I watched my Mom's heart break after my Dad died. I am their only child. We decided to sell the house, buy a place for all of us, and she asked us to build her a tiny house. She needed a fresh start though we both cried when we went to the closing. I wish I could give your Momma a hug.

Maybe the two of you could connect over social media. Always nice to have someone to talk to that can relate and then you also can support each other.
Some people would find it comforting to live in the house that they lived in with their spouse-and that’s ok! Some people are the exact opposite where it’s painful to live in that house without them-that’s ok! What’s not ok is to tell someone how they should be heal. I’m happy your mom found what would be best for her!

I'm going through the same thing as your mom. I lost my husband 2 years ago, and it still hurts when I walk into the house and he is not here with me. I have so many reminders and the tears just come everytime I see something he made, fixed or used. It takes a long time to get over the loss of a husband, specially when you were loved, cherised, cared for and respected by him in the way that every woman should be. I will keep her in my prayers and wish her the best in her future.
Aww bless her heart, I know her pain, after 43 years of marriage my husband died with blood clot in his heart. The loneliness is horrible. It’s been 4 years and I moved rooms around in the house, but he’s still supposed to be in his chair. My house is to big now and I’m about to sell and find small place too. It’s not to leave memories but to be able to start new ones too. It broke my heart to see her wipe tears but there’s more where they come from, for a time anyway. She’ll get to the place of memories but no tears. Stay close to her and keep the kids in her life daily, so she’ll feel needed. God Bless on your moves. I enjoy the video and following y’all.

Life is very hard sometime, I lost my daughter two years ago this August 24, she was only 36, for everyone else it has been two year , but for me it's like it just happened 2 hours ago.. It's hard to move on when every where you look you see them.. I hope your house sells fast and that your heart finds some peace... Take your joy and your love that you had together and hold it tight to your heart, I'm sure he will be with you as you learn a new walk in life.. One day at a time! God Bless you!

I know exactly how your Mom feels. I lost my husband 6 years ago to cancer. When he found out he was really sick he got his retirement out and paid our home completely off. That way he knew I’d have a home. I thank God we were out of debt. A fresh start will help you all. My prayers are with y’all. God bless y’all.

When my dad passed, my aunt advised my mom to stay put for one year to get her bearings and decide with less emotion about where she wanted to be. It helped everyone a lot and gave everyone a little more stability while we all figured out what direction we were to go.
Also, side note, lightly sand the cedar and the aroma will return.

I went through the same thing with my mom years ago when she lost my dad. Sometimes there are too many memories in a home for them to get out from under the heart break. Not that they want to move on to forget their spouse, but to have peace and happiness again. May God bless her and she moves forward in her new life. Much love to your family through this change in life.

I hope this helps your mom get some interest in the property, sometimes you need to shut the door on the past, take your memories and be able to move on. Everyone is different for some staying put brings comfort for others it's a painful reminder that slaps you in the face every time you turn round. Memories are meant to be a comforting thing that you relive in your mind when your ready but living in the same house they're with you 24/7 in your case I think it's the best choice for everyone. Time to spread your wings, blessings

yes. I know how it feels, I left the great state of Kansas. Me and my Middle child, her and I packed up and moved to Oklahoma. Now married to my wonderful great husband Robbie. and Loven life to its fullest. 7 kids and 14 grandkids with 1 on the way and one great grand child. can't be more blessed.

I still have issues with loss of my son 20 yrs ago and my two cats two years ago. I still think I see them out of the corner of my eye sometimes. I totally understand the need to move. Why not at the lake!
The insulated unit is failed in the patio door. Easy Peasy to replace.

When my daughter moved three hours away with what was then my only grandchild (but now I have four), I moved, too, to live about 15 minutes away from them. And I downsized from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom condo, which is perfect. Someone else does all the yard work and snow plowing, so I just have to take care of the inside, and I can grow all the flowers and veggies I want to. I hope and pray that your Mom's house sells quickly, and that she finds the perfect place to start over, hopefully close to you and Jen. I loved this video! Love from Maine!

My heart breaks for your mom. Grief affects everyone different. I can't imagine how hard it must be to come home and be reminded every day that your soul mate is not there anymore. Just an observation...wouldn't it be an added selling point, if in the description of the home on Realtor.com, the "large building with finished living space", was stressed a little more? Nice lady. I lost my husband 4 years ago in October. I know the feelings you are going through. It took me a year to decide what I wanted to do. Our daughter lived in St. Louis MO and I was in CO. I lost my mother 2 years before and she lived with my sister. I had been retired for several years and I talked my sister into retiring and so we both sold our homes in CO and we moved to AZ. We have been here almost 3 years and love it. We are in a small community in Dewey AZ. The weather here is like CO. We get snow in the winter months but it usually is gone by noon except for last winter we got 18 inches and it took a week for it to melt. We were the only ones in the neighborhood that had a snow shovel. I travel to St. Louis several times a year to visit again except this year because of the virus. I have a small garden and belong to 3 bowling league. That might change this year too because of the virus. I stay very active and have found great people to hang out with. My advise is to keep yourself busy and try new things. I’ll turn 78 in October and I’m still learning things everyday. God Bless you and I will pray that you find a new home and joy in you life.
At a year, I was still pretty raw following my husband's passing. Its been 13 years nows and I am at peace. Your family has done well to move on this year. A change is good. I wish you all the best. The stone house is adorable.

The tree you are thinking of is Weeping Willow Tree. They have roots that seek water. Usually found at the edge of bodies of water...streams, lakes, ponds, etc. Never plant near cesspools, water lines, septic systems, etc. Their roots will tangle with water lines and clog them up and bust them! They are beautiful, though! Your Mom is adorable! Hope she gets her front porch. God Bless you and your family!
