This was my grandpa's brother... I never knew him personally, but I knew this song for all of my life. I really wish I had met him before he passed away...
Andrew James Bunny Mack is Yoruba descent Sierra Leonan. Nigerians regard him as Nigerian because of his Yoruba ancestry and his families are still in the music industry in Nigeria . What matters is his music and how we all regardless of where he's from enjoy the music and this wonderful borderless genius
Beleive it or not, at London's Notting Hill this was a very very popular track to play on the floats and some of the soundsystems, back in the early 80s. Never knew it was from Africa! Big up Afircan soca!!!
This song use to be played so much in Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 in the Caribbean in the 80's and early 90's because it is a calypso fusion and calypso music was born in Trinidad and obviously at all the Caribbean parties in London but I never knew the singer was originally from Sierra Leone . Love it. ❤
Im a african in american, or what they like to say afrian american, i love this it reminds me of the home land a land I have never been to but soon I will go home, west africa we left you 500 years ago but we will return, reminds me of 70s and 80s african music in america, we arent that far from home we all sound the same and party the same, funk soul rhythm, CLASSIC SONG!
RIP Bunny Mack, your music brought joy and happiness to anyone who listened to it. I was in my teens when I first heard your music. Now am a grandma and my grand kids are loving it. Thanks a bunch. And when you get to heaven give them a taste of your wonderful talent. God bless your soul.
Good old days! We danced this song in the early 80s. How I wish one could go back in time and live those wonderful moments again. Life is too short to be locked up in a dream world.
+John Iwuji These are songs we grew into. Until today, I did not even bother to find out who played it. It was just a song - a nice song. I guess that was before singing and music became influenced by excess money. A good song was just meant to be enjoyed in that generation. No big fuss about that as we have it today.
+John Iwuji don't forget, those sexy girls are mostly for the benefit of males. you are right, modern day African music is no good. a lot of them have horrible voices and the lyrics are not soulful. my observation, of course.
Very true lizzy they cannot sing And they are just fly by night artists. not real talent this record was a massive hit in Jamaica ultimate party record what we call a jam. RIP BUNNY....
RIP Bunny Mack and thanks very much for blessing us with you sweet voice and good music, your music will live forever …..Sierra Leone will miss you, Africa will miss you and the world will miss you
Mine too! And she would insert swahili translations I was pretty sure we’re part of the song. Started singing it to my kid today and came to find lyrics only to see there was never any swahili words😂!
One of Africa's finest and greatest.. I listened to one of his interviews he did in the UK, he said he wrote this song less than 10mins and it was a great hit playing all around the globe. You made Sierra Leone proud, the Green, White and Blue was well represented. Sleep on sir till we meet again.. Saloneborbortigi!
My first visit to Nigeria, late 90's I heard this song in Imo state on the radio, staying in our village, Ioved it then and always will brings back amazing memories, never knew sang it. RIP Bunny Mack and thank you.🙏🏽🔥
Played at every party as a kid. i was about 8 years old, I'm Sierra Leonian, and I loved seeing all the aunties and uncles going low at the break in the song. I'd join in too....glad I got to experience real music, and I'm here listening in 2024 at age 42, and I still remember all the words 😂

Beautiful song, flash back to"Age Group" Christmas parties way back then, man, this song was played in most parties in villages, may his soul rest in peace, 🙏🏿.
Let's set the record straight. Bunny Mack, like many Sierra Leoneans (myself included) have a trace of a few African countries. We are Sierra Leoneans through and through. Many creoles still carry yoruba middle names, but that has nothing to do with present-day Nigeria. The percentage of Nigerian ancestry in some of us is very minute or negligible. We are nevertheless proud of it.
Bunny mack may your soul rest in perfect peace...we are really proud of you even those that u are not a life, u are the only sierra Leone artist that Nigeria super star imetated your music flavour.
