    Even for non-Tesla owners who won't experience being behind the wheel, this is a big demonstration of Tesla's confidence in the software. "Millions of Teslas trying FSD across the country all at once during this month long promotion, and the world didn't end?" This could change minds.

    $200 per month is still a lot of money for the convenance of "not driving" a vehicle when you are still in the seat and expected to be alert. For comparison this is almost the car payment for an econobox. You are essentially paying to risk help them improve the software which will allow tesla to stop selling vehicles to consumers at all eventually. They really need to do a per mile option (ideally lower for highway driving since that is already pretty figured out and speeds are higher)

    • @srqnate
      @srqnate 2 месяца назад +1

      I agree. I have had it since 2018. I bought "Enhanced Autopilot" back in the day, and then upgraded to FSD when they ran a special. Even without ANY interventions, would I pay 15k? 12k? 200/mo? 🤔

    • @ccibinel

      @@srqnate I'm looking forward to comma when I get my Aptera. I feel it is a good balance of cost and functionality. Honestly if it can stay centered in its lane and not hit the vehicle infront in stop and go traffic I think that is enough for most people to ease the process of driving.

    Bought my Model Y about a month ago with 3 months of FSD. I got the v12 download last night. The difference between v11 and v12 is like the difference between riding with a kid who just got their learner's permit and a kid with a year experience who's almost ready to take their driver's test. However, on the first drive, v12 tried to pass a stopped bus by crossing double yellow lines into an oncoming traffic. I would have failed its driving test right there. Hopefully, it will get better in future releases.

  • @MikeInTheWoods
    @MikeInTheWoods 2 месяца назад +3

    'V12.3.1' is actually pretty common versioning. It goes Major.Minor.Patch. Leftmost number (Major) is indicative of major rebuilds (complete redesigns basically), the middle number (Minor) represents substantial updates/changes to that version, and the rightmost number (Patch) is minor bugfixes & patches to fix issues. I'm a software developer by day lol

    Eagerly waiting to try FSD ver 12 free trial but let's say alot of people are impressed with it and would love to own it, there is still a few roadblocks. Cost of using it monthly or paying the one time fee is extremely costly and need to be reduced especially in this high interest rate environment, plus if you pay the one time fee it doesn't go towards the car value if you want to sell and isn't easily transferable expect for maybe 1 time. Once you buy FSD you should be able to transfer it to any new Tesla you buy in the future, if you're fortunate to own 2 Tesla vehicles currently and pay once for FSD then you should be able to move it back and forth between vehicles, it would be worth it in those situations. Slash the FSD price in half and more people might consider it or have more options like per mile, per hour, per day. I would gladly pay $8-10 for the day on a roadtrip , or $2 for a few hrs.

  • @poland153
    @poland153 2 месяца назад +1

    Yeah I had it in a loaner, really it’s a better autopilot. Thinks a little bit more and has character instead of giving up like AP does lol. But I like added convenience of feeling like a captain and making orders to my ship pilot to change lanes supervising it while it’s doing it instead of being the one to execute the maneuver. Since it lets you tell it when it’s safe to continue by pushing pedal, that helps make the ride smoother if you’re making the executive decision since you verified all is clear, roll out lol.
    Would help on long road trip even more than AP has already helped me. I definitely feel less stress and tiredness when using it on road trips. Less strain on the body which makes sense

    I love my model 3. But I’m so wary of any of the self driving. I was so excited for being able to use autopilot last year, but I barely even use cruise control. Every time I do my car does that phantom brake thing, and I’m so worried if someone’s tailgating me I’m going to get rear ended due to the software being way too safe. Never had this issue in any of my other vehicles with adaptive cruise, which I used all the time. It’s one of the few things about the car I absolutely hate.

    My plan is to buy Model Y this summer. I drive seasonally between Seattle and Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. I thought that I would subscribe for a month for the trip south. If I like it then my plan would be to subscribe for one month for the return trip 6 months later. To purchase would require two things: first that it makes the 4 day trip much better and second that there is an option to move the software license to a new car - it seems that there is almost zero residual value when selling a Tesla with FSD.
    It will be interesting to see how FSD handles the Mexican highways with a myriad of lane markings - the old ones often have not been painted over - and some city roads where the lane dividers are so faint that I guess where I should be in my lane.

      I tested FSD 1 month subscription on a road trip from SC to TX and back, last year. It was cool, but I never used the auto-lane change, especially since one of the sensitivity options was "Mad Max." I would have gotten flipped off way too many times, ha! That being said, I was able wrap a weighted strap around the steering wheel and got only 1 alert about that. So very relaxing drive (except going through Atlanta, which is hell on earth)

    I think obviously not a lot of people are gonna buy it because of this, it's still a stupid amount of money, but maybe they will get a lot of new subscriptions....but 200 a month is still A LOT OF MONEY.
    maybe that will work in the US, but if fsd comes to Europe ( maybe end of the year) Tesla will probably have a hard time finding people willing to spend that kind of money on a subscription! sure the crazy tech people will do it, but normal people? 200 bucks a month for something that can be done for FREE ( driving somewhere) ? 98% of people will not do that.
    I mean that's why Tesla is pushing this so hard now, with the free trials ( and mandatory ones...sigh) they want people to buy into it , they spent billions of dollars on this tech and now they want to make their money back at least a little bit.

    I rent a lot of vehicles for work, often electric when I'm around major metros. A couple months back I got a Tesla with FSD and it was terrible. I had the car for a week and there were so many issues. I had a Ford Mach e last week for a couple of days and their adaptive cruise and lane keeping was so much better that I honestly told a friend that Tesla should consider licensing it from Ford. Seriously, night and day. I HATED the Tesla driving experience and the very fun party trick felt even more dangerous than my normal 5 year old Chevy volts adaptive cruise control.

    Hot take: I think FSD will be free eventually. As supercharging opens up and more inexpensive EV’s become available, Self driving will be one of the main reasons to buy a Tesla

    FSD should be a license following the user, not the car. If this rule ever changed, I will buy more FSD for my other car(s). It will also drive more sale on replacement Tesla. Why can't Elon (Tesla) see that??

    Nah man…Touchless delivery is crap..these things have wayyyy to many issues with the Model S with panel gaps and BS to just show up and take the car. I completely disagree with this. These should have a premium service attached. Forget this new school door dash delivery idea. The service is trash , too many young broke cant afford what they are selling associates working there. Need to hire wayy more real adults..over 35 people who know about actual customer service. All the Millennials with no sales experience working there. TESLA service and customer service needs a serious upgrade. So having a place to escalate the crap they do is needed. So spending 40K or more to just pick up from a company who still cant get the panel gaps and little stuff right …should not be doing any touchless anything…quality IS NOT there yet
