@@DanaHowlis hattapoint cheaper than legion
A full Army inn legion in 800
@@ChosenOne-il4bmit’s not $800 for a full army 🤔 I think you are being ripped off, I bought every rebel model for less than $500 and you don’t need to do that
So Disneys Lackluster approach is health Support? 😂
Love your non Warhammer content. You seem much happier doing Star Wars and D&D content.
That's cause I am :) :) :)
comapred to legion
is this game cheap
ypu just control two units and not a whole army@@DanaHowl
I'm working on Shatterpoint and your video made me reconsider my decision for box art. Thanks for the motivation to think outside the box! Always great content, Dana.
Honestly buying EVERYTHING from Shatterpoint is something I wanted to do very much, too.
And gosh, this cyan-magenta midtone with a semi-transparent coat of paint looks great!
Will wait for new series😊
love this format and it gives a good sense of how painting actually takes aaaaaages
Agreed, it's nice to see other people have lives & they aren't magically sitting down for 12 hours and banging out complete armies every other weekend
Ah yes my new comfort project to watch while I paint 😍
I also went out and did the same, minus the dice and range rulers. Having played, I'm considering at least one more High Ground terrain pack as well - and then the pre-order announcements for next month's releases. Looks like I found the slippery slope!
Just specifically so I can live Shatterpoint vicariously through a creator whose content I enjoy a lot?
If so, mission accomplished, thank you very much.
I like this vlog format. Looking forward to the next ep. Good luck with the move
Thanks!!!!
i got all the sets too. now, will i get them opened and painted? who knows. collect them all.
Love this Vlog style. Great insight on the paint scheme and techniques.
Thanks so much! It was much more fun to make than a regular ol' tutorial vid!
Love the video diary format
Really excited for this project Dana and am totally on board with the Coruscant undercity vibe. I'm working on cyberpunk terrain myself at the moment so will certainly be looking to mine all your good ideas. In terms of additional scenery Uncertain Scenery does some awesome multi-level modular boards called Far Away which give a great Star Wars vibe. They even do those double shutter diagonal doors as an add-on. I can imagine rigging them with LEDs would be quite easy too. Keep up the amazing work and good luck with the house move.
Very cool, I've have to check out Uncertain Scenery!
Oooo, you should do show us how you end up doing those LED light up bunkers
I definitely will!
This is great, I can't wait for the next vid!
This is a crazy thing to attempt, especially right before a move! Nice stuff.
HAHA yes well I dont have a lot of common sense we'll see how close to the goal I get!
If anyone can do it, you can :)
Soooo stoked to see you doing Shatterpoint content. It's my first wargame and I'm a little intimidated now that I've got everything assembled, but excited to learn!
Enjoy! I think it's a great game to start with!
Good to see something other then GW stuff. I know GW is popular and a RUclipsrs bread and butter but showing some love to other games is rad. Keep it up.😂
Agreed! I like GW stuff but it's always nice to take a break to investigate new games!!!
Wish I could come play with you!
aaand the idea for the undercity terrain is also very cool
They look so goooood! Excellent work as always 💜
I would love to see more Shatterpoint stuff. It's good to see a hobby miniature painter RUclipsr who is equally as excited as I am with this game. I can't say I see many that are.
I’ve played this about 10 times now. I absolutely love it. It’s so different. The scoring is amazing. The objective fighting and knocking back is so cool. The fact it almost all your minis. You work so hard. Stay on the board is awesome.
Great call on the terrain. Tatooine is so overused in Star Wars. I've been running an old school west end games Star Wars campaign for nearly a year now, and I super want to start introducing some terrain and minis. I did make a model of the star system the game takes place in, which turned out rad and has been more useful than I thought it was going to be.
I've made a sports arena out of a dollar store beyblade arena, and that turned out pretty fun too. Used some old Spinjas (s'up 80s kids?) so my players could simulate a sporting event in the arena. I've been thinking of using the old micro machines minifigs for the game. I like the scale, they're considerably smaller than standard ttrpg minis, but it makes it easier to have ships and terrain feel properly scaled while not overwhelming the table. The downside is I'm limited to what they made back in the day.
I'll be looking forward to watching you work through the Shatterpoint line :)
Loving the rough brush pattern effects. Really does give the animation art effect.
Also. Little droid ears 🥹
Been missing the old extraness of your editing BUT i fully understand wanting to give time and attention to actual good content instead of VCR clips of horses and things of that nature.
But i miss them sometimes.
These are looking great! Can't wait to see the rest
Thanks so much!!! Ive got a few more painted since then and I'll make more vids about it soon!
Really interested in following this. I got the core set to review, so I've started thinking about how I'm gonna paint em!
Kind of shocked you're not railing against how anti-consumerist this product is.
Games Workshop is not the only company capable of ripping people off (though they are masterful at it).
For starters, the prices of the miniatures are exorbitant. A pack of four Shatterpoint miniatures retails for $50 which is something like $13 per space marine sized model. . Even space marines are cheaper than that, with the retail price of a Primaris Marine being less than $7 as a box of 10 is $65 (I am not defending GW's prices as they are already gouging, making Asmodee's price structure even worse).
The proprietary cards, dice, and measuring sticks.
All of these only exist to make you buy Shatterpoint miniatures and not use 3D prints or existing Star Wars miniatures to play the game. No game needs proprietary accessories, and removing them from most games would have no impact on game play.
The company is also price gouging with what they charge for these accessories. A pack of 14 dice costs $15, about 10 times what similarly sized six sided dice are easily bought for.
I know you like to highlight smaller companies, but Asmodee is not one of them. Like Fantasy Flight before them, they are easily as anti-consumer as Games Workshop, having mastered the proprietary accessory sales gimmick long before GW did.
I'm not sure how you can celebrate skirmish games that cost less than $50 to play and at the same time celebrate a game like this that costs almost $170 to even get a foot in the door. This easily puts even the starter set at being more per miniature than a lot of GW products, and GW is already gouging their customers.
@@paladinpariah325 I'm reviewing it on the channel.
@@DiscourseMinis
I really hope you look at it with the same critical eye you look at GW stuff with. Your analysis of GW's horrendous business practices is always incredibly insightful and it would be great for you to turn that insight onto other anti-consumerist companies like Atomic Mass Games and Asmodee.
Yes I would like to see more of this! I’ve been working on my own core set so seeing someone else working on it will serve as motivation and inspiration.
Can’t wait to see more!
I love that you went with the style of the animated series! I only recently watched all of the SW series so great timing 😂 Looking forward to seeing more of these ❤
Those models look really nice.
Awesome vlog. Love the two tone gradient. Looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work.
I'm glad you made this video! Helps me stay motivated with getting all of my Shatterpoint stuff completed! Thank you!!
Love this new “journal” format!
Excited for this series! Especially looking forward to seeing how the LEDs look in the terrain, enjoyed the format a lot, and am always interested to get more painting details (when possible… moving is rough).
Aaaah, this is so awesome! Great channel, and keep having fun!
Painting the droids myself and all of the terrain, going for a swampy theme. Vines/mushrooms/moss growing on the buildings etc.
Can't wait for the next shatterpoint paint video, also love that you are using speedpaint 2.0 for these!
I do enjoy this format)
Also, it's always to see someone diving into the same game as myself =)
Thanks!!! Yeah it was a much more fun video to make than say, a simple painting guide!!! I'll try and do more in this format going forward :)
Like the vlog format, excited to see the outcome on this project!
Thanks so much!!! Me too!
@@DanaHowl I really hope you'll do a video on painting Ewoks whenever they get released! 🧸
@@digitalwastrel Oh definitely! I hope to!!!!
This is awesome! Can't wait for more Shatterpoint videos!
I'm glad to see you're taking a different approach, especially with the terrain (the Coruscant undercity is a brilliant idea), and I'm looking forward to more content for Shatterpoint. It's wonderful to hear how enthusiastic you are (one of the reasons I like the channel so much). Do you have any intention to do videos for the D&D Frameworks line?
They look fantastic! Nicely done
Hell yeah, Dana! Can't wait to see it all come together.
Thanks Mountainside!!! I'm really diggin your battle reports on it!!!
Can't wait for the rest of the shatterpoint vids to come out, amazing job! Plus the game looks so damn good and fun, can't wait to play it myself
Another great video, looking forward to the completion of this wonderful starter set.👍🏻🙂
This is all so cool! Would love to see more videos on this
Loved seeing your hair up. It looks so good!
I absolutely loved this video. Well done and cant wait to watch more 😊
That underpainting/preshading looks amazing! ❤
yay Dana! Great job, you motivate me to start projects and grab some dusty boxes with plastic inside. I cant wait to use some new speed paints
Amazing stuff! I wish I was this quick at batch painting
Nice. Collecting things is fun.
Nice vid Dana. Loved the undertones (they worked really well as a colour scheme on their own)
Also that is such an excellent idea for the terrain. Really looking forward to see how it turns out :)
As for the releases as they come out, that is an ambitious plan but doable. Good luck!
Thanks so much!!! Hahahaha yup its a bit ambitious, we'll see if I make the deadline!!!
This is looking great! The pink to blue gradient is so cool, definitely gotta try that. 😊
Thanks so much CC!!! yeah its a fun one!!
hell yeah this is exactly my type of content dana! :D
EXCELLENT! this is more the kind of content I like to watch, so I'm glad you like it!
I found a 3d printed top for the ladders that let them sit in the same rut as the gantries. It's preferable to gluing them for me since they have a gameplay meaning to them.
Can you tell me what they are called! I'd love to get a set!
@@DanaHowl search thingiverse for shatterpoint ladder hooks!
I’d love to see more detailed videos on the characters. Also would REALLY see how you pull off the Coruscant themed terrain
Great video! Keen to see more
With this Project under your belt you have a new Subscriber ❤
Great video. Well done!
the battledroids look PERFECT
Loved the format! Wanna see more
Thanks Andy!!! It was a lot of fun making this format and I plan to do more!
Just found your channel , and now I want the next video
Thank you!!!!
Looking forward to your terrain videos for this game.
These look great!
im so glad the droid antennae are joined lol im sure theyd snap right off otherwise
agreed
I'm really happy to see someone else is going for a non-tatooine style look for scenery. I'm going for a Madalore look from the end of the Clone Wars period for my palette and planning. I'm also already debating buying more terrain (I picked up both of the optional terrain boxes on launch) to help give a few more levels of height to the board.
Good stuff , liked and subbed... loved the format, presentation , etc... looking forward to seeing the minis as you get more painted...
Ive kinda fell away from minis gaming again, but really do wanna start playing some games with the collections I have... going to try some OPR stuff.
This game does have me much more interested than SW Legion did, I may have to get into this if any other locals pick it up...
watching with interest - I have already cut/dremelled out all my base set and high ground major building "grates" to allow less to shine up through them. And Ive drilled a few holes for lighting near doors, control panels and lights. The corner lights do look tricky though so I am not sure if I will attempt those. Im looking at one small screen as a light but dont have sa good solution for the screens yet so leaving the others. For the high ground major piece Ive drilled out for 5 lights to shine up the higher ladder area to illuminate the tower. WIP. Looking forward to see what and how you do things.
A long long time ago, in a paint studio far away..
Episode 93.1k: Contrast on Coruscant!
Dana Howl -- Emissary of the great Hobby Streak Planet -- committed to a massive project on the eve of a massive life change. The fans in the star system rejoiced. But a question lingered -- how would the Federation of Real Life Obligations react?
Great video! Minis looking great! Good luck with the move!
This looks fantastic 🎉
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
this was v cool. i would love to see more
Awesome video!
The battle droids look fantastic.
Great work Dana, as always. I am gonna break open my Shatterpoint box one day soon. I promise.
Collectorbrain is very relatable!
In miniatures I'm absolutely in that state with Riot Quest - admittedly a bit less daunting now that the game seems to be finished with releases
Aristeia does the same thing with including every language of cards, it's neat for potential proxying
OMG good idea, I could make proxies with the cards!!!
Best Ideas on Painting ive seen so far and i watched a loooot of painting videos for Shatterpoint. I like the Mix of accesebility for Paint noobs like me paired with some huge "pro moves" and thoughts about painting like the show. Damn. I have to repaint part of my clones now :D
Been really enjoying the game play, but painting these minis was a blast 🎉
Same OMG these have been such a joy to paint!!!
great video !inspired me for painting
Excited for this series. If there's someone that could pull of a neon undercity I think it's you! My box should be here tomorrow, so I'll be following this vlog closely.
reminds me of the vaporwave city I painted- dark blue as base, then green and pink sprayed on opposite sides, OSR-like.
I got hooked on Shatterpoint recently and flew through painting my first 3 squads, nice to see your non-warhammer stuff :) Im trying not to buy everything for shatterpoint but its a losing battle lol im already waiting for the next wave with Vader and his Stormtroopers I havent painted a Vader in ages since Legion. I love how each set has a cool quote from the main character of the box in it
Love your idea of painting terrain in a Coruscant underworld vibe, my mind goes right to that neon vibe and makes me think of Old Republic
I was in love with Speed Paint 1.0 and I find the new formula unsatisfying to work with. I'm excited to try out using it with the wet pallet, thanks for the idea!
Maybe just add some retarder medium then 🤔...
Oh man they look awesome. I would be terrified to spray them with blue/pink! I'm not a fan of other light source for the most part (maybe in a diorama). Anyways, looking forwards to see the terrain painted
When are they gonna do Revan and Tulak Hord minis. Maybe a Darth Kreia. And they have to do a Dashade.
Do it for yourself. As someone who gets little recognition of my painting of my hobby stuff, I just have to keep moving forward.
Someday when your situation stabilizes post move I would love to see a second visit to this set.
I was sold when I heard asajj ventress comes in the core
Thanks for helping get me into mcp
Great video and these are some really nice tips for painting. I have zero interest in shatterpoint beyond the models (I despise AMG), and your technique on the clones and battledroids is very, very cool I will be following this project closely.
i'm considering getting Shatterpoint, looks like a fun game and the minis look really good and I like the larger scale. Though one thing bothers me, in the upcoming kit "Plans and Preparation" they include Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and padawn Barriss Offee, okay cool I guess, BUT for some reason they decided to only include TWO clone commandos! Why do that when the lore clearly states that the clone commandos are "one piece of a whole person"? When a commando squad lost a brother they became a lot less effective, even if they got a replacement it still was like a part of the whole was missing.
I mean, same with things like the droids and clones, they are typically deployed in larger numbers!
The way I like to think of this game is that it's a "zoomed in" part of a larger battle, just the most important/narrative parts, the other clones are just offscreen fighting the larger battle
Don’t glue the ladder’s on, there are 3d printed clips that you can get so the ladders can be removed
Thanks for the tip!!! I will have to look that up!!! Do you know what it's called?
Nice battle driods. "Roger, Roger".
Fantastic stuff Dana! Loving Shatterpoint so far. Beautiful models, and such a fun gameplay loop. Still have SO much painting to do, but watching this has certainly help to fire up the inspiration to get more paint on my figures! Good luck with the rest of your Shatterpoint project, will be waiting excitedly for part 2!
Another great video, Do you varnish? If you do, what one do you use? Thanks
That’s an awesome Morai model, did that come in one of the boxes?
is this game still active im trying to buy the dice but I never can find a second hand seller
I also found the battle droids to be super fiddly and thin. But these minis are beautiful. I too am collecting one of each 🎉
