Love seeing your layout .... lived in Omaha for 10 years as a kid, but in the north section of town.... however, I DO remember the suburbs to the south of us. Looking forward to more from you...
Sorry for the super late response, I have been taking a break from videos and plan to start up posting again soon. Glad you enjoyed the tour and I will be starting up a new layout project soon and will have more tour videos.
It's amazing how small and simple your trackplan is when shown on a diagram, yet in the video it looks insanely massive. Amazing amount of operations packed in a relatively small space. Love the light rail station. The ashphalt on that highway bridge is pure artwork. And that was a fun little business car special to have go around the tracks. What is it like to make the decision to yank an industry out of rail service? I am asking as I would have a hard time doing that--and not just because of the space limitations on my end. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks, I hadn't realized that about the simplicity of the track diagram versus how the layout could look larger in life. I would say the decision to remove an industry is very relaxing - I really enjoy making things simpler and taking out something that I didn't fully like anyway.
Thank you! Sure, I can definitely show a video on how I set JMRI up for an op session. I need to do a little work on resetting my JMRI first, then I can get to that.
Yeah it looks really nice, so I hope I can get the trucks working better! I was really hoping that the new track at Albright would have solved the issues that I had with it before, but it evidently was not the tight curves being the problem...
Sorry for the super late response, I have been taking a break from videos and plan to start up posting again soon. I made a video about this: ruclips.net/video/_1SZ9lCVddc/видео.html I used them to "control" the manual switches, although I might try to do something else on my next layout and have them more functional.
I see that you got your Proto Throttle back! Great small layout! Eric, do you live in the South Omaha/Bellevue area? Bruce Giroux lives in Council Bluffs, IA. I think he lives new Lake Manawa? I've always thought about having a layout depicting the Power Plant and the Ethanol Plant and the container yards of Council Bluffs, IA! You and @John2618 like your small switching layouts! If you do live in the Omaha area, we might have to meet sometime?
Yep, the Proto Throttle just needed to have a handle gear fixed and they were able to do it free of charge. I actually live in the Denver area and have been here for about 15 years. Before that, I lived in Bellevue, where I grew up, so that's why I enjoy modeling the South Omaha/Bellevue area. That sounds like a fun idea for a model railroad layout. And thanks for the tip on checking out Bruce's switching layout.
Thanks! It's actually a Gemini capsule and I found it when looking for a 1/100 scale Gemini model (I could not find a 1/87, so my options were 1/100 or 1/72) and this one is a 3D-printed model that I found on Shapeways.
Thanks! I have always been intrigued by the TP&W, especially since the Santa Fe had acquired it during the SPSF merger era. So I figured I would have some TP&W cars to show that ownership and also my interest in it.
The boxes serve two purposes. The small ones are for unlocking gates to the spur tracks and the larger ones hold notes to the crew from the industry with instructions on where to place the cars. The crew will open the box before switching the customer to make sure the gate is open and read any instructions from the industry.
That's cool you noticed that - these are HO Scale Road Champs Flxible buses that were made a couple decades ago. I stripped the paint off them (they were originally painted for Houston METRO) and then I painted them up in a slightly altered Omaha MAT scheme, with decals that I designed myself.
Awesome job! Thanks for the update. Great that you have your daughter involved with you in the hobby.
Thanks! Yes, it is fun to share it with her!
Thanks for the tour and update, Eric. All is looking good! Keep the videos coming. Mike
Thank you! I will definitely keep up the videos and keep progressing with the layout.

That's really awesome! Glad to hear you have been enjoying it and it is good to hear from a fellow Omaha-area resident!
@@emillerz I reside in West Virginia these days, but have many good memories of growing up in Omaha....
Nice man. I love the rock island and the golden west service idea. Very slick
Thank you, I appreciate it! I feel that it is fun to express creativity through model railroading, another one of the great aspects of the hobby.
Enjoyed the tour.

2:26 Good to see you've got the Prottle Throto back! ;)
For sure! It just needed a new gear for the whistle handle, repaired free of charge.
Good ol hand of God re rail...😁 great update
Yep, didn't want to resort to that, but here we are!
@@emillerz lord knows how long it would have taken to summon the MOW crane then retail crews...lol

Your progressing well

Enjoyed the tour! Would be fun to hear more about how you set up JMRI for an op session.

Thanks for the tour. You have a really nice layout. Look forward to future videos.
Awesome, glad you enjoyed the tour, thanks!
Hey Eric, enjoyed the video, hope you get that rock island car fixed, I started drulling when I seen it. Thanks for sharing

Great update and tour. Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing more progress!! Happy Newyear!! -Jason
You bet, thank you for watching and Happy New Year to you as well!
I enjoyed your layout tour. One question though, what's with all the padlocks?

@@CONTAINERMAN68 Gotcha, thanks for the clarification!
Your Argentine ATSF geep is cool. You're way too worried about rivetcounters.
I am only worried about one rivetcounter, myself! :)
👍
Your layout looks great. Who made the Mercury capsule in the park by the runaround track? I particulary enjoy ops session videos.

You got that straight!
@@emillerz that Rock Island passenger car is nice. The wheels probably just need to be realigned, or replaced.
Just ran across your channel. I know the locks on the facia are for the switches, but what is in the boxes that have a lock?
The boxes serve two purposes. The small ones are for unlocking gates to the spur tracks and the larger ones hold notes to the crew from the industry with instructions on where to place the cars.
