@@unlimitedrabbityou've got it backwards.. King's high pitched screams as you call it MADE their moments more iconic, it didn't cost them any points.. JR had more classic calls obviously but King did more than hold his own as the color commentator
Bobby Heenan is a man of many talents. Not only is he one of the greatest managers of all time but one half of one of the greatest commentary teams of all time with Gorilla Monsoon.
I'm so old that I remember The Heenan Family starting. All Star Wrestling, and Bockwinkel and Stevens introduce Heenan as their manager. Bockkwinkel and Stevens beat down young "good guys" Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell. After the match, Larry Hennig became a "good guy" and saved The High Flyers from The Heenan Family's beatdown. Gosh... that was 50 years ago, and I still can picture watching it all unfold on TV.
I grew up watching Heenan in WWF and WCW where he was masterful on commentary. The man really knew his shit and how to present it to where those of us appreciate what WWE Vault is doing by sharing a majority of his work in WWF during an era where guys like me connected with the Brain as hard as we laughed at the pickles he got himself mixed up in.
For anyone interested, there's a great RUclips channel called 'Weasel Tales', where the videos are about 6-7 minute audio clips of Bobby Heenan telling some of the best stories you'll hear, both wrestling related and just life in general. R.I.P. Weasel, you legend.
You know someone has nuclear level heat when a fan tries to blast them 😂 I love when Heenan would get something wrong on commentary he'd just double down and make it work as heel.
'You listen to me you go to the top! You don't listen to me, your never heard from again!' In my book Bobby Heenan was not only the Brain but also the blueprint because he knew how to play the part perfectly as a heel as Jack said in the intro as either a manager or commentator.
Heyman even came up with his being an 'advocate' rather than manager, because he knew he could only hope to be second best as a manager. But he could be the greatest 'advocate'.
Not just greatest manager. Greatest performer period. People forget Heenan was considered an incredible worker in the ring as well before he focused on mangling due to injuries. Wrestlers from that time all recognize Heenan as the best they'd ever seen
When I started watching wrestling in 1990 my brothers and I immediately loved Bobby’s commentary with monsoon. Then we purchased lots of the silver screen videos and heenan was gold as a manager. The best manager and commentator. Loved the guy
Ngl. It took awhile, but I think Heyman has surpassed The Brain as my favorite manager. However, as a child of the eighties, no one will ever be a better color commentator to me than Bobby The Brain Heenan! If you're a younger fan, and you've never heard him call a match, I recommend the 92 Royal Rumble. "It's not fair to Flair!"
Sat ringside for a weasel suit match vs Gagne and my friend got the honor of a big wade of spit that came outa Bobby from a whip into a turnbuckle which directly landed on my friends shoulder! Was awesome cuz wasn't me but made a lifetime memory🤣 Greatest funny man and manager all time.
AWESOME JOB !!! Heenan was definitely a Top manager of Pro Wrestling. He gave ALOT to the sport. Laughs & crying / His on screen Good Bye to Monsoon from WCW. His final years were definitely tough to see, due to all the surgeries he endured. The treatment WWE, gave him as well. Just not even acknowledging his existence, was hardest. The Brain, gave so much and WWE just failed him.
I loved his comment on the Rockers breaking up... When he said Marty Janetty put himself through the barbershop lime a coward to get away from Shawn Michaels
His out of print book is well worth tracking down. They were called the Heenan Family as a nod to the Manson family as well. Perfect for a group of bad guys in the early 70’s.
My top 5 Heenan Family members (WWF): 1) Andre the Giant 2)Ric Flair 3)Mr. Perfect 4)Rick Rude 5)King Kong Bundy My worst 5 Heenan Family members (WWF): 5)The Barbarian 4)Missing Link 3)Lex Luger 2)Brooklyn Brawler 1)Red Rooster
I look back at that Hogan/Andre WMIII feud and see just how mercenary Hogan is. Anyone else would have had Andre beat him and then have the battle to win back the belt from the unbeatable monster.
Just think how many world championships went through the Heenan Family and how many of them are beloved today as a result of what The Brain was able to do to make them nuclear hated by the Universe.
The original Paul Heyman, a non-wrestler who excelled in whatever role he was put in. Be it commentary, manager of a faction of dastardly heels, or just a fiendish personality to have scheming in the background.
"The two things that scare me most about wrestling fans is that they're allowed to vote and allowed to reproduce" They didn't call him The Brain for nothing. ❤
Though I (too) consider Bobby to be the greatest manager there has been - and though I hate to name the greatest anything - I tend to think he gets overly praised at times. He was obviously great, but not every promo he did was a classic. I don't think he was a good commentator in WCW though he did have his moments. He was just older and not quite as sharp. I guess I shall have to deal with that.
I thought if they had hyped Flair with Bobby in his corner when he came to the WWF that it couldve been like the AWA days when he had Nick Bockwinkel that Flai would be his new Nick to battle Hogan and one match the main event at WM and hype it all year like they did with Andre the Giant put it ESPN and they give interviews and beat common opponents until they meet at the main event at WM and bring up Flairs pass and all the titles and finally the world will see who is the man , byt nope house shows for what was on every cover of every wrestling mag why? They blew the biggest match ever they did and it was nit hard to hype.
@ Dillon was more of a valet than a manager. Heenan on the other hand managed the Brain Busters to three world tag titles and a lot of other wrestlers who did a lot of stuff.

the 1989 Heenan family of Andre, Rick Rude, Haku, and the Brain Busters was my favorite lineup of the Heenan Family
The greatest manager of all time, and part of the best commentary duos with Gorilla Monsoon
Well said
JR and King had their moments but those high pitched screams from Lawler cost them points.

@@unlimitedrabbit very entertaining indeed
Best manager, hands down. Nobody perfected their role better than "The Brain".
Facts
Heenan was just a magnet for legendary names in the industry. Man managed a who’s who of the biggest names in 70’s and 80’s wrestling.
YES. Heenan is one of my all time favorites!
Really well researched. Great job, Jack. Top turnbuckle work.
Lovely little Boxing Day treat there on my favourite manager and commentator of all time. Thanks to all involved in putting it together; great work.

Now this is an unexpected STORYTIME! Gem i wasn't expected but i'll be damned i def want to learn more about the underrated Heenan Family ❤

R.I.P. Weasel, you legend.
Lovely piece of business, as only Cultaholic can do it. Many thanks and Merry Christmas to you all.
The Weasel is one of my favorites. Bobby the Brain is unparalleled as a heel manager. I always include him as one of my favorite wrestlers.
You know someone has nuclear level heat when a fan tries to blast them 😂 I love when Heenan would get something wrong on commentary he'd just double down and make it work as heel.

You mf’ers popping in at the end of the WWE Netflix commercial during an NFL game was something special. Well done.
This is long overdue my guys. Thank you!
I want managers like the 80’s back in today
When Heyman and Cornette both say Heenan was the best, you can't really argue
Just watch back any of the old programs with Brain involved, he was ALWAYS on
Heyman even came up with his being an 'advocate' rather than manager, because he knew he could only hope to be second best as a manager.
But he could be the greatest 'advocate'.
Bobby mentored both of them, don't get Cornette or Heyman without the brain.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays From The Heenan Family
Awesome job. Learned some things. Jack is good at narrating the story.
This was a great to the point presentation 👏 Thank You
Come and see where Don Callis got his temu brand stable from by appreciating the original and the GOAT
Facts he definitely got it from greatest manager lol

that commentary from the 1992 Royal Rumble was 🤌
One of my favorite lines was when Flair came out 3rd. Bobby yells, "Damn it!" And later, "Hey you, stupid. Get me something to drink!"
My favourite line is at the celebration afterwards where he says ‘if we were the sort of people to say we told you so but we told you so!”

Heenan and monsoon was the best commentary ever Bobby was easily the best manager out there
The Doctor of Style Slick very underrated.
Excellent video! Wish there were more wrestling videos like this one on RUclips.
I loved his comment on the Rockers breaking up...

Bobby Heenan. GOAT manager of all time by far and with Gorilla Monsoon, one of the best commentary teams ever.
Harley Race was only 43?!?!? Looked like 63. WTF.

This made for a great post-Christmas morning walk. Meanwhile, that other channel can't get the sound together.

This is a great vid on bobby heenan i never knew alfred hayes was a manager
I miss Bobby Heenan . Especially when him and Gorilla Monsoon were commentary partners . He's in that great big ring in the sky . RIP Bobby 😢😊
RIP Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, the best to ever do it.
Heenan should’ve managed the WWF World Champion at some point
I really liked the Brains commentary on wrestlemania 8
Excellent video! Thanks 🙏
Glad I'm early for this 1!
Bobby Hennan, truly one of the greatest managers in the history of wrestling.
If Heenan was still alive he would be making $$$ hosting a podcast...
It was a wonderful time to be a wrestling fan.
Well this looks like a great time watching this one
Nice. This is the content I'm looking for.👍
Nick Bockwinkel once said "If you have to be stuck in the Sioux Falls airport, the person you want to be stuck there with is Bobby Heenan."
My top 5 Heenan Family members (WWF):

How dare you disrespect The Brawlers good name. He's a living legend. 😮
Thanks 🎉
excellent work
When it comes to Wrestling Managers, my Mount Rushmore would include...
Bobby Heenan, Jim Cornette, Paul Heyman and Paul Bearer
I look back at that Hogan/Andre WMIII feud and see just how mercenary Hogan is. Anyone else would have had Andre beat him and then have the battle to win back the belt from the unbeatable monster.
You could watch it live then or watch it new to you now, and Heenan will still entertain. That's being one of the greats, even if he was a weasel.
Just think how many world championships went through the Heenan Family and how many of them are beloved today as a result of what The Brain was able to do to make them nuclear hated by the Universe.
I like to think that paul heyman as a manager is the closest thing we have to a bobby heenan manager.
Great video
Don’t forget Bobby brought in James E. Cornette !
That made Jim an instant Heel..! 👞
Manager of the year.
The real king of the Ring!
Thanks to WWE 2K24 having a better legends roster, I"ve had the Heenan Family as the main heel faction in my universe mode lol.
The original Paul Heyman, a non-wrestler who excelled in whatever role he was put in. Be it commentary, manager of a faction of dastardly heels, or just a fiendish personality to have scheming in the background.
Bobby did manage Flair one night only in WCW as well
The Real G.O.A.T........God Bless
RIP bobby hennan u are missed
Will you STOP!

They didn't call him The Brain for nothing. ❤
Royal Rumble 92 has better commentary with Heenan than the mach has action
Pop Goes the Weasel.
Not fair to Flair!!
Duncum NOT Duncam!
Love him

Him and gorilla used to kill me
