@@WillemVerb There was an old guy around the corner from me when I went to college, it was sort of a hobby of his that he'd get these basket case Porsches and build them back, made a bit of side money in the process, he'd re-do them, drive them a bit, then sell it when he found another basket case.
As a petrolhead and photographer myself, I certainly must say this and the new Porsche and also Subaru videos are one of my favourites of yours. There is just something about photography and cars that feels symphonic.
I think ; M3, M2 & M1 is definitely Porsche 356. M4 is an early 901, 60's 911. & M4-2/ M4-P is 912 (Also a Leica & Porsche savior model) M5 is 996? First light meter & first watercooled, People hates it, but believe me it started to grow some love on them. ❤ For me M6/7 is a 997.1/2 But, i would say M6 is 997.2. A last analog Sweet Spot. And i guess M8 is 991? ✌🏽
Yup prices are now trending up, I’m always two steps behind buying a 911 it seems.. 997’s have almost got away from my budget now the 996 will soon do it to me haha.
Also grew up watching Top Gear, and the road trip episodes were always my favorite. This felt a lot like that, but more serene, meditative, calm, etc. Great stuff
Congratulations! When I picked up my first Porsche, my wife came with me. We just drove from one end of SoCal to another, so no great road trip like yours. But I still remember being the happiest guy on the 405 lol. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Long live the 996.
Really, really wish the frame on the Mamiya had shot just a couple seconds later, to have a Cbrtrk on a trailer in the background. Would have been mint. Decisive moment, for sure.
Your Volvo series ended up on my RUclips page, as I am a Volvo fan. I must say that your editing in this story is on par with top RUclipsrs. You have a knack for this. Combine my respect and appreciation for Porsche's, driving, Sound of the Flat Six and story telling and you were able to this viewer. Keep up the good work kid!
Idk if this happens much, but I was a bit surprised to find out "the Volvo V70 rebuild guy" has a successful photography channel with way more subs ahaha - had no idea about this channel! Congrats on getting the Porsche, and thanks for sharing a lovely video with us
Been following you for years for photography content. So glad that we both bought our dream 996 a few months ago. Can’t wait to explore the country with the best driving experience. Congrats!
One of the better car videos I've seen in a while, and your photography is stunning, Man! And on film! An old soul in a young body. Hope the Porsche shakes out to all you hoped it would be.
Congrats, I looked at that 911. You got a solid car for the money. The respray is a little rough at the edges, but for the money you can't complain everything else seemed sorted. Enjoy, it's a great looking 996.
This is so cool.. I found your channel from a years old video of yours in which you were trying out some old expired film. Then it turns out you have 996 content just freshly coming out.. amazing! I grew up with a couple of 1999 996 in the family, love it.
Awesome man, welcome to the club. I just picked up my dream car Porsche 996 2 months ago. I started a channel to document my journeys and modifications. Good luck with it, hope you post more videos driving with it.
Congrats Willem on your new porsche, looks amazing seeing it in person on my daily walks.! Congrats on your new car and keep up the good work ! (From your fellow neighbor)
Congrats. Keep an eye on regular oil changes (10-15k km). The IMS is something that if you can change do it, but dont loose your mind. Modify the exhaust, drive and enjoy.
Congrats. 996 is a great car. I too just recently got my first 911 and I doubt I’ll ever be without one again. One of my favorite things to do is throw the camera and the dog in the car and explore. Enjoy!
What beautiful scenery! I came across your other channel about a month ago and watched through all your videos and thoroughly enjoyed those series. This just popped up in my recommended feed and I was a little confused when I saw this was from 2 weeks ago thinking it was on the other channel, haha. Can't wait to see more on the Porsche on the second channel!
That photo of the road at 11:16 is so nice by the way, it just has that air of a proper photograph, all the elements in the landscape come together super nicely, the clouds are excellent and the varied diffusion of the light just brings it all together. Veery nice matey!
This is best advice join the Porsche club I bought a 987 Cayman I got 27 car built took 3 months to get it’s car I have ever driven the people are great and the knowledge they possess will help you to solve many a problem. I am blessed with having Virginia International Raceway in my backyard the club gets me on the track and they will teach you how to drive fast safely
Bravo! I have had that same dream myself, litterally since I was a teenager! Looking foward to the wrenching videos on the car channel. I've been told these are easier cars to work on than Volvo, but we'll soon see! Congratualions on finding complete beauty like that! Cheers, Willem!
Absolutely stunning, I have been looking at 996s recently and seeing a red one is so refreshing as there are so many grey/silver/black cars. Enjoy many happy miles
“Cant relate, mine only overheats.” 🤣😂😅 Dude this video was excellent! That isn’t a surprise though, you always put out top shelf content that helps me learn some shit on top of being thoroughly entertained. So this video was especially nice because we got all the usual gain out of it ON TOP of getting to see you experience such an exciting badass moment in your life. The Porsche is absolutely badass! Thanks for all your hard work, bro 🤟🏼
Congratulations and welcome to the world of Porsche and analog cars…drive and not be driven. Beautiful red 996. I have the same passion for Porsche and film cameras.
nice purchase, I was wandering how long it takes till you get a porsche. i think the 996 is a nice choice and a future classic. keen to see what mods you're plan to do on the car..
The Volvo to Porsche pipeline is real! This is the next car I want to get and I’ve wanted it a while. S60R/V70 and Porsche 911 is the two car solution.
There are Porsche tours you can take in various parts of Europe where you drive with a group of other people in rented Porsches between resorts for a week or so.
This is what California dreaming looks like. 🔥
The red 996 is cheaper than Hectors black Type R, but when you say I drive a 911 sounds better then say I drive a Type R 😂 no offence Hector .
Nah i love yalls cars Porsche, Thank u for ur perfect Brand, I LOVE the 996 so much it looks great
Porsche car photobook shot by Willem? 👀🔥 I'd buy
Shout out Hector. The car friends that are always down to drive hundreds or thousands of miles for a good marketplace deal are real ones. 🤝
That’s my dawg!!!
Congrats on the Porsche. Now it’s time to Volvo swap it
Light work

6:15 - no wonder your viewfinder misaligns the way you throw in your bag hahaha. Amazing video as always.
The shot (view) of you @9:22 is amazing! Get that printed!
thanks for bringing us along man, was fun hanging out with you guys
A manual 996, great! The 996 is because of the headlights the most underrated and less expensive 911's currently. Prices are going up.
yeah, and don't to forget the rust that the 996 has to deal with.. :/
A salvaged 996 with overheating issues is nothing to brag about.. Trade in a Leica M6 and you can have one too
Yup prices are now trending up, I’m always two steps behind buying a 911 it seems.. 997’s have almost got away from my budget now the 996 will soon do it to me haha.
great vid! Congrats on the car. I love that song that starts at 5:03 . Where can find it? Whats the name on Musicbed?

4:53 that the new Cybertruck charging platform?
Hector’s a real one man. Incredible road trip and congrats on that beauty!
I had a bad day today. Your pure joy of picking up the Porsche and beautiful road trip photos heal me. Thank you, Willem!
Wild that the cyber truck just cruising by lol😂
I would say the tow truck was cruising and the cyber truck looked like it snapped some suspension 😂

Awesome, love it’s got the aero kit without the taco, it’s a rarer look, but the small Techart spoilers look cool, my 99 has the same
So happy for you! Car looks freshhhhhhh
