It's actually preferable that it does a body slam there otherwise you have to roll 3 or 4 times to dodge the orbs. Still kinda rng cause it's dependent on Malzeno slamming fast enough so the 2 last orbs fly into the air.

Unfortunately, no. It just resets the duration.

I quickly learned how many metsu it took to get initial KO and ride, so that wasn't an issue, and due to hitting forelegs on the 2nd metsu I didn't do a falling bash or shadow because I was afraid of getting ride and cancel KO.
For the second KO you really don't have to worry about it too much. In my old run I think I ran slugger lv2 plus dango slugger lv3. It's just a matter of building up enough KO to ensure 2nd KO during last phase. This is where most good runs died, if I did somehow manage to get 2nd KO before last phase it was already long dead haha.
Are you countering when you use the wire bug?
I use a bow and only a bow.
Yeah, sns has metsu, which counters an incoming attack
