      A historical character?
Yasuke, the black person you are referring to, was a slave/sword bearer back in japan.
The only recorded black man in the history of Samurai.
Everytime he appeared, folks would gather around to stare at the "strangly colored man".
He would be the worst assassin, to every secretly assassinate someone.

Japanese shrines retain many influences from ancient Israelites and the regions around Mesopotamia. In particular, the sacrificial ritual of the Onbashira Festival at Suwa Taisha is very similar to the story of Isaac's sacrifice in the Bible. Many clans fled the volcanic eruption in Japan around 7,000 years ago, migrated to the region around Egypt, and returned to Japan after several generations.

    Some cool information.
This game is set about 18-20 years before the events in Shōgun. The character that Yasuke serves is Oda Nobunaga, who was the real-life counterpart of Kuroda Nobuhisa, the warlord who Lady Mariko's father betrays/kills, and who is Lady Ochiba's father. Yasuke was actually present when Nobunaga was ambushed, and he fought alongside him in that battle before he was overcome and made to give up his sword.
I wonder if we'll be able to meet these characters in the game? Mariko's father's real-life counterpart Akechi Mitsuhide. The Taikō Toyotomi Hideyoshi. And, of course, Tokugawa Ieyasu, the real-life counterpart of Mr. Hiroyuki Sanada's Yoshii Toranaga.

If they are going to feature an assassin, they should use hidden clans like the Imbe clan, Kamo clan, or Hata clan rather than Yasuke.
The theory that the Hata clan are ancient Israelites fits perfectly with Assassin's Creed and ties in with the story of Assassin's Creed 1!
Given that Nobunaga is connected to the Imbe clan, it would make sense if they based the story on that.

Shadows literally set in a time where it's basically Japan's Romance of 3 Kingdoms, it's way more busy with life and death than the entire scenery/cutscene of Ghost, which, I think i understand why they named it "Ghost" of Tsushima, there's nothing there. It's just made-believe. Plus history.

The letter from Luís Fróis, a Jesuit missionary, written in 1581, mentions Yasuke as an individual of African origin who served as a samurai under Oda Nobunaga. Although this letter is an important historical source corroborating Yasuke's presence in Japan and his role as a samurai, it is not the only evidence available. Other Japanese historical records from the time also mention Yasuke as an African warrior who achieved the rank of samurai.

Yasuke served Nobunaga the First unifier of Japan for like 3 years before his assassination. He was said to have been present during Nobunaga's death when he was betrayed by one of his main lieutenants Mitsuhide Akechi. His story afterwards as many of Nobunaga's close attendants is shrouded in mystery. When Nobunaga was burnt in the temple he had only Yasuke and a teenage son of one of his oldest vassals Ranmaru Mori. Ranmaru was confirmed to have died in the ensuing fight but Yasuke seems to disappear into legend after the Honnoji Incident(Assassination of Oda Nobunaga).
I guess Yasuke's mysterious ending made him eligible for a role in Assassins Creed especially if he will be on a crusade against the traitors within the Oda Clan and the conservatives who are against unification.

Lots of white people had access to Japan, they were the ones that forced open there isolationism after all, so having white people existing in Japan wouldn't be an insane thought.
There's also the fact that Japan was incredibly racist and killed 99% of all non Japanese people, and only initially kept yasuke alive because of the unique color of his skin.
The disbelief is warranted as the reason Yasukes story is so badass is because of how impossible it sounds

    • @CC-of5xl

The reason why matters though and yeah people complain when white characters are in feudal Japan. But usually it's done to show the actual "invasion" of the west into the east that took place. That's not why they chose Yasuke though. They did it for the same reason the other character is a woman it's to meet a quota. But in the end it wouldn't matter along as the characters are good and act appropriately for the era. Also they probably should have just made a fictional character as they'll basically have to change everything about Yasuke to make it work. But who knows maybe it will.

Therefore, we chose someone with a sensibility closer to ours (foreigners).' This is terrible. Are we some kind of abnormal beings? Is Japan perceived as an abnormal, unconventional, and incomprehensible nation by the world? While they are careful about issues related to color and gender, this is ethnic discrimination. This is true racism. I was a fan of this game series. I never expected to hear from that game company, 'You are an abnormal existence.'

      @FRFitJourney 15 дней назад +3

@@tmnuzi6166I agree with you. There are people who want to turn this into an issue about skin color, but that's not the point. What's important is what Yasuke actually did and whether his story aligns with historical facts. While there are historical records of him, his story is neither famous nor is he considered a legendary samurai. It's not that I dislike him because of his black skin. Yasuke is recorded as a samurai, but he handed over his sword to Akechi Mitsuhide in the end, and there are no further records of him after that. Surrendering his sword symbolizes that he renounced his status as a samurai. If someone like that is called a "legendary samurai," it's laughable. He achieved nothing in just one year, merely serving as Oda Nobunaga's porter and possessing a sword. Is it not an insult to Japanese history to call such a person a "legendary samurai" just because he was a black foreigner? Does merely holding a sword and being a foreigner qualify someone as a "legendary samurai"? That doesn't make sense. If he had fought on the battlefield, defeated enemies, or held some position, I wouldn't object. If there were historical facts supporting his achievements, like the figures you mentioned, I would agree. But that's not the case with Yasuke. The only thing that can be said is that he was strong in Japan's traditional sport, sumo, as recorded. What do you think?

After the Honnoji Incident, I was told that I felt sorry for Mitsuhide Akechi and should let him return home, so I returned to my hometown of Mozambique. As if to prove that, a Japanese television station has found a descendant of Yasufe who can only be Yasuke. It is not listed because there is no one to study it academically, but Yasuke's real name is Yasufe, and there are descendants who can speak Japanese in the area, so it is highly likely. Look at Yasuke in the Maeda Clan version of the Shinchōkōki. Kaneko Hiraku (professor at the Historiographical Institute of the University of Tokyo, the most prestigious historical research institution in Japan) agrees with this. Additionally, in the book it says : This black man called Yasuke was given a stipend, a private residence, etc., and was given a short sword with a decorative sheath. He is sometimes seen in the role of weapon bearer. The meaning of the word stipend is not supposed to prove Yasuke was a samurai all by itself. What proves Yasuke was a samurai is not that he received a samurai stipend, but that he received a samurai stipend and carried Nobunaga's weapons which was the job of a samurai and had and fought with a katana at Nijō and he was mobilized and followed Nobunaga on the Takeda campaign of 1582 and remained by Nobunaga's side even after Nobunaga dismissed all his "ordinary soldiers".

If Yasuke had been a loyal and strong samurai, he would have been killed on the spot. Japanese people are not stupid enough to blindly believe what a Tokyo University professor says. That qualifies as samurai, with the addition of a stipend (which samurai were given). In general, 扶持 is a term for a payment for mid-lower ranking warriors for them to hire (usually warrior) servants for (usually temporary) employment. Given the term's usual usage, and that Yasuke was clearly by Nobunaga's side in permanent employment, it doesn't make sense for Yasuke to be anything but a warrior.

Is the fact that yasuke was never samurai and yet Ubisoft is doing it good for y’all or nah?

Putting the "blind" in Blind Wave as usual. This game is racist. Oda kept him around because of the color of his skin. He was never a samurai and was viewed as a pet.

These games aren't direct adaptations of history. They are loose adaptations but more fictional.

Why is the game racist? lol

So... the pope being a lizzard person, is okay. DaVinci making weapons for a centuries old society of assassins, is okay. George Washington being a madman because a golden apple, is okay. But Yasuke being a Samurai is not okay.

Bruh who tf wants to play as a page?
That said, if they wanted a black samurai, I feel like they could have just created a new character. Because what’s the point of using a historically real protagonist if you aren’t going to use their real history?

Then don't come to this reaction channel. I think I can speak for everyone, Blind Wave included, that if this is what you're going to provide for the community then just don't provide it at all. We don't want your grifting youtube side to come over here and we sure as hell don't want ignorant views with no base like "it's racist" filling up the comment section. LEAVE!!

They can see him... he's well over 6 feet tall, some say 6'7". While Japanese men, on average, are 5'7" as we speak. He stands out like a sore thumb.
There's a whole slew of things wrong with the premise that they have for this game. And, if I'm being honest, they're 10 years too late to cash in the want for it.
No matter how they sugar coat this clear attempt of pandering, it is built for a Western Liberal audience; unfortunately, they had to defecate on the Asian audience (Japanese culture specifically) to do so.

Yes we know. The trailer shows us who is the stealth and who is the brute force. No need to explain we already know that's the point of the two different characters

@@cd878 The Little Mermaid flopped; The Marvels was 1 of the biggest box office bombs of all time and lost over $300 million dollars; The American Society of Magical Negroes flopped hard too and got awful reviews; Madame Web lost over $100 million dollars; The Lightyear movie lost over $200 million dollars; Strange World lost over $200 million dollars. I could go on and on at how many bombs we've had in just the last few years alone. These movies being woke obviously isn't the only factor for why they're losing hundreds of millions of dollars. They're also just garbage movies in general, but them also being woke certainly is a major factor and more often than not makes the movie worse in general, so no wonder why people aren't paying to consume this woke trash content. Keep coping dude
