As kid I got into electronic music with the New Wave genre, then became a break dancer, I first got into Electro and Hip Hop in the mid 80's and marvelled and collected Hip Hop music. The electronic side, by the likes of Egyptian Lover, World Class Wrecking Crew, Newcleus, etc. I then went on to also DJ and went from DJing soul and Jazz Funk to House and Rave in the late 80's. After decades of being a DJ and collecting music, I have finally decided to make my own music and ordered and MPC One Plus. This was a fantastic and interesting video to watch and tips I will take onboard, thanks. @@TheCratesMotel appreciate the reply, I really am stuck between MPC Live II or the maschine+ I watched 8+ hours of reviews yesterday. What would you say is best for me if I want to make house music where I can play live and it's easy to edit and take a kick or chord out for example live like the DJs 1000 pioneer standalone sampler, the workflow that's easy to use and access and not too complicated to look at. I want something that helps with chord progressions that automatically tell me what's in key and the right scale. I had the Aki midi keyboard and I found it hard to link up channels and buttons etc from that the MPC software to pads etc and it scared me away from using it... you'd help me massively here thank you!
@@jaxhulme Hey mate, honestly I cannot speak for Maschine. I haven't used it since version 1 around 2012, so I have no idea how things are with it now. I can speak for the MPC though and I think it would be able to do anything you would want to do with it in standalone, especially for House music. Using Mutes etc is perfect fo live sets. It has the ability to work out keys etc and can help with chord progressions. I would imagine Maschine can do all of this as well, so I would think it probably mostly has to do with which one you prefer in terms of workflow and form factor. As I said, I haven't used Maschine in years, so it would be unfair for me to compare them and I am not the kind of person who compares something unless I have used it extensively. From a personal perspective, I have used the MPC for 35 years now and I love it, especially for House.
Do you build your whole production on the MPC or do you send it to a DAW once you’ve built the beat ? If so do you send the stems or what ? Thanks mate, this is a class video
To be honest, it depends. Sometimes I’ll do everything in the MPC, with the arrangement and then track out to my DAW. I might do a little mixing in the MPC, again it depends, but generally I will mix in my DAW. Most of the time I will write my drums in the MPC and everything else in my DAW. I have my MPC connected via MIDI to sync with my DAW but not in controller mode. It’s in standalone but synced to start and stop with my DAW. I only put it in controller mode to track out the multis. I sketch a lot in the MPC as well just to get myself away from a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Change the scenery, if you get what I mean. It helps my creativity.
Hey buddy, there is. Its ‘in the style of” but not identical. If you check my video on “Which EQ” in the MPC I go into more detail. Thank you for watching.
