Just KANDU only SWADESHI cannot be true !!
Especially when the professor then goes on to say Anuradhapura, Mahiyangana, Ampara etc is swadeshi. @#!?
Plus, Thoni-gala (ship-rock) Kala Sumana is also swadeshi; but using Sanskrit (& Brahmi);
Kāla (Sanskrit: काल) name of a deity, in which sense it is not always distinguishable from kāla, meaning "black"
Sumana = very charming, beautiful, handsome in Sanskrit.
Why have you mentioned many merchant guilds, even Java Navika but not what prof. Paranavitana found near Abhayagiri; Karava Navika, they are still the coastal people and do not require an interpretation or explanation, even perhaps as far back as when the island (SL) was part of India. They carry names like Warunakula, Ellakuttige.
Archaeological finds at Minihagalkanda Yala, Ruhuna establishes that 'swadeshi' cannot be confined to just hills. Probably the attachment to artificial classifications and segmentation of the people in SL is affecting the reality, but the misguidance could get fertile in the minds of the common man and encourage another form of fascism and/or limited understanding as mentioned via an exclusive Mahavamsa view.
Explanation of the videshi people is lacking other than just the monks who neglected the swadeshi ??!!
The present SL population carries on average 5% Veddha DNA and their language is largely Indian. Hence the swadeshi-videshi mentioned is imaginary ?!
