Sonia receives a heartbreaking phone call to say that Dot has passed away. Once the news has been broken to everyone in the Queen Vic, Walford decide to pay tribute to Dot as they turn on their Christmas lights.

One of the hardest scenes to watch. This reminded me of that one particular episode when Sonia kidnapped bex as a baby and then dot talked her into giving her back to her adoptive parents 😭😭😭😭😭! Another thing that’s sad about this scene is that with dotty leaving soon it’s just Sonia alone in that house now with dot and Jim and also Bradley all gone and her mum carol, Robbie, Bianca, Alan and bex not living on the square anymore! 😢 it was once a house with a family in it and then there was 1

Did they say Dot was 86 when she died? June Brown was 95. Didn’t know their was that much of a gap between character and actor
Well even though I stopped watching EastEnders years ago, it's sad Dot's now gone, especially after June Brown sadly passed away earlier this year. At least Dot can now be reunited with Jim, Ethel, Pauline and everyone else she was close to who are now gone. Though imagine if Nick awaited her in the afterlife "Allo, ma!"

Was curious as to why the show is doing this now. June Brown passed away 8 months ago. Why didn't they do this back then?
They probably needed time to work out how they were gonna handle this after June Brown's passing as Dot was a memorable beloved character who deserved a decent send off.

I am so glad they were able to do this for June Brown (Dot) (RIP). They weren't able to do one for Jerry Douglas who played John Abbott on Young & Restless. Who are the Young Men with Kim & Patrick? Personally I think that Kathy, Sharon, should have done the eulogy. Sharon knew Dot since she was a teenager.
They should have Julia’s theme
I wouldn't be surprised if they use 'Julia's Theme' during Dot's funeral episode, maybe towards the end if there's a scene where everyone in the Vic raises a glass in her memory.
I don't know whether they'll have a different version of 'Julia's Theme' in June Brown's memory though, as I know they had special themes for Pat and Peggy when they left the show.
They most probably will on the 12th December. Will be good to see some of the original cast. A sad episode tonight.😥😥😥

I don't mean to be offensive but the mawkish stuff about Dot was unbearable and rather unrealistic since many of the characters would not have known her well, what with that and the constant hammy overacting of Shane Ritchie made last nights two episodes practically unwatchable for me. Why doesn't the director(s) grow a pair and tell Ritchie to cut out the "Del Boy" impressions. It is like watching the class show-off in the school play - the only thing being we can't stick Ritchie's head down the bog. He might think he is funny and entertaining but a lot of viewers certainly don't. Wind his neck in, for Christ's sake.
Shane Ritchie is neither writer or producer for the show; he plays the character as written. I can't stand Alfie anymore; he used to be a good character. Now it is like the writers don't know what to do with him so they just keep writing these Get Rich Quick/manchild storylines
@@thenightporter It is for the director, or producer, if Clemshaw is up to the job (his constant harping back to past characters shows a definite weakness) to tell Richie to tone down his portrayal - he looks what he is - a total buffoon. Ritchie can't act, which is I suppose the reason SR keeps going back like a dog to it's own vomit. Nobody else would employ such an amateur. Coronation Street has characters like "Steve", "Craig" and "Dev", who are lousy actors, but at least they are not allowed to mug and show off to quite the same degree.
