@@RustySabita You can't go wrong with any song. My fave song from their latest album is Call Me a Symbol, Tati's lyrics are playing the role of a character with a huge ego which is the opposite of how she actually is. There's a note in the beginning about the Russian invasion, but the whole album was written before that happened. They haven't released any new music after that happened. Honestly, they don't have a bad song and they're all different. One thing to note is their early stuff from the Cloud Factory album and before was in drop C with two guitarists and was more groove metal-ish, they were trying to sound like Lamb of God and Chimera. From the King of Everything album and after was in drop A with just one guitarist and they added more timing / rhythm changes and became a bit heavier and darker.

@RustyReactions Judgement & Punishment would be a good one to do next. The vocal one take performance is the best one to check out for a first time reaction. The video for the song is good, but it kind of distracts from the song, because most people end up paying more attention to what's going on in the video than the actual song.

I discovered Jinjer (not usually a metal head) watching Elizabeth Zharoff's Channel "Charismatic Voice", and I fell in love instantly. Tatiana is a 1:1,000,000,000 superstar. I know there are a lot of screamers. But she is the total package. I sincerely think she is one of the very best front people ever...any genre. Commands your attention, and captivates you. Once I started listening to them more often I soon realized that the rest of the band was equally as special. They are really tight AF.
I can see you have "Teacher Teacher" queued up, and that is by far my favorite Jinjer song. And I'm sure you are getting plenty of recommendations. But a really unique song, that not too many people cover is a song called ""Retrospection". Not only is it a great song, but you get a tastes of Tati singing in her native Russia tongue. It's quite beautiful.

    • @RustySabita
      @RustySabita  Месяц назад +2

Its funny how some metalheads didcovered their taste. I always loved rap music (still do), but the mixture of rap/metal by Limp Bizkit streered me on the way down the metalhead rabbit hole. They have been exceptional band. I can't wait to add to start adding a lot more of their songs into my regular playlists.
I'll check out the song, too. Thank you for watching and commenting. Appreciate it so much 🙏🤘

Well, this unintentionally turned into a reaction recommendation for you. Jinjer' official live performance of Captain Clock at resurrection fest '18.

Didn't get the number, but I'm already subscribed.
This song is from the 2019 EP Micro.
Listed as metalcore but they switch genres within songs a lot, jazz reggae hip hop, some prog elements. You can call them mutli genre, or just awesome. Tati switches between cleans and harsh in most songs. Not sure what this song is, but I know they do use some drop A. Mentioned a few songs in the Pisces reaction, if you're like me and can't find the 'to do' list, try "Vortex", "Home Back", "Wallflowers", and "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev.
A few others to add. "Teacher Teacher", "Judgement (and Punishment)" vocal one take, "I Speak Astronomy", and "Who is Gonna Be the One" live.

I appreciate the sub. The number was 3. That's a lot to cover in a metal band. They hit the nail on the head with these two songs. Cleans and Harsh? I'll remember that terminology. I got those in my list. Teacher Teacher is read to drop 10pm Friday. Those others I got marked down as well. We'll get to them for sure! Thanks for watching and commenting, my dude! 🙏🤘

As we know Tatiana wasn't inspired by Angela Gossow's harsh vocal.
Her first inspiration was Otep Shamaya (the first female with harsh vocal Tatiana heard).
But her main inspiration was... Randy Blythe :) Tatiana inititaly learned to sound like a man when she uses the harsh vocal, particulary like Randy.
You can check out her live cover of Lamb of God's "Laid To Rest". There're actually few versions - several different old performances by Jinjer and most recent by Tatiana with various musicians (including her husband drummer Alex Lopez).

This is where we go down the well-known Jinjer rabbit hole path with this song like millions of others... I discovered it for the first time in 2012 live Jinjer in Bulgaria on a small stage! And nothing against other bands from the heavy metal genre and especially with a female front woman & singer, but it's about the range, versatility of techniques, voice, extremely deep, clean grunting for a woman like no other can, being able to sing other genres vocally like RnB, hip hop rapping, pop, blues, reggae combined with their own Jinjer Metal styles from earlier metalcore, trash metal, nu metal and other types of metal - hard rock, all mixed! And the strawberry on top is the absolutely unique unicorn 🦄 and powerhouse bad 🍑 girl Tatjana who simply leaves everyone speechless live! The entire band, Roman, Eugene and Vlad are absolute masters of their instruments and have mastered the craft of music, instrument etc. perfectly without like other bands Unfortunately.... Spirit..... Computer generated sound and effects, support of software the bass, The guitar and drums only play a little bit on stage, the rest is all played back from the computer studio data, that's a joke at a live concert! Not with Jinjer, they play everything live, sometimes even better than in the studio... Here are some links of all the songs in order in various versions!!!

I didn't take into account all collabrations between the band Jinjer and Tatjana with other artists & bands with live performances or music videos or Tatjana at Videogames!
As an example, Hello Death as a single from April 2022, or with O.P.C !
The order compiled here is not 100% arranged like the album playlist, because sometimes there are no music videos, or they are not good enough quality for me to list here! I started adding to the list, step by step a few years ago with the available songs, qualities and release dates. I'll probably add to the list next year, i.e. more likely at the end / autumn of 2024 when Jinjer starts in the studio with the planned new album!

Tati writes incredible, thoughtful lyrics. Just a suggestion, you might want to pull them up and review them either during or after the song. Often times they are beautiful poems on their own. This one specifically is her comparing her seasonal affective disorder that she suffers from with the way nature prepares itself for winter. It's really quite nice.

I've been doing that afterwards. I'm just not always sure during a reaction, so I don't want to keep stopping and starting. Might be annoying for you all. I checked out the Pisces lyrics, and with the swing in cleans and harshes representing each side of picses, it is very clever.

Usually when the band is asked what kind of music they do they just say "we play heavy music". That probably drives the marketing people nuts but that's one of the reasons I love this band. Personally I hate that metal at this point has 30+ genres/sub-genres some of them with one band in them. Being older than the average modern metal fan I remember when it was just "metal" and a bunch of bands that tried their best to be unique. Jinjer isn't shy with their influences even if those influences aren't metal (like reggae). If they got put in a genre box and then strayed outside of that box all the whiny metal gatekeepers would have a fit because it wasn't in that box. They wouldn't be doing songs like Pisces or Judgement and Punishment or Home Back just to name a few.
Tatiana learned her technique when she heard Otep and Lamb of God among a few others. The very first songs they put out she sounded much more like Alisa from Arch Enemy. Over time she got better and better at getting lower with her harsh vocals. The lowest I think I've heard her go is in the live version of Pit of Consciousness (live in Kyiv). I don't think she ever sings a song the same way twice so other versions of that song are going to be different.
Most of their songs are either in drop C or drop A. I'm not much of a guitar player so I don't know much more than that about it. Some good balls to the wall songs from them would be Sit Stay Roll Over, A Plus or Minus, No Hoard of Value, Captain Clock, Mediator. More proggy or complex might be I Speak Astronomy, Home Back, Vortex, Wallflower, Judgement and Punishment.

That's a good conversation to have about genres. There are a lot of subgenres in metal these days for sure. Something that has been around for so long is inevitably going to have its spinoff. I guess some sub genres are justified, but I agree that if they're heavy like this, then it should just be under one banner of subgenre. Killswitch, Jinjer, Slipknot all got their own style, but they're all simply heavy metal to me. I'll check out the lamb of God cover for sure. All those Jinjer songs as well, I'll be sure to listen to here.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Appreciate it 🙏🤘

@@RustySabita I'm pretty sure their web site describes their genre as 'progressive groove metal'.
Given that 'progressive' covers a lot of different characteristics being or not being present in any specific song, I think it is broad enough to suit them.

You've heard 2 song with a lot of similarities, but they have a lot of songs very different. I do not agree when you say tatiana sound like Angela. @@RustySabita off hand I cannot. But it’s in reference to the complex, often constantly changing time signatures. A lot of 7/8 and 11/12 time signatures and polyrhythmic drumming. You see it a lot in Eastern European metal bands.
But they also have so many different styles. Songs like “Who is gonna be the one” is a clear hardcore song. Where as “Teacher Teacher” is more progressive metal/djent.
