Whenever The Spirit speaks through me, I'm usually humbled. People listen. Afterwards people will tell me that they felt the power of The Spirit speaking thru me. Praise Our Father for such beautiful gifts that glorify Him!

As a believer in a church that believes in the continuation of the gifts of the Spirit, I appreciate this message. God has blessed me with the gift of speaking in tongues, although it happens usually only during special times when I am seeking Him, or He pours it out on me in His mercy. Notice how Piper doesn't criticize the Pentecostal movement as some reformed teachers have. What a blessing John Piper is to the church today!

My friends recently become Reformed after watching John mcarther and now they claim that im possessed because they have seen and experienced the supernatural but because they don't believe God does that they have stopped being my mates as they think im possessed. They ain't judging by fruits, or works but by the last miracle.

Love your neighbour as yourself, that's all you can do. Pray for yourself and your friends, grace and mercy is all we can pray and ask for. Your friends could possibly being seeing that your beliefs don’t line up with doctrine and are calling you out for it so that you might understand the truth about this matter. Now how they go about doing it is another thing. It should be done with love.

AMEN! PRAISE BE TO GOD, THE HOLY TRINITY!
One day, out of the blue, I understood completely how much God loves and cherishes me as I am. So I invited him to fill my heart with His Love and Heavenly Peace overflowing.
I felt his love surround me like a warm comforting blanket. I no longer worry about what anyone thinks of me. Whether they like me or not. Care about me or not. Knowing Jesus loves me by dying on the cross to save me from hell is more than enough for me!
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful (humbled and his disciples of peace). Colossians 3:15 NIV
My heart is filled with so much of his heavenly peace that it overflows with heavenly love. I feel so loved and cherished. NO ONE AND NOTHING CAN EVER HURT ME AGAIN! Now, I am at peace with everything and everyone in my life. I can even forgive and bless my enemies! If you haven't already, I encourage you to invite him! He is knocking at the door of your heart waiting for you to open it so he can embrace you with Heavenly Love! JESUS SAID keep your mind on him and he will keep you in perfect heavenly peace. NO ONE AND NOTHING WILL HARM YOU WHEN HE'S IN YOUR HEART.🤗😌🙏

After about 10 years later and married with children I was drawn to reading my bible more and egan to have doubts about mormon teaching. I went to hear an ex mormon preacher from Utah, Einar Anderson in a local Methodist church. He pointed out several scriptures and explained things to me. One evening as I was praying on my knees I was reading where Paul asked the believers had They received the Holy Spirit since They believe, They answered No, so he laid hands on them and the received the Holy Spirit. As I was reading this the power of God came down on me as I lay on the floor and I was filled with what I'd describe as being embalmed in an orgasam of shall

My church but such an emphasis on solely the experience (Speak in Tongues) that I hindered myself from speaking in tongues and thought I wasn’t saved without it. Seeing people run, faint, etc terrified me. I did eventually speak in tongues without the fainting, running etc. It’s easy for us to think our “filling” will be similar to others, but I’m a living witness that you can experince a different type of filling.

Too many Christians and deceived unbelievers seek these because Jesus is not enough for the carnal mindset. The best and most clear supernatural effect of the Holy spirit is a life of holiness and righteousness. (not that it is necessarily perfect)

The Holy Spirit is a title, given to a person that receives the spirit of truth.

I tell you the truth, it is good for you that I go away, cause if i do not go, he will not come, but if I do go, I will send him to you.

If we don’t end up loving people more, preaching the gospel more, repenting, and etc.. then we need to gain a better understanding of what it means to be filled with the spirit.

As long as Christianity lasts, this sort of question will always follow especially among Christendom. Pastor John is compassionately explaining systematically of (for example) Jesus' definition, Luke's definition and and Paul's of Spirit's baptism. And they all agree with different terminology. For me, I never worry about being baptized with the Holy Spirit since it's the same with being born again. I agree with Pastor that Holy Spirit's baptism is an act by which the Holy Spirit unites believers with Christ. This union with Christ occurs at the moment of being born again because regeneration cannot happen without the work of the Holy Spirit in uniting us with our Lord Jesus Christ. Honestly, I don't agree with those who say Spirit's baptism is necessary after being born again because I couldn't relate this teaching with Biblical teaching but this doesn't mean I don't agree with the teaching about the need of Spirit's empowerment in witnessing the Gospel of Christ.

Paul differentiated between the Baptism of belief and repentance by John the Baptist and the Holy Spirit in Acts 19:2 when he came upon the new disciples of Ephesus. He asked them if they received the Holy Ghost when they believed. They were believers but didn’t even know of the Holy Spirit as they were only baptized by water. They were then baptized in Jesus name when Paul explained they should believe on him “Jesus” who came after John the Baptist so they then became Baptized in Jesus name. Then he laid his hands on them and the Holy Spirit came upon them followed by speaking in tongues and prophecy. It was obviously important to Paul to inquire of these believers of the Holy Spirit baptism and then make sure they experienced it. I still struggle with this after reading 1st Corinthians 13-14 and all that Paul dealt with in that church. They were getting carried away with the use of speaking in tongues. My church encourages this but does not strictly adhere to Paul’s instructions during church service and interpretation, prophecy, etc. I’m still praying that God will help me understand this better.

Hi! Hope this helps ^_^. Sorry for the long message.
Does the Baptism with the Holy Spirit still exist today? Ephesians 4:4-6: There is one baptism - which one? (Written about 60-62 A.D.). There are three options:
John's baptism - Passed when the new covenant began. (Acts 19:1-5)
The Baptism with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2 and Acts 10) - is no longer present as it was a prophecy/promise that has been fulfilled. It was never a general command for all Christians.
Baptism with water in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus commanded this baptism. (Matthew 28:18-20)
This baptism is recorded all the way through the book of Acts and the Epistles. In fact, Peter was present for all the baptisms: John's baptism, both accounts of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and preached water baptism in the name of Jesus in Acts 2 (33 A.D.) and in 1 Peter 3:18-21 (written around 64 A.D.), well after all the events of the book of Acts.
It had to be the one baptism of Ephesians 4:4-6 as it was the only one practiced by 60-62 A.D. when Ephesians was written.
The miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit (next lesson)
Received by the apostles' laying on of hands
      No longer present today

    • @Valeska6000
      @Valeska6000 3 года назад +1

      General Observations
Apostles were able to pass on the gifts because they were apostles. The Apostles possessed the ability to perform miracles even during the ministry of Christ (Luke 9:1). This ability to pass and perform the gifts was not given at Pentecost.
1 Corinthians 12 and 14 are not the directives on how to receive tongues (the church there had already received them), but rather the correctives on how to use them because everyone was speaking at the same time and misusing the tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:28-30 shows that tongues as a gift were not given to everyone in the church. Thus the concept of a "Pentecostal church" (every member speaking in tongues) is contrary to Scripture.
1 Corinthians 13:8-10: "Perfection" here could not mean the coming of Christ because it is in the neuter gender in Greek, not the masculine gender. When perfection comes probably refers to the canonization of the Bible some time after the first century. At that time, all the miraculous gifts would be gone because all the apostles and those to whom they passed the gifts would have died.
The purpose of the miraculous gifts from 1 Corinthians 14:20-22:
To get non-believers to believe (tongues were only to be used to bring non-believers to faith).
To edify the Christians and strengthen their faith.
Now the Bible fulfills these needs - thus the church today does not need apostles or miraculous gifts.
2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 shows that there can be miracles by Satan today. Satan's purpose is to deceive people about the truth, so they will not be saved.
Speaking in "tongues" is common in many religions (Mormon, Catholic, Islam, etc.), because religion gets dried and staid. These are also called "ecstatic utterances" - non-understandable sounds and fragments of speech.
A person can be filled with the Spirit without speaking in tongues (Ephesians 5:18-20).
Jesus never spoke in tongues and he was accorded the full-measure of the Spirit (John 3:34-36).

I am come from pentecostal denomination and I have gone through treasuring experience (which I don't want to forget in my life long because whenever I have a doubt or unsolved question I can look back to those experience) in so called pentecostal meeting. But same time as I am growing in word of God I find some practice of pentecostal are extreme which not even in Bible . So sometime I got confused whether to deny all the experience of pentecostalism or to embrace. Any way thankyou for helping us specially those who are from our denomination. We need more correction in our denomination. We will be glad if you could lovingly teach us biblical teaching. Love and prayer to you.

I grew up in a Pentecostal denomination as well. And I have noticed some things they teach not according to scripture. But I do very much like their emphasis on strong prayer and living in Holiness. About experiences... I don't think it's good to always try to seek experiences, for we live by faith and truth not by sight. We must submit to truth and trust the truth of God's word more than our experience. Some false teachings like Mormonism say they experience God by reading the book of Mormon (and by that they find it to be truth)but the book of Mormon contradicts God and his revealed truth in the Bible.
But also experiences are good as I have felt great joy, love, and repentance at times in deep prayer and Bible study. As long as that experience drives you closer to his written word and knowing Christ they're good.
I suggest you study 1 Cor 12-14. I have noticed that Pentecostals have an over emphasize on the spiritual gifts (like during prayer service everyone will speak in tongues out loud without an interpreter(1 Cor 14:26-28). The Bible doesn't teach that the gifts have ceased but we need a balanced view of them and be biblical in how we use them.

But when we walk outside of him we loose that anointing. And we know we must get back into focus. Anytime we are not emerged we are separated and must seek him and get back to him. That's how we live in his will and not our own not thru our own understanding but thru his. Will. We are then one with him in him. And that's why we need to stay focused on him all times.

I'm afraid no one falls into any sin. Please read the book of James. But each when tempted by his own desire, is led away by it, into sin.
To sin against God is a conscious act of the will. It's part of what makes it so outrageous.
Look carefully at yourself, whatever your particular sin is, recognising your guilt and inability to be holy on your own, as the rest of us.
Repenting from sin must be done consciously with a desire to turn your heart to God for salvation and for satisfaction. Or else you will return to sin.

I know that there were 2 very distinct feelings between getting baptized by water and baptism by the Spirit. Being baptized by water made me feel like I had a clean slate to start over, and being baptized by the Spirit made me feel like the walls between us were broken down and I was standing next to God. Metaphorically speaking, water baptism felt like adoption papers were signed and Spirit baptism felt like family bonding. Now, yes I did have some Christians with charismatic backgrounds lay hands on me to pray for that baptism and to pray in tongues. But nobody fell and convulsed on the ground. In fact, biblically speaking there was only one kind of event where people fell and convulsed- exorcism of demons by Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is always with you from the moment you are born again, you will sence Him, you know that He is there if the fruits of the Holy Spirit are there (joy , pace, love, kindness, patience...) . The baptism is something more...it gives you boldness to say to everyone about Jesus, you don't care anymore of what the people think about you. It gives you strength to surpass, endure everything, even torture. Think like that: the first, is His presence in a small quantity, the second (the baptism) is a total fullness.

Many Christians like Billy Graham, Hudson Taylor and John Sung did not have specific baptism of Holy Spirit moments in their lives except the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at the moment of conversion. They were filled by the Holy Spirit to evangelise and many people were saved. My view is keep confessing our sins the moment we are aware of them and the Holy Spirit will be able to work through us powerfully.

If a person speaks in "tongues" which is not a known tongue, it is not the manifestation found in Acts chapter 2.
The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to those in the New Covenant. (Jeremiah 31:31-34)
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Based on Mark 1:8, and Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-17,
the most important thing about the word "baptism" in the New Testament
has nothing to do with water. This fact is confirmed by Romans 8:9, and
      1 Corinthians 3:16, and Ephesians 1:13.
In John 3 Christ revealed that nobody enters the kingdom of God
without being "born-again" of the Spirit of God. The only baptism that
is important for salvation cannot be performed by a man. It comes upon
hearing, and believing, and is performed by Christ.

When the Pentecostal experience came in to the other denominations decades ago it was the teaching that one required the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as a second blessing. It was the way to receive power and supernatural gifts. However, charismatics outside the Pentecostal church learned not to say that openly because they were essentially claiming to be on a higher spiritual plane. I notice nowadays that the debate between say Phil Johnson and charismatics tends only to be about the gifts such as tongues, prophecy etc. But not the second blessing teaching. At least with the Pentecostal teaching of a two stage (as it were) conversion experience the teaching is clear. Note the subtlety of Mr Piper’ s teaching in that of course we all need to be vigilant in seeking to be filled with the Spirit by obedience to the Word, but this doesn’t mean a second experience of manifestations. The inference of Mr Piper’s teaching is that a second blessing to receive power and manifestations is necessary.

With all due respect, if the day of pentecost was necessary, and the Baptism "with" the Holy Spirit was a second baptism then, that pattern does not change. There are three Baptisms. And Pastor John, if you dont believe in speaking in tongues, that's okay. But dont Blaspheme it and call it "unusual". I can give you scriptures that supports speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the Baptism "with" the Holy Spirit. The lack of power in the churches is their reliance on their power and not the power of the Holy Spirit! Stay Blessed!

Quote from Billy Graham’s book on the Holy Spirit:-
“I simply cannot find any biblical reason for saying that tongues is a gift God desires to give all believers. Some may be given the gift, while many others will not be given it. It would be wrong for someone who has not been given this gift of tongues to feel somehow they are a “Second Rate” Christian, or earnestly covet this gift if God has not seen fit to give it to them. It would be equally wrong for someone who has this gift to try to compel others to have it, or to teach that everyone must experience it.
In fact, millions of spiritually mature Christians have never spoken in tongues, and many who have spoken in tongues are not spiritually mature”

Can you guess who wrote the following? "Nine-tenths, at least, of the church members never think of speaking for Christ. If they see a man, perhaps a near relative, just going right down to ruin, going rapidly, they never think of speaking to him about his sinful course and of seeking to win him to Christ. Now certainly there must be something wrong. And yet when you talk with them you find they have faith, and you can not say they are not children of God; but they have not the power, they have not the liberty, they have not the love that real disciples of Christ should have. A great many people are thinking that we need new measures, that we need new churches, that we need new organs, and that we need new choirs, and all these new things. That is not what the Church of God needs today. It is the old power that the Apostles had; that is what we want, if we have that in our churches, there will be new life. Then we will have new ministers--the same old ministers renewed with power; filled with the Holy Spirit."
Dwight L. Moody, in his book "Secret Power", published in 1881
We must confess and repent, turn toward God, and invite the Holy Spirit into us, daily as John Piper suggests.

Baptism of Holy Spirit is different experience than being born again.
That happens after you have been born again.
Baptism of the Holy Spirit is enpowerment, receiving power, to serve God and be a witness live holy God honoring life by the power of Holy Spirit.
Usually marked by speaking in tongues, if the person has fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control ) visible in his life. If not then speaking in tongues doesn't mean anything in this person's life without the fruit of Spirit.
Jesus didn't say by their gifts you shall know them, but by their fruits.
I am pentacostal, but sometimes people who speak in tongues don't have such visible fruit of Spirit in their life as some who don't.

Stephen Hunt No, you don't have to speak in tongues if you receive the Holy Spirit. God gives different spiritual gifts to different believers so that we will be able to bless and edify one another. As Paul explained to the Corinthians:
1 Corinthians 12:4, "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills."
The Spirit of God decides what gifts He will give to each believer according to His own will and purpose. The gift of tongues is listed here right alongside the other gifts as something that one believer has and another does not. Paul goes on to explain that it is God's purpose that we all have different gifts so that we need one another and function together like the many members of one body. He says, for example:
1 Corinthians 12:17-21, "If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. If they were all one member, where would the body be? But now there are many members, but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you'; or again the head to the feet, 'I have no need of you.'"
In this context, Paul plainly says:
1 Corinthians 12:30, "All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they?"
It is clear that many Christians have the Spirit and have been given gifts by the Spirit, but God has chosen not to give them the gift of tongues. In fact, Paul's logic here seems to assume that the majority of believers did not have the gift of tongues, just as the majority of the body could not be eyes, hands, or knees. Any Spiritual gift is only given to some believers for the sake of edifying all and bringing us together in local church communities.

Stephen Hunt I’m not going to argue this with you. My whole point is that people don’t need to speak in tongues to be saved. I truly believe that. Also, your being about religion now “non-pentecostal” people?? So do us non-Pentecost’s need to dance with snakes too? How do you know for certain each person speaking in tongues is not faking receiving the Holy Ghost? What are tongues even? Is it a language you don’t usually speak i.e French, Spanish, Chinese or is it sounds that make up a fake language? I guess if YHWH wants to fill me with the ruach hakodesh..I will know when that day happens.

    My understanding;
baptism of the holy spirit and being filled with the holy spirit are not the same thing.
Baptism, is the receiving of the holy spirit....or being born of the spirit. It's a second birth. Spiritual birth. It is being added to the body of Christ (to the church).
Only someone baptized with the holy spirit can be filled with the holy spirit.
Which is an empowerment for a specific service.

But then their is speaking in a heavenly language that is supposed to be interpreted by another person. Ive heard a few people I know very well, speak in tounges. They spoke a heavenly language that a man in the crowd interpreted. But the women i heard do this spoke a beautifully fluent language like ive never heard. Experience is not a valid test of truth. Truth will most certainly inform ones emotions (plenty of that in Psalms). The Holy Spirit convicts, informs, encourages, exalts Christ etc. through the Word of God. That in turn will cause us to feel: convicted, assured, wanting to praise God etc. We all need to feel, but it comes by the Word. Just feeling chills or "electricity" on its own is not the Holy Spirit. At best it is self-suggestion, at worst it can be demonic. I want you to experience God in all his fullness and with your heart and mind overflowing with emotion towards him, but it only comes through knowing him as he is revealed in scripture. Keep on keeping on, brother.

Hi! Taking away from Acts, Ephisian, and 1 Peter
If you want more information I can refer you to more study sources or my church does bible studies in depth on that.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit like described in Acts is real, separate from being born of the Spirit, and has never ceased. Anyone who has been baptized in the Spirit knows without a doubt they have because it is overwhelming experience where the Spirit rushes upon you and fills you entire spirit and soul and immediately changes your heart. I experienced it and didn’t know anything about it and wasn’t in a church that even talked about it. I was filled with the holiness and love of Christ and power to proclaim the gospel which I never did before. All my desires and affections and thinking completely changed and wanted Christ to control every part of my life. It was a desperate experience for me but happened only a few months after my conversion. My mind was illuminated and enlightened immediately when it happened. I knew nothing about it but knew what it was immediately because the whole experience matched up with scripture. I could feel the Spirit in me daily and expedited daily overwhelming joy, love, peace, patience, hope, self control, and a love for God’s word that I never had before.

John the Baptist promised that Jesus would baptize"with" the Holy Spirit. This correct nomenclature is in concert with the scriptures.

I understand that they are already saved/converted before Pentecost. Can anyone confirm if my thoughts are correct? (P.S. -> I'm not asking if you think Mr. Piper is right or not. There is some crazy stuff people do and say it is the Holy Spirit. But don't let that keep you from the truth. Acts teaches us that when we receive the Holy Spirit we will speak in tongues. 1 Corinthians teaches us how the Holy Spirit is to be expressed in the Church. The Corinth Church were over enthusiastic with tongues. We are also instructed to pray in tongues and in our own normal language. To pray in the Spirit is to pray in tongues. It is no more complicated than that but very powerful. In church, Paul tells us for two or three to speak out in tongues with interpretation each time, the two or three prophesies. I only know of one church that does that.

I think Acts 2 is it’s own one time event because the spirit had not been sent by Yeshua until that release of the spirit on that day. Since Yeshua took his glorified position in heaven at the right hand of the Father as our high priest, he then sent the holy spirit to empower them to be witnesses to the truth and the gospel. To reiterate, Yeshua in his position in the heavens, sends the spirit to be with and empower the believing community of saints. Paul, in 1 Cor is post Acts 2, so the salvific baptism in the Holy Spirit, is also an outpouring of power since the spirit had already been poured out at the Acts 2 event. Also we MUST remember it was Shavuot, why? That was the beginning of the covenant YHWH made with Israel on Sinai! This outpouring WAS the inauguration of the new covenant when in a new way the apostles receive the conditions of the covenant not thundered from a mountain top, and written on stone, BUT instead the law was written on our hearts! That certainly happened in Acts 2!

There are only two occurrences of HS Baptism in the NT. First on the apostles on the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:4-5; 2:1-3). Then not again until the household of Cornelius (Acts 10-11).
We receive the gift of the Holy Spirit after we are baptized for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38).
So what did John mean when he said Jesus will baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. John was speaking to two groups of people, saved and unsaved.
Joel propecised the HS would fall upon all flesh (Joel 2), since it is obvious the HS did not fall upon every single flesh in the NT, we need to determine by what Joel meant by "all" flesh.
When the Holy Spirit fell upon the apostles, they represented the Jewish nation. When the Holy Spirit fell upon the household of Cornelius, they represented the Gentile nation, fulfilling Joel's prophecy "all flesh."
When the Holy Spirit fell upon the apostles, they received authoratative gifts, such as laying on of hands which no one else could do, see Acts 8 when Simon the Sorcerer acknowledges this fact.
When the Holy Spirit fell upon the Gentiles, they spoke in tongues, temporarily, for it was to prove to the Jews that God had granted repentance to the gentile nation (10-11).
In the ten year gap between the apostles and the household of Cornelius, every Jew converted to Christ received the gift of the Holy Spirit, not the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Take a look at Acts 8 when Luke records the "HS had fallen upon none of them...". Reason being God had not yet granted repentance to the gentile nation at this point, which did not occur until Cornelius.
They were baptized for forgiveness of their sins, the apostles prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit, which God granted, but this was not a baptism of the Holy Spirit, neither did they speak in tongues.
In the NT only the apostles and the household of Cornelius immediately spoke in tongues when they were baptized with the Holy Spirit. As for every one else, it was only when an apostle laid his hands on them.
Tongues ceased when the NT was completed, and with the death of the apostles (1Cor.13:8-10), its purpose was to comfirm the Word (Mk.16:20).
All this confusion of Holy Spirit Baptism and speaking in tongues, and it all ended in the 1st century.
Search it for yourself, you will not find one verse of anyone else being baptized with the Holy Spirit. Receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, YES! But not the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

  • @Bobbychildree

The Holy Spirit baptizes believers into the body of Christ. Jesus baptizes believers into the Holy Spirit. Baptism means full immersion, not a hit or miss sprinkling: that’s only for gaining a clear conscience. The very least spiritual gift is also the only one that personally builds up spiritually the one who uses that least of gifts, which is speaking in tongues in one’s own personal prayer life. If you are “too good” to accept the least of all the spiritual gifts, don’t expect God to give you the better ones. Scripture says to desire the better gifts, but if you cannot handle being ministered to by the Holy Spirit through the gift of tongues, you certainly cannot handle healings, miracles, government nor the others.

  • @drclbl2929

Baptism carries the idea of initiation into a new order of things or experience.
So it is the first time experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Out of the fullness of the heart a man speaks. Thus the Baptism of the HS is evidenced by the outflow of tongues, the HS-given language. This is the same kind of manifestation as in the event of the Tower of Babel in the creation of 70 new people groups. Pentecost can thus be viewed also as the event of the first appearing of a new people, the heavenly race. Also, the collective outburst of loud tongues speaking about the mighty works (Acts 2:11) is in fact a proclamation of the entry of the new people (the Church/nation 1 Pe 2:5-9). The collective act as a when is the symbolic announcement of the invasion if the Lord's people upon the kingdom of Satan. This is applicable to individual's experience of the baptism of the HS as well.

Interesting reply but the scripture said like as of fire. Sir this is not personal read the holy scriptures. Forget what you’ve been taught and told.
Acts 10 reads as Peter yet spake these words the Holy Ghost fell on the Gentiles and they were baptized with the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues.
Acts 19 the Apostle Paul laid his hands on them and they were baptized with the Holy Ghost and began to speak In tongues.
The Holy Ghost makes preachers not schools. They marveled that they (the disciples) were ignorant and unlearned men but they had been with Jesus. The devil fights this baptism because it’s from the Most High and equips a saint with power from on High.

In this video, pastor John is going all over the place instead of answering the question. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is simply an impartation of the filling of the third person of Trinity given by Jesus Christ. He is the baptizer. The initial evidence that you have been baptized of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues or other languages, heavenly prayer languages. That is what the baptism of the Holy Spirit is. You as a believer receives power from the third person of the Trinity. This is a different baptism from being baptized in water. Baptism in water is a public confession of you accepting Jesus Christ. Pastor John is going everywhere instead of answering the question. Pastor John, no disrespect, but, learn to get to the point.

Christopher Phillips, You Are 100 % CORRECT !! It Blows my mind to see so many People who have a lot of knowledge in the Scriptures, but when it comes to Speaking in Tongs , They Completely "Drop the Ball " The reason being- "THEY Don't have this Experience! They are Mis leading people ! EVERYONE in the Bible who received the Baptism in The Holy Ghost ALL Spoke in Tongs as the Spirit Gave them Utterance !
