That leadout from Laporte was really solid. He was definitely a five-star signing for Jumbo-Visma. It even looks like he's having fun in his role on their team! I think Wout waited a just moment too long to come off of Laporte's wheel. It looked like Laporte had already started to lose steam when Wout finally opened up the sprint and that may have cost Wout just that little bit of momentum.
WVA does classics, sprints, semi mountains, lead out... he cant do it all. You always loose against an Elitesprinter if he does it right and has a tiny leadout...
@@Petazzi1 but then again, this guy won a time trial the day before and was well present in the mountains too with Ventoux and Andorra. So nevermind my previous comment actually haha, this guy is unbelievable
EXCELLENT analysis of the leadout situation with Quickstep man trying to block Laporte/Jumbo. I wonder if there should be a discussion about banning this behaviour, it coulda led to a mass crash at high speed.
This banning mentality has to stop, if he caused a crash he would be relegated. But this is a bike race, and unlike F1 it won't be decided by bans and penaltys
@@cecio7453 Relegation of lead out man is actually no punishment at all. This is bike race and it shouldnt be decided by dirty riding but by good strategy and quality. I dislike banning aero positions...but in this case its only dangerous and dirty manoeuvre.
I love to see how data-savvy Van Aert is, immediately stopping the activity on his Garmin as he crosses the finish line. Props to Jakobsen, that sprint was class.
The parcours is not really the TDF's problem, its the bigger teams, the higher stakes and the more nervous riders. Plus Paris-Nice and the TDF are organised by the same organisation
Please make a video recapping Nairoman’s glorious win of 2022 Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var. We need the final stage and some epic edits of the absolute legend taking the victory. Also I’m willing to sell all my worldly possessions and join a cult if Nairoman will be our fearless leader, perhaps start the ball rolling on that??
@@LanterneRougeCycling okay not bad. But perhaps next time more intense orchestral music mixed with the legendary Colombian commentator screaming Nairoman Nairoman in the background? Thank you LR, your vids have been progressing from really good to absolutely amazing in the last couple of years. Thank you for this regular, interesting, fun and professional content. This is better than any news channel can ever do.
I love that Quintana is good in the crosswinds now. It shows much of the skill with crosswinds is just being alert as he used to get caught out alot (TdF stage 2 in 2015 possibly lost him the tour as he lost 90 seconds on a flat stage!)
@@cesarbarroso7225 Yeah, that's probably a fair point. Perhaps I'm being unfair due to the occasions being in big situations. For example another was the year after Froome- Sagan breakaway stage (while loads of riders got caught out, he was hugely out of position so literally a sitting duck).
Jakobsen is Dutch, hew grew up cycling to school in crosswinds, like almost all Dutch people do. I think that mentality translates very well in to the whole Jumbo - Visma team, I'm quite sure they even look for those kind of traits in new riders
Don't think he made that up, I think it's a joke since the Vuelta 2020, when he was wearing the green jersey (and was joked when he wore a red jacket on top of a green jersey or sth when he owned both the jerseys)
Never been this early on a LR video :O If TJV can keep this level of riding up all week, they're going to dominate this race. Probably even gained GC time today maybe, if the other groups didn't catch up fully?
I still don't know how LR didn't rate Jakobsen higher in his sprinting tier list a couple of weeks ago. Yes Caleb Ewan is the best, but number two has to be Jakobsen for me. Racking up win after win, making it look effortless half the time
What is up with Wouts redbull helmet... love redbull and wout but not sure I am a fan. Hes a "special" rider for sure, but dont know if I love to see him broadcasting it on his dome
I do like Wout, but i dont like that he can seem to do anything and everything he wants. So when i comes to the sprints, i like seeing the 'pure' sprinters beat him.
Me reading "Jumbo-Visma Train Blows Race Apart" ... Thinks "why did LR repost the stage 1 review?" lol

Jakobsen showing he is the best sprinter around....what a display of power in those last 150 meters!!!
