CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Mother (Anjelica Huston) gets defensive when her sons confront her about leaving them and not making it to their dad's funeral.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited stars Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, and Adrien Brody as three brothers who, at the insistence of the oldest, take a train ride through India together in order to strengthen their bond. Even though the vacation goes wrong in ways they do not anticipate, the strangeness of their setting and some revealing honesty produces some surprising changes between them all.

As regal and statuesque as Anjelica is she’s always been so soft spoken that its almost surprising. She has a sweet and soothing voice and such an even tenor.
Anjelica Huston makes every film better.
awww they're missing the best part
When I first saw this I was honestly terrified that she was inviting them to have a family orgy. Thank God it was obviously something very different.
Same lol
You guys's minds are ruined
@@pegleg2959 well...after just seeing the clip of The Grifters where she kisses her son (John Cusack) as a lover trying to get the briefcase of money, maybe you might understand why...
She's gotten better looking.
Love This part! And how I understand it as a father I feel this exact same way towards my kids. You’ve grown up it’s time for you to grow up find yourself and be men! I am not to coddle you anymore!
@@sunflowersar it is exactly what she meant. Her kids were not grown up they were not mature they were filled with drama and hurt feelings from the past she was saying it’s time to drop all the baggage and start new and fresh and grow up and deal with it I understood it perfectly.
Good parents always support their legacy. I’m so sorry for your kids with their unloving parent. This will hurt them. I hope they get a good therapist.
I have never seen someone miss the point harder
@@Rob-lw8to Wes Anderson even said himself anyone can take the movie their own way it's your own interpretation. Some people think that their mother and father did not give them much attention so they were always left longing for more that's one take that's not what I get out of it at all. Basically they were never close as kids because they were self-centered and spoiled in the mom and dad were not going to cuddle them anymore.
@@STAND-ALONE it’s very clear that the conversation demonstrates an avoidant communication style. If it were about coddling, why does that need to be read into? Kinda seems like projection.
so who can explain her behavior
Raikhan Gabdrashova she’s enlightened and fulfilling her destiny ...transcended family :)
She's a very selfish person and her kids got closure in knowing not in learning that she's never going to change, but that they knew this all along and if they want to be happy in life, they've got to rely on themselves as brothers, not her, which is really what they ultimately were seeking all along - Re-uniting with each other.
She acts like she's finding herself but in reality she's running away from a life she created that she got bored of. She said she couldn't be with her son's because she felt that she had to stay in this community in India, her sons go to that community and suddenly she feels she has to leave. It's about them learning to confide in each other as brothers instead of depending on the baggage of their parents (which the last scene is a literal symbol of)
@@echo-channel77 beautiful summation of the movie
She's an awful human being. Simple as that.
