sweet girl, but spooky...why is everyone so thrilled about her dancing? is it enough just to ass about, smile and enjoy oneself to be a good ns dancer? really? then you must love the lady from blackpool 2007...epic!lol ...the young lad is a well-deserved winner, as he feels the music & has brilliant moves. always a pleasure to watch him dance
60s Again// found your title of interest, were you around in the Soulful 60s ? I doubt it, of the three dancers, the Girl was the best,if you check,all the posts on the last 3 dancers, you will find that most posts express just that! Ass about? Smile? and enjoy yourself?Ass about? meaning what? Smile, no,dance about like your in the ring, [or a dogo] ready to fight,or in pain.Enjoy yourself? no, look miserable,and don't like the Music.As i've posted before,a really good Soul dancer,would be picking up the Singers feeling[mood] and like the Singer proberly would,expressing oneself[the only way We can compete with the singer [if His/Her voice is good enough]this means, instead of all the usual moves[time &time again]every time you really feel what the Singer feels, you dance different,real soul dance is Smooth, and Fluid,with what is so easily missing,IMAGINATION,the key missing ingredient!!!

I was about twenty feet away from the dancers on Saturday and I agree with other posters in that the girl was the best of the three (sorry Aaron). Maybe it’s NS evolution but I remember the dance competitions from the 70’s when Caesar from Leeds, Janie from the Midlands, Dave from Manchester who either won or came close at Wigan could all keep to the beat rather than simply demonstrate gymnastics - or maybe it’s just me getting old LOL!. Luckily for the winner, his mate, (Stephen Cootes?) was one of the judges.
Girl a good dancer, did she win ? See so many who can spin & do a few tricks but don't actually do anything in time with the music and their general "dancing" while building up to a spin is also pretty poor and not in time with the music ! Not normally this picky & would never knock anyone having a bash at n/s nights as it's all about enjoying yourself, not necessarily being the best dancer...... but this is a competition 😊
hi Richard Jon, thanks for the quick response, had to react, as you captured Her facial expressions, and movements generally!! Round about 06 throught to 025, and following the Karate kicks[unnecessary] 1.42 to 1.50,She for Me,was the clear winner,
Ian Black,no She lost,[Why??] the winner was the guy in the vest,doing the spinning [like a top] and hopping about generally. This style,seems to be exactly what N/S is all about, Feet movement,been checking, and even in a crowd, filmed from a distance, can often identify a particular dancer,as the dancing is exactly what was done in earlier posts.Agree about the lack of following the music, which is exactly what dance is really about!! feeling from the superb musicians.
A good spin (or any athletic move) at the right time does look good, can be over done though. I always think you can tell when a dancer is actually listening to the music by the way they're moving. There is a big lad called Jon who has clips on here & when he goes into a spin it looks like part of the dance, seen him a the winter gardens earlier this year, & recognise the lad in the vest as he was there spinning then. There were some brilliant dancers to watch but they obviously don't enter competitions. As I said earlier I'm only commenting as this is is a competition, I really dislike the bitching on here at people just enjoying a Weekender or night out. And well done to the winner 😊
Hi Ian, fairly sure the Jon you mention,is Jon Moss, He is fairly easy to spot,same dance,and is actually on an earlier post[by Helen Jones]top right of Film, red and black clothes.He won the last competition, and there are quite a few posts,some by Him to view! Agree with your listening to the Singer, but also imagine them doing it,can't match the Singing,but can feel what they do,and compete with the presentation of the song,this means that every time you dance,you are dancing how you feel, rather than the same dance every time,check any particular dancer, and most times it is possible to predict the next move.There is one post,where the Guy is worthy of mention,He can really dance a gathering of Him in action, at different venues,His name is James Whitehead, will check now I've got the name right,if so, will leave it there,if not,will post a correction.

Knew Caesar from Leeds Central & Wigan back in the day, none of these dancing here would have even got in the top 10 of a Wigan dance off.
