    I can understand why someone would want to "disappear" and start a new life, but I feel bad for the loved ones left behind with no closure or peace. At least let the people you care about know you're okay and want to be left alone. At least they know there was no foul play :\

      Carbs Are Happiness I feel bad for those kids that were just abandoned by their mother and left to be raised by an abusive drunk while she went and happily made a new life.

      @user-rm3iy4ye2l 7 лет назад +80

      Luv2LuvEm I agree! I understand that she tried to take them and he stopped her.. but still.. She could have gotten help from a family member, friend or professional to ensure the children escaped an abuser. It's selfish to leave them.

      Carbs Are Happiness it's actually not that easy. Back in the old days domestic violence wasn't often prosected due to it being legal

      for some reason I believe that the 3rd one, Fritz, was really that he may have hit his head and had amnesia , while very rare.......his brothers didn't even buy he remembered his previous life. .. .or he just wanted the insurance money.
      but then why be so flamboyant if trying to hide.

    The most intriguing one was Petra Pazsitka's disappearance. She was 24 y/o and in college, found 30 years later having never contacted anyone in her family during that time and said she never would. There must have been hella problems on that homefront.

    • @christyt4249
      @christyt4249 7 лет назад +12

      Kaboom Feniz Men do this often. But difference is that men don't share a body with their child. When someone lives under your heart for months, you have an unbreakable bond.
      Not saying that fathers should not step up, because they absolutely should and be there for their children. But something about carrying a child creates such a closeness, that makes it harder to believe when they walk away.
      Any parent that would leave their children, man or woman, is a deadbeat IMO. Guess I am stubborn, but I wouldn't have wanted anything to do with that woman later in life. But to each their own.

      If you don't know how to do it properly, it can be very dangerous. There are resources on the net how to do it today, but I definitely wouldn't recommend pulling such a stunt. There are others, much nicer and smarter ways to change your life. To reinvent yourself.

    The Bader-Johnson case may have started as a faked disappearance, but it seems to have ended as a genuine incident of total amnesia and dual-personality. Did he take on the "Fritz Johnson" identity *so well*, that he completely erased "Lawrence Bader" from his consciousness? We'll probably never know for sure.

    • @ilove077
      @ilove077 7 лет назад +79

      I was thinking he suffered a brain injury while fishing or something because they medically determined he really didn't remember anything either that or just really good acting, interesting case none the less.

    • @PsyVen
      @PsyVen 7 лет назад +29

      Brain damage is a very strong possibility here. Issues of memory and identity, and how they're stored and accessed in the gray matter, are still not well understood. (BTW, I first read about this case in Jay Robert Nash's book, AMONG THE MISSING -- a pretty good anthology of disappeared-people cases.)

      They didn't "actually" disappear. They just left a situation for another. They seemed to have disappeared to the people they used to spend time with / their families, but they were just somewhere else. So, yeah, they faked their disappearance. It looked to people as if they didn't exist anymore, but they actually did.

    So selfish to abandon her children to an abusive husband/father to save herself. I understand especially back then that women didn't have as much equal power and equal rights as they do today, but it was still a selfish act to vanish and not have contact for decades and to plan to die without ever contacting them, it seems. I kind of hope she feels like shit knowing her one son died not knowing anything, and not getting the closure he deserved after she abandoned him.

    • @wuppas
      @wuppas 6 лет назад +5

      Under extreme condition the person might become hyper selfish, and that particular condition might alter the brain to the point that it changes irreversibly the previous feelings and emotions and end up with a different personality because of that.

      It's really amazing the kind of planning actually goes in to just leaving and starting a new life. Especially if you're still using the same social number! I've heard of a few stories of people using the same social number and still weren't found for years and years. I mean to just leave your children your family that takes a lot of physical and mental practice.

It really does boggle the mind how folks in this day and age can so badly botch common city names. It fascinates me and makes me sad at the same time. Details really do matter when it comes to presenting a professional and credible finished product. At least that's what we've tried to drill into our kids over the years anyway.

      I don't remember much either, but I think I blocked most of mine. I was molested by my grandfather as a child, bullied relentlessly at school and mentally abused at home. If I hadn't blocked most of that crap out, I don't think I would have made it to adulthood. The problem is, the memory loss still happens in gaps. I can't remember half of what I've done as an adult either.

    I truly wish more of these thousands of strange disappearances all around the world would turn out to the missing persons being found alive and living a new life!
    Don't wanna judge here cause I don't know what they're really going through before in their lives?
    Not happy bout #1 leaving her kids behind with an abusive alcoholic. But one thing's for sure: These have been totally different times and circumstances for married women. - Men drinking heavily and brutally beating up their wifes regularly was much more usual and commonly accepted than nowadays; divorce also wasn't any good option back then. - Women were used to hide their injuries from the public eye out of pure shame and fear.
    They're even used to lie about the causes of severe wounds when they'd to be treated in hospitals...
    So I guess/feel she'd thought her sudden disappearance hopefully would change everything to any better outcome for her kids. (Idk tbh... maybe she'd planned to return after few weeks, who knows?)

      And something I find weird is some men that abuse their wives and are drunks actually never touch their children. My mom knew a couple of women through out the years who's husband's where abusive to them but would and never did lay a hand on the children and actually treated their children amazingly. Maybe it has to do with hatred of their wives and not their children? I wouldn't know I'm not trained to delve that deep but I always found it weird because you would assume that if someone is abusive to one person they would just be abusive all around but that isn't always the case?

    • @Anita-k
      @Anita-k 7 лет назад +1

      Kayla Murray
      Yes and that's why even her own child from the first marriage nearly couldn't believe her the story about his domestic violence, abuse and alcohol fueld rage against her.
      Imho Linda should believe her though. Cause no woman runs away for absolutely no apparent reason and leaves her kids behind willingly.
      * Maybe he'd even threatened to kill her if she would've stayed/specially if she would've tried to take their common kids with her?
      * Maybe his love had turned into hate/he had fallen in love with another woman?
      Which would at least explain why he didn't report her missing for four years! Tbh, that's a really very long time imo.
      I assume she also doesn't wanna talk too much with her "child" about the horrors during her first marriage after that extremely long period of time.
      Cause instinctively she knows that Linda has made other, nearly contrary experiences with him.
      Also he's dead now and maybe her kid is missing him dearly. - So why telling too much?
      A lot of that story sounds like an agreement between the two adults to me.
      Or like the result of their very last fight before her disappearance.
      -> But that's just my own theory.
      Unfortunately I also don't know very much about the psychological backgrounds why a person abuses the own partner but not their common children.
      (I only tried to include some of my own experiences with an abusive alcoholic. - He was also nice to my cats and to children in general. But a terrible partner).
      Guess there're at least 3 categories of them... I'm currently still thinking about numerous experiences of girlfriends &co.

      It's not illegal if other's deem you "missing", and it's not the person's choice that all those resources be used. Plus, it would be impossible to prove that the person had knowledge that they were labeled missing, and that the government was using resources to find them. It's morally inapt, but unlawful? Not in the slightest.
