- Geoff and Steve revisit the site where their hunting partnership began back in 1997: the Imilac pallasite strewnfield high in Chile's Atacama Desert. It is winter at 11,000 feet in the driest desert on the planet, but with new equipment and grim determination, the guys persevere through the harshest of conditions and - on the desolate plains of Vaca Muerta - make one of the most significant discoveries of their careers.
--
For thousands of years, meteorites have slammed into the Earth's surface carrying an invaluable record of the origins of our solar system. But finding meteorites on Earth, some buried over centuries by thick layers of dirt and sediment, is no easy task.
Meteorite hunters Steve Arnold and Geoff Notkin travel to some of the most remote locations around the world to explore the scientific and financial value of meteorites. Featuring treks in Chile, Sweden, Australia, the US, Mexico, and more, these meteorite men meet with top scientists, geologists, astronomers, and meteorite experts to reveal a deeper understanding of how meteorites have helped to build our solar system and shape our planet.

What do you think you're doing!!, put that sign back where you got it from.
ya no shit!!!!!!! what A CHEWIE POS
He stole it fair and square
You didn't have to steal the sign!!!
He stole it fair and square.
I love the sign too, but I strongly disagree with his decision to take it home, especially because he’s a guest in another country. Acts like that perpetuate the world’s perception of Americans as vapid consumerists “me first and fuck everyone else”.
Dude the guy is very obviously British. He says so in the video. Wtf are you talking about
@@andrewvanorden2336 Yeah, he’s a Brit visiting Chile. He shouldn’t be stealing street signs just because he thinks they would look cool in his apartment.
He stole it fair and square ..
Only a thief would remove an antique sign. Is it yours? Put it back.
It's his now. He stole it fair and square. He's probably one of 10 people that have even seen that sign. You do realize the Atacama is not a place that many people visit. Nobody cares if Jeff takes that sign.
@@willyeverdie2731 Petty theives are still theives, although you are entitled to make excuses for him as often as needed.
I like how the sign clearly marks where the imilac strewnfield is located so removing it makes it even more difficult for future meteorite hunters. Pretty lame of the guy.
I actually enjoyed this show a lot
Amazing 🎉🎉
Good job men
Dude just stole a sign and nobodies going to say anything?
rich people
@@bobedwards8896 YES KABALLLRS
He stole it fair and square
That marker probably saved people from dying in the desert. greedy prick.
Bilginiz için teşekkür ederim 😊
I want to do this! Love it!
Very cool
I have the same one, I grinded and sanded down to slick. Very nice.
Super
Cool
That is very awesome, I have 3 of the exact thing.
Is it legal to do this? The meteorite doesnt belong to Chile?
International law says must be donated 20% for reserching
The old "we only have a little bit of time" cliche. Don't writers know, we know?
And yet the artificial time constraint or fake constraint of any sort works . We are all suckers .
@@richardg8651 only if you suck
You guys rock!!
I never saw this Beavis and Butthead episode before.
That was pretty cool actually, to see someone invest 13+ years into something they enjoy and getting one of the best possible pay offs and a reason to celebrate is awesome, a real show of passion😂😁
I actually found a meteorite that is not attracted to my metal detector is their a way possible to figure out if the metal is still not in existence to earth yet?
Nickel?
I grew up next to the Williamette Oregon meteorite. I believe I found a small one that has either nickel or gold in it!
Have you examined it under a loupe yet? I have a piece of an iron meteorite with little flecks of visible gold in it. But I couldn’t be sure it had gold in it until I looked at it with a loupe.
that was a hoax wasnt it?
@@decodingancientscripture thank you for that. I could find nothing about this in anything I read.
ตามๆๆๆ
Go put the sign back son
Steve & Jeff love your show's I would like to know if mine are meatorite
Early one morning I saw a trail of smoke descending over the mountain across my village about 3 years ago
Class action lawsuit is the way to go
Hello... Where can I sell my meteorite?
I would love to go meteorite hunting. But financial difficulties prevent it :(
Same bro
I think I found the most valuable meteorite. I found 2 different kinds of meteorites in the same small town. One kind is iron meteorites and I found 7 of them in a small area. The second one is one that no geologist in the state I live in has ever seen. The metal content in the meteorite was tested to be magnesium by one geologist and another geologist identified it as being a meteorite. It is a none magnetic meteorite. All are wondering how old it is. So that's what I've been working on. The problem is that everyone that tests them, wants me to send it in by mail and I've been told many times not to do that. Always hand deliver it.
I havent even watched this, but i opened the comments... Im glad you stole the sign 😈
11:24 XDD $50 ?
Max $3 imo
What is that piece worth?
سلام استاد مشتری برای شهاب سنگ دارین؟؟

Classy
Please I have some samples, if you can help me to identify them, do you have an email
It is sad to see a person who finds a piece of cientific information, a trasure for humankind...and he finally says , this is 20 bucks.
Illegal in Australia to sell meteorites.
Must be handed in to A Museum.
LOL
Nice
My friend had it for almost 45 years crash in Victoria's city Negros Occidental
Yo!
anyone else spot the UFO at 1:54
So that big meteorite slammed into earth in a place that's been picked over for years and it was just sitting on top of the ground like that? I'm calling bullshit. Y'all planted that for the show because all you found was dust the entire time lol.
bossku saya juga menemukan batu meteor jenis springwater yg beratnya 20kg

@@jasonpoharama9043 Hello Jason, how did you find yourself, will you have a wp, to send you photos and information about the meteorites?
@@carloscontrerasurbano9293 what do you mean for me to send pictures to you of mine?
@@jasonpoharama9043 Hi Jason, a while ago you mentioned in comments that you had found some meteorites. And I told you that some meteorites fell on my roof and patio. do you still want to see the photos, and if so, where are they sent?

So I have a idea for you guys to consider. What if you took your hiking boots and somehow installed a coil in the sole. The batteries and circuit board with Bluetooth could be in the sole as well so all you would need to do is pair an earpiece so wherever you walk your boots do the detecting. I have thought about doing this to a pair of boots but maybe you guys might give it some thought. See if it's worth the while..
Funny he doesnt understand metal detecting…same way traffic lights work
Please can help me get a hold of these guys I need their assistance verifying a 5 kg meteor.
Particularly a pallasite!
its just iron bro
Rescued the sign from oblivion you say? Really you just stole it and relocated it to another form of oblivion - your bar at home! Entitled prat.
🤔
Why are Meteorites of any real value?
And how would you even start to place a value on one?
Scarcity
typical American show,, this could be such an interesting series of programmes unlike nay other, bu the emphasis on $$ with each find showing its value rather than scientific value is very off putting, no onle likes a show off at a party who talks about money all the time and what they have, its no different here.
Spark. I am David. I believe I have the location of a vast number of meteorites. I would like for someone to listen to my theory. If I am correct, I believe there is such a haul that the volume would decrease the market value. Let me know if you would like to hear my thoughts.
Dh Davis meteorite see anything pm
Id rather see actual scientists doing this stuff, not just two numbskulls.
Bangladesh mini rice
Bunch of jokers. Their called neodymium magnets. Very dangerous
How are you? I have meteorites for sale. I am in Turkey
