This is a great slice-of-life contrast with the city scenes, really like this "little" neighborhood. Reminds me of a place I've gone skiing and brings back some fond memories.
I'm surprised at all the ladders everywhere, don't really see that around here, I'm guessing to get up and shovel off snow

Exactly, i waited a long time to be able to create this scene that would represent the "normal" way of living in the Finnish winter, relaxed, serene, peaceful.
I have at least one other interesting neighborhood i seek to film this winter, hopefully :)
As for the ladders, there is a law in place that states that if the window is more than 3,5 meters (12feet) from the ground, then the ladders are needed.

Well the winter has well and truly kicked in over there in Finland, I'm in the UK at the moment and they're forecasting a 50/50 chance of snow next week. Probably won't happen though and if it does it doesn't usually settle. If we got this amount of snow it would likely shut down the country for a day or two! We're just not use to it over here. The neighbourhood looks really interesting and I appreciate the details you added about the history - I had no idea the concept was loosely connected with some of our garden cities! Happy independence day for yesterday!!

      Thank you Matt !
Yesterday, today and tomorrow it snows non-stop and another 10 - 15 cm of snow will be added.
I understand that situation, Belgium is a huge disaster with only 1 cm of snow, at home it looks beautiful, but once you have to travel, good luck... :P
