One of the best arcade to home conversion for the 2600.

Did I just see a Stargate video without someone actually USING the Stargate?! I was a master of William's Defender and Stargate back in the day, and what really set Stargate apart was the way you could take 4 humans into it and skip the next 4 waves. You got tons of bonus points, smart bombs, and Inviso for that. Probably my favorite game of all time. In the arcade, I rolled 6 million on Defender and did a 27 million point game that lasted for 5 hours on Stargate once. I was forbidden to play at that pizza place again - I was "too good". 😁
As for the 2600 version - it was SO much better than the original 2600 Defender. Everything about it from the sound to the graphics to the gameplay made it one of those top 10 2600 games of the 80's. The only thing it needed was to use a controller w/more buttons!
It was amazing to see that, in spite of the fact that the 2600 was designed in 1976, in 1983/4, games were STILL coming out that you'd NEVER IMAGINE could be done on that platform. This was one of them. Ms. Pac-Man was another. Pitfall II was a masterpiece. H.E.R.O. and Empire Strikes Back were also amazing for their day.
Prior to 1981, Atari OWNED the arcades. For a brief few years after that, no one could TOUCH Williams arcade games (Robotron: 2084, Sinistar, Star Rider, Joust, etc.), or their pinball machines. It's a shame they just make gambling machines now...

Stargate was called Defender II as well; it's a sequel to the original in the arcades.
