I think what TWS1956 is trying to say that “Bonnie Bates’” presentation and meeting was very similar to what Amway did at their meetings. When I was in college in the 1980s, I was involved with Amway for several months, of course having been invited by a friend! Quite a few details on this episode were different than an Amway meeting, but the general principle of a high energy presentation with people giving speeches, etc. yes, that’s almost exactly what I experienced in those Amway meetings All those years ago. That was in the USA by the way.

In the case of Mrs. Bates, the addition of the lottery charge resulted in a $500 fine plus six months of probation. I'm sure that really, really slowed her down.
@@1969atiq Well certainly not the $500 fine. While $500 went a lot farther in those days, it would still be pocket change for Bonnie Bate. Would the six months probation put a crimp in her business? A little bit, but I don't think enough to persuade her to go into a different line of work.
