The fact that I see another artist struggling with the same problems as I do gives me courage to go on. Thank you for having the courage to share the process with all its imperfections.
Honestly, for RUclips videos I enjoy things like these. Other artists speaking of their artworks, whether is a challenge, a problem on the road or simply the thing behind the artwork like the meanig. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for making this video. The information you provided us viewers with is invaluable and I like the way you record your videos. I don’t think it needs to be changed. I think you put as much effort into to them as your painting. I’m so ready for the upcoming videos and I think your decision to make those videos are much needed. Please continue to do what you do.
YO i never clocked that im not ever looking at people in public in crazy detail but at their face shape and shadows and stuff, thats gonna help me so much omg
I have 0 complaints about your content or format and tbh I like the mic as is. I NEED the making a frame/stretching canvas vid desperately so your next ideas sound dope
Looove this- I’ve recently started really embracing this- if it doesn’t work start again- practice and I’m SO much happier taking everything as an opportunity to learn and work out things then fighting with it forever. Thanks for sharing! ❤
Loved this one ! Definitely one of my favourite videos of yours. It's great to see a painting process video, including the blocking out the shapes digitally, the sped up painting, the starting over... Would love more vids like this !
Great insight into your painting style. Not many people can capture the feelings you get during the middle stages and last minute decisions in a painting like you can. It's kind of comforting in a way. If you're feel the same way i'm feeling in the middle of a painting then something must be going right --in a way. Thanks
I loved this video & will definitely try to adopt your instruction re NOT overinvesting in a painting early in the process and working in general shapes in layers.
I relate a lot to the part where you said we can get attached to certain shapes if we leave them too long. I’ve recently been struggling a lot with my art process feeling too rigid and restrictive; stuck in old habits. I really appreciate the video. Keep it up, man.
i love these videos so much. im a painting student and getting to look at your process is genuinely invaluable. you make art so much more achievable and familiar.
Great advice, stay loose and unattached... I'm working on my graduate project and have been feeling really blocked, but you are right, we need to stay loose. Thanks, I really admire your work.
Its so interesting how we as artists will be making something and we KNOW it looks off but someone else will be looking at our piece and be like "It looks incredible!" Like when you decided to scrape off the paint and redo the composition more closer I was like WHAT NO IT LOOKS GREAT LOL but then you finished the second version and it was even more great. I always look forward to your videos. And your editing is good!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Can you explain creating value using the inherent nature of colours? Also how to know what the colour of the shadow is going to be used and really clarify the warm and cool shadow theory. Thank you
Another really good video. I always come away feeling like I have learned something, in this case your blocking in process. In the future I would like to see videos on transitions from shadow to lights and blending.
I have found the same thing. If I do an under painting it ends up jizzless as hell. If I don’t they have other issues but that’s another matter. My whole life I tried to paint realistically, now I’m trying to dial’er back just enough that it’s interesting but still a good likeness
Great video! The computer demo for the blockin was super helpful. In a future video can you talk more about brush work? I struggle with over working and turning everything into mud. Also perspective of the face is a challenge for me. Thank you
would love a video focusing on how you see color, as I am very drawn to the color palettes you create as well as your ability to both take colors from reference and also stray from reference when its needed to enhance a piece
It's helpful to be reminded that every fuck up is valuable and not a waste of time, as long as you learned from that fuck up. I've been learning a lot lately, from my fuck ups and videos like yours.
thank you for your videos, i'm a beginner drawing and i have some questions. for me, my struggle mostly is getting stuck, or rather swamped in the middle of a painting or drawing. so for me its like this. say, that the first blocking of the painting is '1' and then the next blocking is '2' and the last detail is '10' for instance, then i would start with 1 -> 2 -> 3 maybe to 4 and then, i question myself if my 4 is ok and i can go to 5 or should i go back to 2 and do that again. and from there i go 1->2->3->4->3->2->3->4->3-> and cant progress to 5. so my question is this. if im stuck in the middle like this, would it be better to just progress through 5->6->7 and on even though im not confident about my 4? or should i redo it over until i get comfortable with my 4 ?
Cool video! Can you talk about linseed oil? I just started oil painting and have no idea what it's for. I only use Gamsol to thin, and then the thickest my paint gets is right out of the tube. What does linseed oil have to do with it all?
bro just some unsolicted $0.02: you gotta put clickable links in your decription and make it easy for people. you can set it as an upload default (im sure you already use this) to have it pre-filled out so you only have to do it once, just have to edit them with the

Same
make it 4 artist! me too
As a beginner painter I almost choked when you erase everything and It really helped me recognize that I need to chill when I paint

I’m an acrylic painter, I haven’t used oils before (I plan to tho) and I still feel like I’m gaining so much information through your process videos

So inspiring! And watching you redo is very comforting for us amateurs😅love your paintings subjects so much too ❤

Love this, thanks for sharing. How about a video on color and temperature?
Great Video, Great painting!

So i wanted to know where do you usually find references to paint?
Finally! keep up the good work🙏🔥🔥✌️
Absolutely love your videos and work !!!!!! so so informative and inspiring

Stop wasting your time, trace the reference on the canvas.
