Truly I teared up a bit about this aspect of the video. My grandma used to be a seamstress, but the fast fashion boom in the 80s killed her work. If the US wasn't so obsessed with low quality and high volume clothing (et al) that exploits people in other countries, we might see more businesses like the clothing shops in this video, making gorgeous bespoke pieces that people feel amazing in.

Just when I thought German goths were intense, Mexico is like, "Hold my cerveza." Those bars, clubs, and cafes are intense... especially the bar/cafe with all the skulls embedded in the walls! That Aztec/Mayan/Native Mexican art looks right at home there. It's gorgeous. Not to mention the art!! What talented people to be able to freehand album art, band logos and gorgeous murals. It's all so beautiful. I never knew my life was missing a Goth Trip to Mexico City. . .

Germany's goth scene seems super intimidating to me lol. After this video though I'd love to visit Mexico City and just chat with some of the designers about the local fashion industry...in my horrible broken Spanish. Maybe it's from working for a Guatemalan business* for several years, but Latin America just seems so friendly and welcoming.
*mind you, this was not a goth business and there were still plenty of lovely hand painted skulls ❤

This is one of the main reasons of why I love living in Mexico City. And you should come last days of October - first days of November. Even when nowadays people started to relate Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) to painting their faces like skulls (which is not mexican at all), the streets are full with people selling sweets, toys and decoration skulls, pumpkings and witchy things. Also, from recent years (mostly since that Bond movie) we have different parades related to Day of the Death (this year there's like 5 or 6 different parades).
I love Bizarro cafe and El Chopo! Something about El Chopo is that in the beginning it was all about music, now is mostly about shirts and clothes but If you go to the last part there is a lot of guy selling or trading CD's, movies, concerts and LP's. I love going there to buy some gothic-metal-rock CD's.

Clauzzen is a legend in Mexico's goth culture. She's been around broadcasting her show for decades and promoting local clubs and shows. I'm so happy you included El Scary in your video. It's a must for every tourist who's into gothic stuff.

THANK YOU for posting this video!! The scene in CDMX is soo intense! I go three to four times a year, and recently started making sure to stop by El Real Under whenever I'm in town (you weren't joking about the fact it is hot af in there). I am tooottalllly going to check out algunos de los talleres de los darks (goth ateliers) the next time I'm down there. I am blown away they have the designers and costureras right there! THAT is part of the magic of Mexico. *swoon* There are also electro/industrial events scattered throughout town on any given weekend, but I rely on friends from that scene to recommend where to go.

Man, you did go to el Chopo y no te vi :(
I've always wanted something from Horror Boutique but sadly I can't afford it... also you were super close to Kimera Bazar that has medieval/dark stuff, it is in the oposite side of Horror Boutique, but on the first floor. I also recommend Old Skull Boutique this one is on Medellin street (Roma Norte)... and finally there are a couple of dark themed stores in Plaza San Cosme near Metro Revolución.

My late wife would have loved to visit these places, but sadly I only discovered this channel in 2019 (over two years since she died in Feb 2017) she like me was into Goth & Dark Wave (amongst a whole other bunch of genres) .
Her mom is from the D.F. and her dad was from L.A. (via Mexico)
Up until her death we went to the local Las Vegas Dias del los Muertos celebrations starting in the late 1990's
