreatingWithTheCreator Amen! 🙏 I also agree with you. We need more discussion and teaching on these matters because they are and will be life for the believer 🙌 Be blessed my sister in Christ 😇
Totally agree with you all, but experience is different, by the Grace and Power of our Lord I feel and see that I have been baptized into Christ my Lord and he is freely given me the gift of the HS, I now am a new creation in Christ walking with him in the Power of his might, shining for his Glorious Light.. I am now living in his Truth like he said in John 4:23_24 that God seeks those who worship him in Spirit and Truth, I'm forever greatful to walk with my Lord daily by trusting in him. Newness of life. My Past is history and my future in Christ is my Victory through his spirit in me. Love him forevermore. The thing that I'm really greatful about is I now understand the true meaning of baptism in the HS makes a person be born again, why John said I baptize with water, but he Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire.. and he did that for me. Since I've never been baptized at all, just a sprinkle when I was a baby and I knew that wasnt right. But now I know that we don't have to baptized by water, because when we give our whole hearts to Jesus and accept him, trust in him to lead us, he will baptize us in his name and the gift us with the HS. Happy Seventh day Sabbath (Saturday) to yous all my brothers and sisters in Christ. Peace Shalom
There is some crazy stuff people do and say it is the Holy Spirit. But don't let that keep you from the truth. Acts teaches us that when we receive the Holy Spirit we will speak in tongues. 1 Corinthians teaches us how the Holy Spirit is to be expressed in the Church. The Corinth Church were over enthusiastic with tongues. We are also instructed to pray in tongues and in our own normal language. To pray in the Spirit is to pray in tongues. It is no more complicated than that but very powerful. In church, Paul tells us for two or three to speak out in tongues with interpretation each time, the two or three prophesies. I only know of one church that does that.
Thank you pastor John. The Charis magic makes such a show out of being slain in the spirit that makes me sick. What could be more of the opposite of what Christianity should be.
Just imagine the bible says that John the baptist was born with the Holy Spirit, probably the only human man to ever be. The bible does not say John the baptist was sinless. Powerful! We can have God inside of us, but still be sinners. I believe the Holy Spirit functions as a spiritual christian aid, and without the Holy Spirit, we will not last long spiritually in this world.
John I don’t often disagree with your exegesis but we are only baptised with the Holy Spirit once at conversion, however we ought to be filled with the Spirit and this may be our privilege as we submit to the Lordship of Christ
Having grown up in Apostolic and Pentecostal churches....speaking in tongues, taking flight and running laps inside the churches, shouting and rejoices, falling out (the way that this host explains in the beginning) is ALL normal to me. Members experiencing these acts are interacting with the Holy Spirit. Each member of the church will have his/her OWN experience. There is NO RIGHT or WRONG way to experience the Holy Spirit. So, I don't know why he (the host) states that it makes him uncomfortable. 😏
The Holy Spirit had not yet been sent. I always thought the ‘secondary baptism of the Holy Spirit’ was for those who had been converted prior to Him being sent. Does the bible speak of baptism of the Holy Spirit occurring for those who were converted after His arrival (Pentecost)?
Hi! Taking away from Acts, Ephisian, and 1 Peter Does the Baptism with the Holy Spirit still exist today? It had to be the one baptism of Ephesians 4:4-6 as it was the only one practiced by 60-62 A.D. when Ephesians was written. If you want more information I can refer you to more study sources or my church does bible studies in depth on that.
@@Valeska6000 Yes it does, Hebrews 6 states it as Baptisms being plural. Acts 19:6 we have ppl being baptised in Holy Spirit when Paul laid his hands on them Acts 8:17 When Peter laid his hands on the they also received the Holy Spirit. All post Day of Pentecost
Baptism of the Holy Spirit like described in Acts is real, separate from being born of the Spirit, and has never ceased. Anyone who has been baptized in the Spirit knows without a doubt they have because it is overwhelming experience where the Spirit rushes upon you and fills you entire spirit and soul and immediately changes your heart. I experienced it and didn’t know anything about it and wasn’t in a church that even talked about it. I was filled with the holiness and love of Christ and power to proclaim the gospel which I never did before. All my desires and affections and thinking completely changed and wanted Christ to control every part of my life. It was a desperate experience for me but happened only a few months after my conversion. My mind was illuminated and enlightened immediately when it happened. I knew nothing about it but knew what it was immediately because the whole experience matched up with scripture. I could feel the Spirit in me daily and expedited daily overwhelming joy, love, peace, patience, hope, self control, and a love for God’s word that I never had before.
With all due respect, if the day of pentecost was necessary, and the Baptism "with" the Holy Spirit was a second baptism then, that pattern does not change. There are three Baptisms. And Pastor John, if you dont believe in speaking in tongues, that's okay. But dont Blaspheme it and call it "unusual". I can give you scriptures that supports speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the Baptism "with" the Holy Spirit. The lack of power in the churches is their reliance on their power and not the power of the Holy Spirit! Stay Blessed!
Paul said not all people are given the gift of tongues. It is the Holy Spirit who determines what gifts to give to believers. I know of many godly people who don’t speak in tongues but whose lives are being lived for God. Tongues is not the evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit.
My understanding from the Word concerning the Holy Spirit baptism is 1) Recieving the Holy Spirit occurs as a result of the Holy Spirit baptism. In Acts, there is no record of a believer Recieving the Holy Spirit as a separate event from the Spirit baptism. There also is no instance where a believer recieved the Holy Spirit baptism and didn't speak in "tongues". To clarify, " tongues", in the original Koine Greek that the N.T. was written in, means " another language" and "a language". Speaking in " tongues" is speaking one spiritual language not native to the people of this world. So in Acts ch.2, upon Recieving the Holy Spirit baptism all the believers spoke in one spiritual language. The miracle for the men in the crowd was that the each Heard what was being said in their own language what the apostles were saying in one spiritual language. This is confirmed by the fact that three times the men in the crowd said " How HEAR we them in our own language?" This is biblical confirmation. 2) Recieving the Holy Spirit doesn't occur at conversion but as a subsequent event. When a seeker hears the Word of God and their heart recieves the "seed" of that Word into their heart they must then act on what they have come to believe is true. They must make a conscious decision to " obey the gospel". At Sauls conversion, he was blinded on the road to Damascus and fasted and prayed for three days. He was indeed converted and yet Ananias said to him," Why tarriest thou ? Arise and be baptized calling on the name of the Lord". He had been praying for three days. This praying or calling on the Lord was in order to recieve/ be baptized in the Holy Spirit. Lastly, repentance is completed by water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, water baptism is completed by Spirit baptism. "One Lord, one faith, and one baptism."
@@memorieswithmarta The gift of speaking in " tongues", as one of the gifts, is to be accompanied by the gift of interpretation of " tongues" for the edification of a church body. Although it is the same spiritual language and definitely a gift speaking in " tongues" as the initial sign of the believer Recieving the Holy Spirit baptism and the believers private prayer language is a different operation of speaking in " tongues". The prayer language is for the edification of the individual believer.
Former charismatic here. There is a different spirit and fake tongues that is pervasive these days. When people elevate supernatural above Gods Word, they are easily deceived.i was!
Isaiah 28:9-13 is the prophecy, 1 Cor 14:21; Paul teaches it is for those who have obeyed, Acts 5:32; Jesus said they who believe will cast out devils, heal the sick, and speak in other tongues, Mark 6:17; It is a gift, you have to ask for it. This is why it's a second work of Grace. You must be saved to receive it. The anointing has different administrations, different to each person. It's real, I have it.
I appreciate pipers honesty and boldness in approaching every issue which most pastors won’t touch! But I’m sorely disappointed in this episode, he never actually addresses wether someone being laid out cold passed out, is empowering that person to then evangelize! I agree with his interpretation of the text but how that’s manifested he didn’t dare address! And that was the actual question! Of it makes a Christian uncomfortable then please point out proof afterwards how it was the work of the Holy Spirit
Brother, see it as this. You're ruining the vessle that God gave you. You should take care of the body you've been given. 1 Cor 6:19-20 Gods bless and stay strong ♥️
Experience is not a valid test of truth. Truth will most certainly inform ones emotions (plenty of that in Psalms). The Holy Spirit convicts, informs, encourages, exalts Christ etc. through the Word of God. That in turn will cause us to feel: convicted, assured, wanting to praise God etc. We all need to feel, but it comes by the Word. Just feeling chills or "electricity" on its own is not the Holy Spirit. At best it is self-suggestion, at worst it can be demonic. I want you to experience God in all his fullness and with your heart and mind overflowing with emotion towards him, but it only comes through knowing him as he is revealed in scripture. Keep on keeping on, brother.
There are 2 kinds of speaking in tounges. There is when the disciples we preaching and many different languages all heard and communicated through holy spirit. But then their is speaking in a heavenly language that is supposed to be interpreted by another person. Ive heard a few people I know very well, speak in tounges. They spoke a heavenly language that a man in the crowd interpreted. But the women i heard do this spoke a beautifully fluent language like ive never heard. It flows forth from the person like a river it flows so smoothly. It doesn't sound like gibberish, it is beautiful, flowing, angelic tounge. ✨️. If you want to tell me im wrong, save it cause i know what I know. Been a Christian my whole life, i dont claim to know anything other than Christ Jesus is the only begotten son of the most high God. He will be returning to judge us all. And i will have to answer for what i just told yall. I would never blaspheme the holy spirit like that.
My understanding; baptism of the holy spirit and being filled with the holy spirit are not the same thing. Baptism, is the receiving of the holy spirit....or being born of the spirit. It's a second birth. Spiritual birth. It is being added to the body of Christ (to the church). Only someone baptized with the holy spirit can be filled with the holy spirit. Which is an empowerment for a specific service.
Baptism carries the idea of initiation into a new order of things or experience. So it is the first time experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Out of the fullness of the heart a man speaks. Thus the Baptism of the HS is evidenced by the outflow of tongues, the HS-given language. This is the same kind of manifestation as in the event of the Tower of Babel in the creation of 70 new people groups. Pentecost can thus be viewed also as the event of the first appearing of a new people, the heavenly race. Also, the collective outburst of loud tongues speaking about the mighty works (Acts 2:11) is in fact a proclamation of the entry of the new people (the Church/nation 1 Pe 2:5-9). The collective act as a when is the symbolic announcement of the invasion if the Lord's people upon the kingdom of Satan. This is applicable to individual's experience of the baptism of the HS as well.

As a believer in a church that believes in the continuation of the gifts of the Spirit, I appreciate this message. God has blessed me with the gift of speaking in tongues, although it happens usually only during special times when I am seeking Him, or He pours it out on me in His mercy.

The Spirit
1.Convicts us of sin
2.Testifies the scriptures are true in proclaiming Jesus Christ as the Son of god and only salvation
After that perhaps it can be different for people but those two are essential to know what Spirit it is. You must know Gods WOrd to know Him.

I had a very similar experience on 4/21/24 but I believe it began right around Palm Sunday. Extremely powerful and overwhelming

Very good point. Thanks for pointing out. Did you ever figure it out? Thanks
Hi! Hope this helps ^_^. Sorry for the long message.
Does the Baptism with the Holy Spirit still exist today? Ephesians 4:4-6: There is one baptism - which one? (Written about 60-62 A.D.). There are three options:
John's baptism - Passed when the new covenant began. (Acts 19:1-5)
The Baptism with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2 and Acts 10) - is no longer present as it was a prophecy/promise that has been fulfilled. It was never a general command for all Christians.
Baptism with water in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus commanded this baptism. (Matthew 28:18-20)
This baptism is recorded all the way through the book of Acts and the Epistles.
The miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit (next lesson)
Received by the apostles' laying on of hands
No longer present today
General Observations
Apostles were able to pass on the gifts because they were apostles.
The purpose of the miraculous gifts from 1 Corinthians 14:20-22:
To get non-believers to believe (tongues were only to be used to bring non-believers to faith).
This is the Holy Spirit,
when he receives the spirit of truth.
@@matasaina2011 The Holy Spirit very seldom impacts my feelings, but He does prompt me to fear God, to be thankful and to praise.

To sin against God is a conscious act of the will. It's part of what makes it so outrageous.

Nicki Bulicek That’s God’s presence; the Holy Spirit. That’s has been also my experience!
The Spirit is always with the believer, He is the one who enables us to say Jesus is Lord.
One morning I got up reborn and with a new life force and a view of myself and the world around me. The Holy Spirit descended on me after 1 week of sincere search for Jesus Christ, after years of madness with new age deception. 🙌🙏

Thank you Pastor John.
Amazing teaching. Amen Pastor
Great answer to such a complex question.
Thanks for the teaching. I was bothered with this question for a long time.
Thankyou Pastor John
I am come from pentecostal denomination and I have gone through treasuring experience (which I don't want to forget in my life long because whenever I have a doubt or unsolved question I can look back to those experience) in so called pentecostal meeting.
@@tomk4984 thankyou brother for your suggestion
because its not a denomination within actual christianity lol
(Jeremiah 31:31-34)
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Thank you Jesus for the power of the Holy ghost. A real transformation
Based on Mark 1:8, and Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-17,
the most important thing about the word "baptism" in the New Testament
has nothing to do with water. This fact is confirmed by Romans 8:9, and
1 Corinthians 3:16, and Ephesians 1:13.
In John 3 Christ revealed that nobody enters the kingdom of God
without being "born-again" of the Spirit of God. The only baptism that
is important for salvation cannot be performed by a man. It comes upon
hearing, and believing, and is performed by Christ.
Noah and his were saved by water. So baptism now doth also save us. Its for the Remission of sins.

Amen.
How many baptisms are there? By AD62, the apostle Paul writes to the Ephesians telling them (and us) that there is "one".
water, fire and Holy Spirit
Matthew 3:11 talks about water baptism by John and the Holy Spirit and Fire by Christ
@@Lindabinda777 Eph:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, ONE baptism.
@@ChristisSaviour Paul fell the need to empathize the one baptism in Ephisian written aroud 60 to 62 AD because people were confusing the 3 baptism mentioned in Acts.
1.John's baptism - Passed when the new covenant began. (Acts 19:1-5)
2.The Baptism with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2 and Acts 10) - is no longer present as it was a prophecy/promise that has been fulfilled. It was never a general command for all Christians.
3.Baptism with water in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus commanded this baptism. (Matthew 28:18-20)
This baptism is recorded all the way through the book of Acts and the Epistles.
In Eph 5:18Paul seems to follow the Lukan meaning: “Do not get drunk on wine…, Instead go on [repeatedly in Gk construction] being filled with the Spirit…”
We have to be careful on my trusting or looking to feelings and such, I literally had a charismatic tell me that experience triumphs scripture……..
Quote from Billy Graham’s book on the Holy Spirit:-
“I simply cannot find any biblical reason for saying that tongues is a gift God desires to give all believers.

Then we will have new ministers--the same old ministers renewed with power; filled with the Holy Spirit."
Dwight L. Moody, in his book "Secret Power", published in 1881
We must confess and repent, turn toward God, and invite the Holy Spirit into us, daily as John Piper suggests.
Great sharing!!! I just started listening to DL Moody's The Overcoming Life via Aneko Press Christian audio books. Amazing that he was so heavily criticized as not being an outstanding orator or worthwhile theologian by "certain standards." So far, I beg to differ...

Acts 19:6 KJVS

Romans 8:13-17 KJVS
[13] For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

One way to see the difference between being baptized into the body of Christ and being baptized with the Spirit by Jesus. In one case the Spirit is the baptizer and in the other case Jesus is the baptizer.
1 Corinthians 12:13
[13]For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
This is a baptism BY the Spirit into the body of Christ.
Acts 1:5
[5]For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
This is a baptism WITH or OF the Holy Spirit which is done by Jesus Christ.
Matthew 3:11
[11]I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
As you can see these are 2 separate experiences. They can and should happen together when we preach the true Gopel as Peter preached in Acts 2
Acts 2:38
[38]Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Hope this helps clarify things 😊
Be blessed all 🙌
I agree they are two different experiences.
I also agree with you. We need more discussion and teaching on these matters because they are and will be life for the believer 🙌

@@seanvann1747 absolutely! God bless brother. 😊
Jesus clearly taught the disciples In John 14 that they won't receive the Holy Ghost until Jesus leaves them as they were not yet born again.
John I don’t often disagree with your exegesis but we are only baptised with the Holy Spirit once at conversion, however we ought to be filled with the Spirit and this may be our privilege
as we submit to the Lordship of Christ
It simply means that you are baptized into the body of christ. Simple. But so many people make it hard
Is eating breakfast a right way to experience the holy spirit? Doing you taxes? Masturbating?
The Holy Spirit had not yet been sent. I always thought the ‘secondary baptism of the Holy Spirit’ was for those who had been converted prior to Him being sent. Does the bible speak of baptism of the Holy Spirit occurring for those who were converted after His arrival (Pentecost)?
yep, read the book of acts,
Hi! Taking away from Acts, Ephisian, and 1 Peter
Stay Blessed!
tongues does nothing
totally useless
The Spirit spoken of in the Bible convicts us of sin and testifies to the veracity of Scripture
Paul said not all people are given the gift of tongues. It is the Holy Spirit who determines what gifts to give to believers. I know of many godly people who don’t speak in tongues but whose lives are being lived for God. Tongues is not the evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Read Peter 2:38 Repent , Be Baptized Everyone In The Name of Jesus Christ, The Gift of Holy Spirit Shall Come Upon You. A New Man . Amen 🙏🏽
Amen
"One Lord, one faith, and one baptism."
do you think there's a difference between the gift of tongues and the sign of tongues?
Halleluyah 🇮🇳🌏🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate pipers honesty and boldness in approaching every issue which most pastors won’t touch! But I’m sorely disappointed in this episode, he never actually addresses wether someone being laid out cold passed out, is empowering that person to then evangelize! I agree with his interpretation of the text but how that’s manifested he didn’t dare address! And that was the actual question! Of it makes a Christian uncomfortable then please point out proof afterwards how it was the work of the Holy Spirit
Great explanation about the subject of discourse - re baptism of the HS
Please pray for me to quit smoking! 🙏🔥🙏
Brother, see it as this. You're ruining the vessle that God gave you. You should take care of the body you've been given. 1 Cor 6:19-20 Gods bless and stay strong ♥️
Pray for more of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of truth with lead you into al truth. Where in the bible does it say to pray for fresh baptisms ?
Good question, good answer. 🙏❤️🙏
Good stuff.
I need a fresh baptism.
My understanding;
baptism of the holy spirit and being filled with the holy spirit are not the same thing.
