I don't think anybody could make such a song without experiencing a close person suffering from dementia. I've lost my father from Alzheimer's disease a year ago and I am sure he would exactly express himself with this lyrics if he could. Thank you Auri and thank you Tuomas, the song is both sad and healing for me.

@Julia Lückemeyer We can't be 100% certain, but there is plenty of evidence supporting it. Everything from our conscious "self" is tied to some part of the brain. When our brains shut down, even just in part (when we enter dreamless sleep or undergo general anaesthesia for example), there is no consciousness anymore that experiences anything. So there would need to be _some_ weird thing external to our brains that would continue - but if there is, then why doesn't it "do" anything, why is there nothing experiencing anything while our brains are shut down like during dreamless sleep?

    • @Nuissance
      @Nuissance 5 лет назад +3

It sure is intersting how people look at the same thing and see all sorts of different things! I think it's more about the feeling of revelation and regeneration, rather than reincarnation, what happens to your mind in its final moments. The theme is very close to the symphonic poem "Death And Transfiguration" by Richard Strauss. And the title suggests it, Night 13=Epiphany, nothing to do with the christian celebration on january 6th obviously, but just word play/adding mistery probably. Tuomas has said that the song is uplifting, not sad to him.

    • @Francesc1983
      @Francesc1983 Год назад +1

Well, I agree with you: I think it's quite obvious it's about reincarnation. First, being born in "a bed made of a curious cloth, a pillow from a crib", with "no pain, no memory lost", "a blank slate", "a newborn mind", since we are born as babies without memories of previous lives. "This new home" is our new body/incarnation. "Younger than yesterday" means we are babies, when yesterday we were dying old people. "This is my island now, to live it once more" makes it perfectly clear in my oppinion. It's quite cool, actually: you could be listening to the song in an endless loop of birth and dead and rebirth :).

I walk to the echo of stars
    All around me, under me
A bed made of curious cloth
    A pillow from a crib
The skies are dark, all of them
    Still comforting starlight
Pouring all over this new home
    High above
    Younger than yesterday
I feel no pain, no memory lost
    Alone yet with everything
    What is this space?
    Goodnight to an old soul
    Goodbye to life once lived
    This is my island now
    To live it once more
    Not long now
    This time, this weightless fall
    The calming mothers call
Back in time; I'm cleansed and bare
    And I see the light
    Now I know
They left me with a softest bed
A whitest cloth for a waiting dead
A light to pride and the frequent night
An apple for a thirsty bite
A clean slate, a newborn mind
    Brightest blue, purple moon
    Life once lived now understood
    High above
Tonight I will make the leap
Deep down to the night unknown
That's why they put me here
    They, they...
    Goodnight to an old soul
    Goodbye to life once lived
    This is my island now
    To live it once more

MoonSun, I love your Nightwish covers!

No, it's not Nightwish and yet you can tell it's kin. Reminds me quite a bit of some of the slower Nightwish stuff.

MoonSun exactly. Anyone expecting Nightwish sound clearly was unfamiliar with Troy and Johanna's music. I'm in love with this project already :) I hear they might preform as Auri in the future

Love the song. Don’t quite understand the video, but it doesn’t piss me off. All in all. Well done

This is done with the thought-provoking depth of feeling that many of the compositions from 'Imaginarium' created. This is a direction I hope Tuomas, Troy and Johanna continue-perhaps adding a new chapter and life to the Nightwish legacy.

It seemed like Tuomas wanted to branch in this direction of music when hiring Anette. Several songs from her era sounded extremely similar to this both in vocal and musical style.

Agree with you. I was about to say that. Despite their differences (between Tuomas and Annete), their work was superb. I hope both of them can read this and realized how much I appreciate their work.

Such a beautiful song. It has a haunting, gentle strength to it that you don’t often find in music. Not Nightwish, but stunning nonetheless ❤️

You just described the amazing, surprising, power of Johanna, the singer. It' the power of comfort. Amongst other things.
Did you know this is the wife of Tuomas?

Thank you Tuomas! I can’t wait for the full album (I already think this better than EFMB, lol)

You are so right you took the words right out of my mouth, because I didn’t know how I could put my emotions in words
Thank you for that and please please please please everyone, don’t start to compare with Nightwish Tarja Anette Floor and so one....
And if you’re listening really listening to this songtext , What’s the meaning of this, I have the feeling that
my friend here Marccu understands it like I do
And it’s such a wonderful wonderful great fantastic song by the way
