The fact that I see another artist struggling with the same problems as I do gives me courage to go on. Thank you for having the courage to share the process with all its imperfections.

Honestly, for RUclips videos I enjoy things like these. Other artists speaking of their artworks, whether is a challenge, a problem on the road or simply the thing behind the artwork like the meanig. Keep it up!

Just go for it that’s what I did. At the beginning I would base out my painting shapes with acrylic and then do oil on top. Now I just do oil sometimes I’ll do acrylic first when I paint sky’s because I do drips and other things I want to dry fast .

Half a year ago I was drawing with oil pastels - there was a composition in which there were faces, not very large. I finished the portrait by painting the eyes and their details - so, in order to put just two dark dots with crayons, which would be the pupils - it took a whole day, more than 8 hours)
You learn, through such difficult and not obviously difficult things

Thank you so much for making this video. The information you provided us viewers with is invaluable and I like the way you record your videos. I don’t think it needs to be changed. I think you put as much effort into to them as your painting. I’m so ready for the upcoming videos and I think your decision to make those videos are much needed. Please continue to do what you do.

Great insight into your painting style. Not many people can capture the feelings you get during the middle stages and last minute decisions in a painting like you can. It's kind of comforting in a way. If you're feel the same way i'm feeling in the middle of a painting then something must be going right --in a way.
    Thanks

This was very helpful, thank you! I'd love to see you make a video about how you come up with subject concepts for your work. How do you choose what to paint? Is there a story or message you are intentionally communicating with your art, or is it more intuitive?

Its so interesting how we as artists will be making something and we KNOW it looks off but someone else will be looking at our piece and be like "It looks incredible!" Like when you decided to scrape off the paint and redo the composition more closer I was like WHAT NO IT LOOKS GREAT LOL but then you finished the second version and it was even more great. I always look forward to your videos. And your editing is good!

I have found the same thing.
If I do an under painting it ends up jizzless as hell.
If I don’t they have other issues but that’s another matter.
My whole life I tried to paint realistically, now I’m trying to dial’er back just enough that it’s interesting but still a good likeness

I just don't know nothing about digital proces, combination goes from head on sketch book, difrent combos, ilustration like old masters Frank Frazzeta, but Caravaggio and Rembrandt,Paul Rubens's i like that i love that shadows and dramatic efect, all i use in all... This is Spanish for me all with pc and digital prework.Regards with respect.Art is simply thing over years.but il like old way.

So i wanted to know where do you usually find references to paint?

    • @livvlife
      @livvlife Месяц назад

Most artists make their own so they can create a completely original piece.
You could also combine photos and other photos you find to create a reference and change it as you paint to create something original.
If you aren’t concerned with making something original but wanna practice, the site “line of action” is perfect for artists finding references.
      I hope this helps!

thank you for your videos, i'm a beginner drawing and i have some questions. for me, my struggle mostly is getting stuck, or rather swamped in the middle of a painting or drawing. so for me its like this. say, that the first blocking of the painting is '1' and then the next blocking is '2' and the last detail is '10' for instance, then i would start with 1 -> 2 -> 3 maybe to 4 and then, i question myself if my 4 is ok and i can go to 5 or should i go back to 2 and do that again. and from there i go 1->2->3->4->3->2->3->4->3-> and cant progress to 5. so my question is this. if im stuck in the middle like this, would it be better to just progress through 5->6->7 and on even though im not confident about my 4? or should i redo it over until i get comfortable with my 4 ?

The way you began your study and your brute force approach made me cringe. However, the end result is truly impressive. For some reason, the final resulting portrait study immediately made me think of two paintings by Augustus John: his portrait of the poet Dylan Thomas and that of his son Robin.
