    The pentatonic scale is probably the most famous guitar scale. In this guitar lesson, I'm going to show you how to connect all five pentatonic scale positions with one simple pathway. This will allow you to move freely between each of the five positions while soloing and improvising. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below. Thanks for watching!

    Lightbulb moment, I've been noodling around with this horizontal scale for a while now and always jump off at position 5. I hadn't until this video realized (I don't know why) that this maps to all 5 positions, so obvious! Clouds clear and the sun shines through.💡

    I was taught this by my first guitar teacher over 20 years ago.
    You presented this very well.
    Plus you explained it in detail, making this easy to grasp.
    Thank you.

      @@andrewclarkeguitar you can do that with any key....just start on the root note if the low E string and do the same formula?

    This is the basis for the diagonal pentatonic concept - very well and clearly explained Andrew. BTW got your ear training course - it's very good. It provides a solid foundation for this essential skill needed by all guitarists/musicians. Highly recommend.

    This is absolutely fantastic. Beginners today have access to so much great content to make the journey easier. Really handy tip here. What would have made it even better would be if you had showed an example on how to use this pathway for a different key other Am/C. Meaning for example if your position or scale 1 was instead under B instead of under A. So position 1 at B minor. You didn't have to show the whole thing again. Just show how to use it or adapt it to a different key.

    Can these pentatonic scale positions be adjusted to play in all keys?

    • @andrewclarkeguitar
      @andrewclarkeguitar  3 месяца назад

      Yes! You just shift the shapes up or down the fretboard. Nothing about the shapes change. :)
