- Your credit score affects many aspects of your financial life. It can influence your interest rate for a mortgage loan, your eligibility for a credit card, the price of your car insurance and even your eligibility for certain jobs!
If you are a newcomer, you are probably not familiar with this typically North American system. However, it is important to understand it well and have the right reflexes so that your credit score is good.
In this video I share simple and effective ways to improve your credit score.
Here is the summary of the video:
Your credit score is a numerical score that represents your creditworthiness. It is between 300 and 900. The higher it is, the more you are considered a reliable borrower, which allows you to obtain financial services at the best rates.
These are the two main credit bureaus in Canada, Equifax and TransUnion, which collect information about your credit history and compile it into a report to determine your history and score.
To ensure your credit improves over time, you should:
- Pay your bills on time
- Control your use of credit
- Limit credit requests
- Consolidate your debts
- Establish a budget and stick to it
- Increase your credit history
By reviewing your history, you may spot errors that affect your credit score. You should have them corrected quickly.
