So I'm guessing for the stealth and assassin part is for the Female Shinobi while the hack and slash gameplay of the recent AC games will be with Yasuke. Not the gonna lie. That's actually cool.
behold yasuke the black samurai of feudal japan. People can complain about a black samurai in feudal japan, but for some reason they do not complain when a white woman or man in feudal japan as the setting. For example, blue eyed samurai.
You obviously didn’t watch blue eyed samurai, first of all. Secondly, there were many white people in Japan, much more than black people. The reason Yasuke was kept and allowed to live in the first place was because the ruler of Japan at the time thought he was special and unique
Because people are uneducated. I already knew about Yasuke so I figured it must be him in the trailer. I havent seen blue eyd samurai, but apparently she is mixed race and half japanese, and there were white people in this time that could've been her father like a dutch sailor or maybe even William Adams himself (Blackthorne from Shogun) who did have a daughter named Susanna with a japanese woman, but I dont think she is the Blue eyed samurai.
Lots of white people had access to Japan, they were the ones that forced open there isolationism after all, so having white people existing in Japan wouldn't be an insane thought. There's also the fact that Japan was incredibly racist and killed 99% of all non Japanese people, and only initially kept yasuke alive because of the unique color of his skin. The disbelief is warranted as the reason Yasukes story is so badass is because of how impossible it sounds
The reason why matters though and yeah people complain when white characters are in feudal Japan. But usually it's done to show the actual "invasion" of the west into the east that took place. That's not why they chose Yasuke though. They did it for the same reason the other character is a woman it's to meet a quota. But in the end it wouldn't matter along as the characters are good and act appropriately for the era. Also they probably should have just made a fictional character as they'll basically have to change everything about Yasuke to make it work. But who knows maybe it will.
Yasuke served Nobunaga the First unifier of Japan for like 3 years before his assassination. He was said to have been present during Nobunaga's death when he was betrayed by one of his main lieutenants Mitsuhide Akechi. His story afterwards as many of Nobunaga's close attendants is shrouded in mystery. When Nobunaga was burnt in the temple he had only Yasuke and a teenage son of one of his oldest vassals Ranmaru Mori. Ranmaru was confirmed to have died in the ensuing fight but Yasuke seems to disappear into legend after the Honnoji Incident(Assassination of Oda Nobunaga). I guess Yasuke's mysterious ending made him eligible for a role in Assassins Creed especially if he will be on a crusade against the traitors within the Oda Clan and the conservatives who are against unification.
@@MustardSkaven If I am correct, that last bit is an assumption that modern historians make based on evidence available. It is not actually recorded anywhere. Please enlighten me if I am wrong about this.

We may need a reaction to all the Assassin’s Creed cinematic trailers. The trailer for Revelations is one of the greatest of all time. They were even playing it before movies in theaters!
It's been 17 years since AC1 and we are finally getting an assassins creed game set in feudal Japan. I am excited but worried at the same time. I just hope the game mechanics are well done. The combat, parkour, variety of weapons, etc. Also the story telling in the previous games has been a bit lackluster for me, not necessarily the content of the story but the way the it's told through the characters, the delivery and certain acting kinda throws me off. But nonetheless, I am very excited.
Japanese shrines retain many influences from ancient Israelites and the regions around Mesopotamia. In particular, the sacrificial ritual of the Onbashira Festival at Suwa Taisha is very similar to the story of Isaac's sacrifice in the Bible. Many clans fled the volcanic eruption in Japan around 7,000 years ago, migrated to the region around Egypt, and returned to Japan after several generations.
08:16 Not the same tbh. The era is different unless you talk about playing in a historicallly rural ancient Japan's feel then yes, pretty much. Most historical games would feel that way. Shadows literally set in a time where it's basically Japan's Romance of 3 Kingdoms, it's way more busy with life and death than the entire scenery/cutscene of Ghost, which, I think i understand why they named it "Ghost" of Tsushima, there's nothing there. It's just made-believe. Plus history.
People and a lead writer who dont care about true gaming. Only they care about this time around is to push their agenda and to pandering to some groups of people.
Not to break the enthusiasm of everybody, but Ubisoft? Pre-orders? Gold Editions? Not to mention how much more fantasy and less historical the last AC games have become? I would be cautious about it.

The letter from Luís Fróis, a Jesuit missionary, written in 1581, mentions Yasuke as an individual of African origin who served as a samurai under Oda Nobunaga. Although this letter is an important historical source corroborating Yasuke's presence in Japan and his role as a samurai, it is not the only evidence available. Other Japanese historical records from the time also mention Yasuke as an African warrior who achieved the rank of samurai.
I am Japanese. No Japanese people think that Yasuke is a samurai. Before that, very few Japanese people knew about Yasuke. If Yasuke is a samurai, he should have a last name. There are no historical documents that show that Yasuke was a samurai.
From what I see they probably start off as enemies and assuming the ninja or clan she belonged to were part of the assassins so how and why would she recruit someone who potentially slaughter her village
So many people were crying about Yasuke being a character, of course. Listen, whatever is true about the real life figure doesn't matter. It's an Assassin's Creed game. They've never been historically accurate. It's like saying God of War is true to greek/norse mythology
I've seen it more as Japanese people complaining that this is when they choose the diversity route for a main character. It's pretty clear that western media doesn't really care about Asian representation.
A lot of things that were completely uncontroversial before, like a black character existing in a game set in a different country. A few years ago, it suddenly became a problem when it turned out you can farm money and engagement from crying about completely normal things. Yasuke appeared in other games too, and no one cried about it.

The amount of brainwashed people worrying so much about the race and gender of the MC's rather then the fact that ubisoft is pushing the same 130$ for a game like they did with star wars outlaw is crazy. If you want an actual good samurai game, play Ghost of Tsushima and dont support a company like ubisoft that only cares about pandering to a certain audience and flooding their games with microtransactions and battlepasses. Cause i have no doubt in my mind that when this game drops, it'll be terrible like all the recent AC games. Vote with your wallet and dont buy games ubisoft makes!! Thats the only way these big companies will listen!
With the long trend of social agendas destroying beloved franchises the worrying part is definitely not unfounded. And I agree people should not support game companies that have disdain for its playerbase.
There's no point in complaining because this is Ubisoft's standard price now. What bothers me is that they make a forced inclusion, the protagonists are going to be Badass to make everyone happy.
What do you mean brainwashed? Sure there's the overly anti woke crowd that complains about everything but there's very real complaints for Japanese fans. There's already a lack of Asian male leads in western media. Than western media sets something in Japan and decides this is the time for diverse representation.

He was, goober. Look at Yasuke in the Maeda Clan version of the Shinchōkōki. Kaneko Hiraku (professor at the Historiographical Institute of the University of Tokyo, the most prestigious historical research institution in Japan) agrees with this. Additionally, in the book it says : This black man called Yasuke was given a stipend, a private residence, etc., and was given a short sword with a decorative sheath. He is sometimes seen in the role of weapon bearer. The meaning of the word stipend is not supposed to prove Yasuke was a samurai all by itself. What proves Yasuke was a samurai is not that he received a samurai stipend, but that he received a samurai stipend and carried Nobunaga's weapons which was the job of a samurai and had and fought with a katana at Nijō and he was mobilized and followed Nobunaga on the Takeda campaign of 1582 and remained by Nobunaga's side even after Nobunaga dismissed all his "ordinary soldiers".
@@akshayhere There are no clear historical documents that show that Yasuke was a samurai. Also, possessing Nobunaga's weapon does not necessarily equate to being a samurai. Nobunaga was walking around with a rare black man, and he might have just given him a sword. After Yasuke escaped at Honnoji Temple, he was captured by Akechi's army, but he was released. If Yasuke had been a loyal and strong samurai, he would have been killed on the spot. Japanese people are not stupid enough to blindly believe what a Tokyo University professor says. In fact, very few Japanese people think of Yasuke as a samurai.
@@へいきち-p2o Considering almost every japanese media about him portrays him as a samurai, you're wrong there. Additionally he also fought at battle beside Nobunaga. That qualifies as samurai, with the addition of a stipend (which samurai were given). In general, 扶持 is a term for a payment for mid-lower ranking warriors for them to hire (usually warrior) servants for (usually temporary) employment. Given the term's usual usage, and that Yasuke was clearly by Nobunaga's side in permanent employment, it doesn't make sense for Yasuke to be anything but a warrior. Read before spreading misinformation. The conclusion of all reasonable historians on the matter is that Yasuke was a samurai, and anyone who disagrees can suck on the historical record.

Or Nioh bosses....
We know Yasuke was sent back to the Jesuits.
Another thing most people don't know, Ranmaru and Yasuke were both lovers of Nobunaga.

If I am correct, that last bit is an assumption that modern historians make based on evidence available. It is not actually recorded anywhere. Please enlighten me if I am wrong about this.
Amd he still wasn't a samurai
@@ravenfal1496 There is no mention of him being a samurai either but people are apparently rolling with that. So we may as well assume they were lovers as well.

We may need a reaction to all the Assassin’s Creed cinematic trailers. The trailer for Revelations is one of the greatest of all time. They were even playing it before movies in theaters!
Guys the game linked under the video is Indiana Jones :^)
This trailer got me very interested and it's definitely going on the list of games I will eventually play!
The main theme gave me chills!
Mirage is set in Baghdad, guys. Iraq.
Mirage is really short, you could get through that in a few days at some point this year if you wanted to play it before Shadows
Guys… mirage is in iraq not afghanistan
Japanese shrines retain many influences from ancient Israelites and the regions around Mesopotamia. In particular, the sacrificial ritual of the Onbashira Festival at Suwa Taisha is very similar to the story of Isaac's sacrifice in the Bible. Many clans fled the volcanic eruption in Japan around 7,000 years ago, migrated to the region around Egypt, and returned to Japan after several generations.
I really hope this comes out on Switch 2 or whatever it ends up being called

I keep getting mixed comments, some like this and others sawing he was just a retainer only allowed to hold Oda’s blades
Knight=Cniht?
Bushi=Samurai?
知らねー外人がイキってて草
Please consider streaming more Assassins Creed!
From a Japanese perspective, there is a strong sense of discomfort between a black samurai and a continental Asian woman's face.
A lot of things that were completely uncontroversial before, like a black character existing in a game set in a different country. A few years ago, it suddenly became a problem when it turned out you can farm money and engagement from crying about completely normal things. Yasuke appeared in other games too, and no one cried about it.
You know its a been a WHILE since yall have played an AC game if you mention how they just now figured out how to avoid cutting off the finger 😂😂😂

Im hyped because this is a REAL installment. Not a DLC- turned game. This is gonna be a big leap from Valhalla. HOPEFULLY!
Part of the appeal of Assassin’s Creed for me has always been seeing how they take a character you wouldn't typically imagine as an assassin and make them one. This is why I’m glad they stayed away from a Japanese-style game for so long. However, I do think the time is right to finally introduce one. I'm excited for this one.
This game looks so DOPE.
The fight between "woke" and anti-woke is really taxing. Let us reserve our judgement and count the chickens after the eggs hatch.

@@kaelinvictus6039 I'm not saying worrying about the agenda they're trying push isn't unfounded. only that the mass of people seem to think that's the major problem with the game and no the fact its going to be another EA microtransaction filled game that wont preform well.
@@enenrax there is totally a point in complaining! consumers have the power to make or break companies like ubisoft, look at what happend with the sonic trailer or even helldivers recently. if people just keep letting stuff like this go by and not say anything about it n let it become the norm is how itll destroy the gaming industry

Because he is... no matter that he's simply a footnote in Oda Nobunaga's story, there is no logical sense to have a black man as the male protagonist in a feudal Japan setting.
The amount of historical detail that Ubisoft got wrong with this game is astonishing.
It is a video game made to cater to a Western Liberal audience. Unfortunately, they had to defecate on Japanese culture and the Asian market to do so.

He wasnt a samurai
And the Animus and time travel isn't real. Pieces of Eden is real. It's a video game. The only time you whine is when Black person is on your screen. LMAO

There's a whole slew of things wrong with the premise that they have for this game. And, if I'm being honest, they're 10 years too late to cash in the want for it.
No matter how they sugar coat this clear attempt of pandering, it is built for a Western Liberal audience; unfortunately, they had to defecate on the Asian audience (Japanese culture specifically) to do so.
Yes we know. The trailer shows us who is the stealth and who is the brute force. No need to explain we already know that's the point of the two different characters
@@cd878 Except if Yasuke has gone around killing important figures and generally fucking shit up in Japan, he would have been much more than a footnote in Japanese history. Everybody would have heard of the 6 foot 7 black guy kicking ass and he would have been a prominent figure in history. AC games have always tried to follow real history closely, and try to tie their games into it as seamlessly as possible. That's why AC main characters were always historical nobodies who fit their region's main demographic. So that it makes sense that they never appear in the history books. They could fit into any crowd and vanish without a trace. Nobody would remember that they were ever there. But that's not possible with Yasuke. He sticks out like a sore thumb. Everybody would remember if they saw him even once in passing.

Putting the "blind" in Blind Wave as usual. This game is racist. Oda kept him around because of the color of his skin. He was never a samurai and was viewed as a pet.
These games aren't direct adaptations of history. They are loose adaptations but more fictional.
Why is the game racist? lol
So... the pope being a lizzard person, is okay. DaVinci making weapons for a centuries old society of assassins, is okay. George Washington being a madman because a golden apple, is okay. But Yasuke being a Samurai is not okay.
Bruh who tf wants to play as a page?
