I had a beautiful rare white 88. You did not exaggerate, they are great bikes and very versatile from transitioning youth riders up to adults. Great single track bikes.
Kawasaki need to bring the KDX back and modernize it 👌
One of my favorite bikes I’ve ever owned. They just did everything well. 🏁
Mate, you're not wrong. Mine was daily transport and a weekend thrasher. I cant think of any bike I've owned and lent on so hard that just kept on chugging problem free. Super loyal.
Dav Dave Just a great bike. 👍🏻
Anti Social Justice Warrior I had an 86’ IT200, same thing, rode it everywhere I went, they were good all around bikes like the KDX
Man going back a few years i stupidly passed up a 98 or 99 KDX 220 from a buddy who was the original owner, all paper work, an the minttt for 900bucks.. Still haunts me to this day lol.
Not to rub it in,because believe me I've been there, but gaddamn that's cheap!!!! Look online every day lately, can't buy anything for 900 now🙄
That sounds like the bike I bought last spring. The previous owner kept it in a barn for almost 15 years. Had all the original paperwork, owner's manual with stuff written in by hand. The dealer put on a FMF Fatty (not available anymore for the 220R) and some other goodies. Now it has the Ron Black high compression head and a Lectron carb. Omfg that thing rocks on trails. The tighter it gets, the more that bike shines. Best $1300 I ever spent.
@@suzyamerica4679 Score!!!
That's worthy of a Hitchcock episode right there man.
I just got one given to me from a friend, almost didn’t get it due to, to many projects.. but I was told by my dad I should atleast go look at it cause the engine could be used for our 200x chassis we got there and it only had bent bars from when the porch clasped on it🤷🏽
Long live the KDX! I have an 05 I bought brand new and now my son rides it. So glad I kept it.
just bought an 05 two days ago. do you know where I can find the stock jetting info?
Reminds me of when I was just a pup, going through my "wish books" Dirt Bike and Motocross magazines
87 Kdx 200 was my first bike. Took that thing through hell and back.. Sounds exactly like I remember 🤘 Great bike!
Same story here exactly, I came to reminisce
I had the exact same bike , my parents bought it for me brand new in 86 , I was the luckiest 16 year old on the planet, great bike .
Super stoked to say I'm a proud owner of an 05 KDX 220. All motor work done by Jeff Fredette. All suspension work done by Jeff Fredette.
Wow... Green-Machine!! Miss those colors. And that seat-cover looks original, even though it's a new cover.
My second bike, and arriving only a couple months after the first it felt as if it were my first. Still have it a year later, which might not sound like long, but ive had 4 other bikes come and go... This one always stuck around. Ill probably keep it forever, theres nothing else thats so cheap, so simple, and does everything so well as a trail rider. Doing a rebuild on it right now, im sure with 30psi more compression and new tight reeds itll be even more of a beast!
Replacing the stock double walled pipe with an aftermarket one offers the best bang-per-buck.
i met some life time friends i met raceing ,and they were dedicated kdx200 folks!! i converted them to KTM 200mxc's....and the rest is history! but they are kool old bikes!! i handed my KTM down to my son where he got a third that year!! great blog brother!
Had a 88 kdx kips.. Still smell that 2 stroke.. Loved it..
My favorite bike i have ever owned, its just amazing
What a beauty! I’m workin on my 86. Don’t think I’ll ever get it looking nearly half as mint as this one.
I just sold my 93 to a good friend of mine. That bike was a tank! It went every where and I dropped it more times then I could count and it looked the same as the day I got it! It would start first kick after sitting for 6 months too
After I finished racing my YZ-250 -1992, (at CCC in the "Championship Series") as a result of a bad crash I bought a new KDX (1990) and loved trail riding till I sold it and went on the lookout for a new bike. I was looking at Gas Gas, KTM, and Husky's. I tried a KDX 220R and just could not wrap my mind around spending 7K (back then) on a new bike when the KDX 220R was 4200 out the door with some small mods. I had Jeff Fredette do ALL MODS on it, bored the carb, milled and ported the head and cylinder, put a Rad-Valve on it, FMF Dessert pipe, re-valved the shock, Gold Seals in the forks with new Springs from RaceTech. and a modified airbox with a K&N filter. Amazing bike. It is road legal as well, so I do a ton of Dual Sports with it and pass 10K bikes all day long.
I have been restoring an 89 for the past few months. Almost done
man all these old bikes are so sweet, I would imagine getting parts to fix them is impossible if you want to enjoy riding them often.
Notice he said Ahrma enduro. Vintage comps are just a bit easier on equipment, unless you chose to ride it like you stole it.
Had an 85 , 87, 89 ,and a 91. The 91 was a rare white model that was completely gone through by Jeff Fredette. That bike would smoke most 250's of the era. I raced hare scrambles and motocross in district 6 on KDX 200 for 10yrs. Like Ken said it's a PROVEN bike.
I know how you feel when you get on a dirt bike, it brings smiles...I miss them days.
Wow!! I haven’t seen one this clean in years!! Kaplan’s has the best vintage bikes for sale!!
The suspension on those bikes are the best
The whole steering system basically performs the same functions as an expensive steering dampener. The front is really good for sharp choppy stuff .. like when you ride across that chop under the power lines, all stumps and rotten wood and holes and massive deflection on both ends.
I had an 87 4 or 5 years ago. Best bike I've ever owned, it can do it all
I had the same year and all it would do is run and deliver fun. Great for big hills, Hare and Hounds and simply trail riding in peace. Easily, my favorite bike.
Man seeing this bike brought back some memories. I had alot of fun on mine.
I'm currently restoring one of these to leave in my will for my son who is 12 years old learning to restore bikes now as he wants to be like me when he is older. BUT here in the UK I can't find a flywheel and gear selector shaft for this anywhere or a front head light thats all we need to finish this too so we have been stuck with it doing nothing for a year now unfortunately so we might have to sell it because we can't find these parts!
I had a 86 model in 1990. I have the same dream over and over, I go to my dads and open the storage building at its still there!
You can’t find - plus everyone out there is scamming, looking to get over on people - you guys literally put all your passion and effort on these bikes !!! I love it - Gold chains - have a good weekend fellas - 3’g’s up ... I’ll be up with a stack I wanna say yesterday... reality.. September
Classic intermediate Enduro KDX 200.

Have my fathers 86 kdx200, right now as we speak, I’m trying to do a somewhat restoration on it for him, and so we can enjoy it more.

I’ve got the exact same bike and same condition in my garage ,, don’t think I’ll ever part with it so rare now .
Team Green Forever!! Had 8 kdxs in past 30 years
I had a 85 IT200 Yamaha and rode it for over twenty years. I never realized how similar they were mine was nearly identical to the KDX

What’s up Jr. - Kaplan family -
You gotta do a video of the gym at the compound!! Jacked !!!! Only 2 - stroke to be legal ? That thing is insane !!!! Love the work orders ! As an amateur I learn and understand more- cool 🇺🇸🤝💪🏻💎
When I was 14 my father bought me a new 1976 Honda TL 125, I remember he paid 750.00 for it, I was with him when he bought it. loved that bike, years later I got back into bikes. I purchased a brand new 1992 KDX 250 back in the day..I also purchased new a 1987 XR 600R and a 1991 XR 600R I got used. wished I still had them..
So Good..... I was looking for one (air or LC either way) but in reality I needed something a bit more practical so I got a '79 DT250 that we are gonna port. It will do just fine on reasonable single track but nothing like this rig!
You guys should get a Kmx for your collection
Great Getaway bike!
I’m rebuilding mine. Pretty sick “last” parts should come in soon
I bought a 87 kdx 200 for 200$ I pulled it out of a field it was laying on its side. The plastics were trash it was beat up but the motor was almost mint and it was the best bike I ever had. Wish I never sold it
Beautiful job , would love to hang it on my living room wall lol
I used to have an 87. I rode the shit out of that bike and it never complained. Truly a great machine. I now have an 02 kdx 220 that my wife rides. It's great but the 87 was just strong and simple.
I ride a 2003 kdx 220r that is in EXCELLENT condition, it is a TALL ASS bike, you are dead on with that statement
Had a chance to sell my very good condition 2003 220R(road plated) last year for almost 50% more than I paid for it about 10-11 years ago. Got looking around for a replacement and best I could find was a rebuilt one in decent looking excellent running condition for the same price. I kept mine. I did miss out on an 06 200 last year. It looked mint for $2700 Cnd (was gonna be for my son). I drove out to look at it 45 min away, and by the time I got there, someone had put a down payment on it. Any KDX in good condition is getting very hard to find. It's even rarish to see beater KDXs for sale the last couple of years.
I remember even back in the 80s and 90s every time you found one used the lights were removed and it looked like a trashed out KX... I only ever rode the 93 that was bulky by 1996 standards. You would be the only two wheeler on the trails at dusk though
Love these bikes
What is a neet and seedles ken 👍lol
@David Miatke we all know what he meant, just sounded funny and wondering who else picked up on it lol 👍
It’s Wednesday you Missed the two stroke Tuesday ! Nice bike my friend had a red one.
Man this guy just doesn’t sell junk! I would buy a bike from him any day. I would be afraid to look at his price tag though lol.
Got a 1985 kdx80 bored to 85 very fun and rips the trails
Sweet ! Getting my 99 220 and myself ready for tough like rorr. Covid and other circumstances (wife) have left me 2.5 month behind , but should be a good time none the less. Team green.
I wished Covid had gotten rid of my old lady. You're lucky 😆
I bought one for 600 bucks in 92 best bike ever made
Nice bike. I had a 91 kdx200. Awesome trail bike.
Stunning
6speed gearbox on a skeleton frame and a 200cc beastly 2stroke!?! Insane!
Gorgeous kdx!
Have your dad do a video with plastic vampire teeth! What a beast! Cool family!
Now that's what I like simple and it will still kick ass
in a big way, i would love if they would bring back t kdx great bikes
Great bike, this is what I learned to ride on. Love to find one in good shape local.
Amazing bikes... long live the kdx
What a sweet bike!the 80s bikes rock!

#Teamgreen all day in America
Thay always sound like a sworm of bees. Great bike my buddy owned one and it was a beast
she's a beauty.
You're absolutely right I have a 2005 YZ125 and a 2015 YZ250 2-stroke and ride my 1991KDX 200 way more than I ride either one of the other bikes. I have also did pretty darn good on a motocross track
Amazing bike like always
New neat and seedles...nice. lol
Absolutely great bikes! 👍
Wish u guys were in Australia!!!
Had two of those,so much prettier than the later kdx sr etc in my opinion
I owned one. Same year. Awesome all around machine. Should never have sold it.
I have a 1988, would be great for a restoration project
What a bike
Awesome just bloody awesome. No more to be said.
I had one and loved it best woods bike ever!
I had one of those. I remember hauling ass and then it died, turns out the sleeve spun and the ports were covered. It was a great bike though.
I bought an 86 kdx in 1996 for 600 It was stolen Christmas day 96 . I saw it on Craigslist 2011. just a few towns from me in NJ. the same guy that stole it was trying to sell it. moral of the story never let a stranger ride your bike
I have a kdx 200 year 95 I think and I ran an honda xr 250 (2019) led to 290 with akrapovic and the strength of the 2t is impressive, I would not change it for anything :)
Whoever got this is so lucky cant find them anywhere in Australia Melbourne
Sir you look like mixed of Rambo and wolverine. Thank you 🙏
Beautiful!!!!!!
same year as my tecate 250
Killer bike as usual!!! Keep up the good work.
