I love watching this because all I see are people way better than me on these trails. It’s great to watch someone get more and more confident and learn how to mountain bike.
Good job dude. Keep it up and repetition is key to progressing. Get comfortable with the trails there. Yucca, Barham ridge going the other way and cactus are great trails for beginners/intermediate
hallo, very good video best of luck for the new year good luck with the riding everyone goes through a little height scare when biking in the mountains i know i almost passed out the first time i rode on a ledge with a drop off 😂😂
Man... I just hate when I psyche myself out when the drops aren't even all that crazy or anything 😖 Appreciate the comment though, and happy new year to you too!! :)
I've ridden here hundreds of times because I live next to it and the second you said you had trouble going down Grasshopper when you were about to go down Hawk I knew things were gonna go wrong. Great job though you just need to trust the bike.
Props to you for staying within your limits. It's always better to walk a section and be able to ride again the next day. Also - riding those trails on a hardtail is no joke. I ride at Santiago Oaks a lot and I'm not sure I'd want to do a day there on a hardtail. Full suspension makes those downhills a lot easier.
A-ha, is it because I'm on a hardtail that it's taking longer for me to get comfortable with the bumpy/rock garden sections going downhill? And yeah, at the end of the day I want to ride again the next day like you said, so there's no point in risking crashing hard and breaking a limb or something. Really appreciate your input, friend :) Happy new year!
@@leejpyo9680for me at least the only thing a full suspension does is make it less bumpy for your legs but it depends on what bike you have because I have a hard tail and full suspension and Im just as comfortable on my hard tail as my full suspension.
I would also suggest going down cactus. It’s the same level as yucca but it’s just as fun if not funner. It’s by the top of chutes on barham ridge and it’s my favorite trail at oaks because of the fun burms
Yes sir! Someone else on here also commented that Cactus is great for beginners, but I didn’t realize that it’s right by chutes 😮 Appreciate the comment man!
I highly recommend Trailforks if you’re not familiar with the trails system . Also try blue trails like Yucca, Cactus, Coachwhip. I have no problem with Grasshopper but Hawk beats my ass twice on the waterfall section. Also try other places like Fullerton Loop/Chino hills. They’re much more beginner friendly than Oaks.
Yup, just recently downloaded that Trailforks app thanks to somebody on the trails from before, and it came in sooo handy! And yeah dude, I thought Grasshopper looked scary but after seeing Hawk that time, I knew I had LOADS to work on in terms of biking skills if I wanted to even attempt that 😂

Awesome job man! It might be a beginner trail, but it's still super fun to hit.

Barham ridge the other way and cactus! Noted, friend. Thanks for the heads up, and happy new year!! :)

Trust the bike. Gotcha. I just need to go for it one day when I see another similar drop, maybe not quite as steep😅
