Today I wake up at 4:30 am to get a jog in. They say that waking up at 4 in the morning builds discipline and that successful people do this regularly for increased productivity, but for me it's really just to feel good about myself. Got 5 miles in this morning at a 9:33 pace, which I don't think is too bad all things considered.

After a long couple of months starting out as a new-grad nurse, I finally found the time to relax and find my zen again out in the mountains. Today I went took the Mill D North Fork - Desolation trail, which measures 7.8 miles in length out and back with 1,978 feet of elevation, in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

On my last day here in Orange County, California, before I head back to Utah to finish up with nursing school, I thought I'd head back to Santiago Oaks Regional Park and hit some more trails. Forgot to bring my balls to this hiking trip apparently. I forgot how elevated I would be from the very start of this particular trail and that I would not have signal that I could use to navigate my way in case I lost the pathway, so I decided not to take my chances. Today I go on a smaller 4.8 miler with 1,515 ft of elevation gain according to the AllTrails app, though it did not feel like that at all. The trail is called Bells Canyon Trail, toward Lower Falls. Found some time today as I did not have class as I normally do on weekdays, so what else was I going to do but get out there again?

It's not Mount Everest, but it's 4,087 ft of elevation gain within 3.4 miles. This one was DIFFICULT, to say the least. So worth it though, as a getaway from student nurse life.

I finally found myself some time to go on a good hike and...make the mistake of not filming the scenery in 4k. Sorry about the 1080p 😓🙃 Nevertheless, this hike was a much needed break. Stay tuned for more hikes, which WILL be coming. And I WILL be filming in 4k next time, I promise. Ugh, I'm dumb.

My girlfriend and I take our dog Lucy camping in Mapleton, UT, at a site called Whiting Campground. I bought myself a Jet Boiler and used it to boil water and enjoy myself a Lasagna with Meat Sauce meal from Mountain House. The hike up to Lake Mary was only 1.3 miles long but the incline was challenging as most of it was covered in very slushy snow. My socks were pretty drenched. But it was all so worth it.
